Arizona Governor Sues Federal Government Over Illegal Invasion
Governor Jan Brewer filed a lawsuit against the federal government for not enforcing immigration laws and protecting our borders. I believe that all states should join this suit just like the 26 did with Obamacare. NumbersUSA reports:
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has announced that the state will launch a counter-lawsuit against the federal government for its failure to enforce immigration laws. Gov. Brewer said the federal government has failed to secure the Arizona border with Mexico and has passed the costs of illegal immigration onto the state.
"Because the federal government has failed to protect the citizens of Arizona, I am left with no other choice," Gov. Brewer said.
"It's outrageous the United States Department of Justice sued the people of Arizona to stop Senate Bill 1070. ... Our message for the federal government is very simple -- use federal resources to combat the cartels who are breaking the federal law."
The federal government sued the state of Arizona after it passed SB1070, which allows local police officers to inquire about the immigration status of an individual stopped, detained, or arrested if there is reasonable suspicion that the individual is in the country illegally. Portions of the law were struck down by a federal district court, and the decision is currently being appealed by the state to the Ninth Circuit Court.
This woman has shown real leadership. Arizona should be proud to have Jan Brewer as their governor.
