The City Council of Durham, North Carolina banned all city business and travel to Arizona, until that state rescinds its illegal immigration law. Members passed the measure six to one.
Beverly Thompson, the spokesman for Durham, admitted that only three people have traveled to Arizona for city business in the past three years, and that they have no long term contracts with any businesses that reside in that state. Yet, the Council felt it imperative to boycott Arizona.
Durham has financial problems. Instead of attending to their budget, they decided to play politics and pander to a group of people who have no regard for the laws of our land. Nate Goetz, chairman of Durham’s Human Relations Committee introduced the boycott. Here are his concerns:
Goetz said that fear is spreading within Durham's Latino community about the immigration law and whether something similar could happen in North Carolina.
"Once it comes into our neighborhoods, it has everything to do with Durham, and it's come into our neighborhoods," he said.
Mr. Goetz why do you think the Latino community is worried about a similar law passing here? Could it possibly be that they are illegal? Has that ever crossed your mind?
Mr. Goetz is the lowest form of a politician. He has more regard for illegal aliens, than the legal residents that he allegedly represents. Mr. Goetz has no problem wasting tax dollars on people who have not paid into the system; and yet the City of Durham is broke.
Mr. Goetz does not value his American citizenship. He demeans it by aiding and abetting illegal aliens who do not give a damn about this country. They look upon the United States as nothing more than a whore who is easy to abuse and take advantage of; and Nate Goetz is just the pimp to smack Miss America around.
I believe it’s time North Carolinians take a stand and boycott Durham.
