Immigrant Rights Advocate Refuses to Speak English at Committee Hearing

An immigrant rights advocate testified before a Texas state committee.  He spoke in Spanish using an interpreter.  This man confessed that he has been in the United States since 1988.  When a state senator asked him why he doesn’t speak English, he said that he does, but prefers to use his native tongue:

You would think that after being in this country for over 20 years, one would be proficient in our country’s language.  But this guy is an advocate for an “immigrant rights” group.  It’s a safe bet that he was making a political statement by refusing to speak English.  That is how arrogant these people are.

I will entertain one other possibility.  This man lives in a diaspora and is surrounded by others who refuse to assimilate.  If that is the case, they are colonizers and not citizens.
