Senator Kay Hagan Betrays North Carolinians

Senator Kay Hagan voted against repealing Obamacare yesterday. You would have thought after the past election, she would have a clue as to the sentiments of her fellow tar heels on this monstrous piece of legislation.

North Carolina’s General Assembly will be dominated by Republicans for the first time in 112 years:

RALEIGH (AP) — North Carolina Republicans gained control of both chambers of the N.C. General Assembly on Tuesday, ending more than a century of Democratic control of both chambers as the GOP took advantage of both voter unhappiness nationwide and a difficult state budget picture.

Unofficial results Tuesday show GOP candidates winning at least 28 seats in the Senate and 62 in the House, ensuring they’ll have more seats than the Democrats. The Republicans also were leading in two more Senate districts and three more in the House, giving them more room to govern.

Republicans turned over at least 20 seats held by Democrats during the previous two-year legislative cycle, including 16 current incumbents, according to unofficial returns. Losers Tuesday included current House Majority Leader Hugh Holliman of Davidson County and N.C. Rep. Nelson Cole, who lost to a conservative running as an independent.

Republicans haven’t led both chambers together since their Fusion coalition with farmers got defeated in 1898. That includes a 112-year losing streak in the Senate and only four years of House control in the 1990s

Senator Kay Hagan’s allegiance is with her party and not her fellow North Carolinians. She is the poster child for repealing the 17th Amendment. Had it not been for this amendment the new republican majority in the N.C. General Assembly would have grounds to recall her.
