I watched an interesting documentary about the
Berlin Wall last Saturday. This
perspective centered on how a handful of GDR bureaucrats, I believe 20, were
able to deceive Berliners by mobilizing an army, police units, and socialist
party activist to seal off East Berlin.
This elite 20 sent envelopes to various peoples and
organizations with explicit instructions not to open until a designated time
early in the morning. At that moment they
were to follow orders without question.
The goal was to shutdown subways, thoroughfares, and to fence off East
Berlin by 6:00 AM before anyone woke up.
And they accomplished it.
Some West Berliners were stranded on the other
side. One woman recounted how the subway
was shutdown and she had to walk miles to get to the boundary where soldiers
were laying barbed wire. They helped her
cross over. She recalled they didn’t
know what was going on. They were just following
orders.
That kind of sneaky, underhanded duplicity reminds
me of how democrats shoved Obamacare down our throats. Remember Nancy Pelosi’s, ‘We must pass this
bill to see what’s in it”? And here is
one of the masterminds bragging about how they deceived the American people:
I don’t see a difference between the GDR and the democrats. Do you?
