My grandpappy told me on more than one occasion to make myself useful by going out and playing in traffic. I took his advice and how be damned if people didn’t acknowledge what a useful lad I was. They honked, shouted and waved a one finger salute. Why I couldn’t believe all the attention I was getting. I do believe all those drivers appreciated the thought and industry it took a youngster to make a general nuisance of himself. Hell, I was the talk of the town. However, for some reason, my parents didn’t approve of my usefulness and beat my ass when all I did was follow grandpappy’s advice.
The above tale is an example of cognitive dissonance which seems to be the latest trend in protesting. Who in their right mind believes blocking traffic would engender sympathy to a cause? Did it work for the Black Lives Matter movement? Of course, not. So, why would a band of illegal aliens in Michigan think it could work for them?

Immigrant rights protesters block streets in downtown Grand Rapids
Grand Rapids resident Guadalupe Diaz said she remembers a time in her life when every time she drove, she was afraid of being taken away from her children.
She said she lived in fear without a driver’s license for 25 years until she could change her legal status and get one, which is why she joined hundreds of other marchers on May 1 for an immigrants’ right march.
“We are working for dignity in our lives,” she said. “As immigrants we deserve to have a decent life like any other member of the community and by that we need to have a driver’s license and have a path for immigration as well.”
Organized by Movimiento Cosecha GR, “Gran Marcha del Puente del 1o. Mayo” started at Roosevelt Park and ended in Clyde Park in Downtown Grand Rapids, roughly a three-mile march.
As they moved through Grand Rapids and blocked traffic on some of the city’s streets, the protesters asked for respect, dignity and the rights of “under-documented immigrants” to have driver’s licenses.
Karla Barberi, a volunteer organizer for Movimiento Cosecha, said one of the most terrifying experiences for an undocumented worker is being pulled over by the police.
They demand respect? Let’s see, these illegals invaded our country then decided to rub our noses in it by blocking traffic on a Marxist holiday chanting “Whose streets? Our streets!”
Winning friends and influencing people. Now that is a perfect example of cognitive dissonance.
