IPCC Uses Questionable Data on Global Warming

It seems the United Nations panel on global warming has been using questionable data. The Telegraph is reporting that the IPCC used a college student's dissertation paper and articles from a mountaineering magazine, as proof of the melting ice caps on the worlds highest mountain ranges. The IPCC also used 16 non-peer reviewed reports from the World Wildlife Fund.

It looks like the layers of this stinky onion are revealing some nefarious activities. Remember the Professors of greed from East Anglia University and Pennsylvania State University? Yeah, the ones who demonized the "deniers" by questioning their data and motives.

These professors and their advocates demonized their opponents by questioning their status as climatologist; that they had no peer reviewed papers; or worse, that they were being paid off by "Big Oil". Now we know the truth. It is now being revealed how much money these universities are making in the form of government grants, and also from various businesses who stand to make a fortune at the expense of American taxpayers.

Now the microscope is turning on the IPCC and the questionable characters on its board:

Roger Sedjo, a senior research fellow at the US research organisation Resources for the Future who also contributed to the IPCC's latest report, added: "The IPCC is, unfortunately, a highly political organisation with most of the secretariat bordering on climate advocacy. "It needs to develop a more balanced and indeed scientifically sceptical behaviour pattern. The organisation tend to select the most negative studies ignoring more positive alternatives."

And it seems that the top scoundrel is the chairman Rajendra Pachauri:

The chair of the IPCC Rajendra Pachauri has faced mounting pressure and calls for his resignation amid the growing controversy over the error on glacier melting and use of unreliable sources of information.

A survey of 400 authors and contributors to the IPCC report showed, however, that the majority still support Mr Pachauri and the panel's vice chairs. They also insisted the overall findings of the report are robust despite the minor errors.

Chairman Pachauri has his fingers in various alternative energy companies, and stands to make a fortune in carbon trading. He is also a vegetarian who is making demands on the world to cut down on its meat consumption.

I guess Lord Acton's maxim is correct: Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

FDR and Obama: Two Peas In A Pod

There are parallels between FDR and the Obama administration that are frighteningly similar.

The financial crisis of the 30’s in many respects is similar to today's, and the actions of both presidents mirror the other; if not their predecessors. Herbert Hoover in response to the financial crisis started the Reconstruction Finance Corporation to help the failing banks and industries that were under duress. George W. Bush did the same with TARP.

Barack Obama didn't have the luxury of time to criticize Bush for the dispensation of TARP money; yet he did vote for it. But his rhetoric was similar to FDR’s in the condemnation of big business, Wall Street and government spending by the existing administration.

FDR attacked Hoover for the, “most reckless spending and extravagant past that I have been able to discover in the statistical record of any peacetime government anywhere, any time.” Obama did the same with Bush and by extension his opponent John McCain; particularly on the amount of money that was spent on the war effort.

Once FDR was sworn in, he established the Emergency Banking Act which gave considerable discretion to the treasury without congressional oversight. This happened under Bush and continues under Obama.

FDR promised to balance the budget. Obama promised to cut the deficit. The former never met that pledge, and the later is exploding the deficit.

Roosevelt used the Reconstruction and Finance Corporation for political purposes. The RFC was used to fund newspapers, businesses, and causes that were favorable to the New Deal. Today’s democrats are talking about bailing out certain newspapers, and they used the stimulus bill to fund their personal pet projects and causes.

The policies of Roosevelt exasperated and prolonged the depression. His hostility towards businesses created a sense of uncertainty that stymied investment, expansion and the hiring of employees. He didn’t change his attitude until the outbreak of WWII when he realized he needed them. Many debate when the depression ended. A compelling case has been made that it didn’t end until after the war.

Obama seems to emulate the demagoguery of FDR. His demonization of businesses, industries, and the past administration has propelled him to the presidency. It seems he has more in common with FDR than we thought, right down to the radicals and communist sympathizers that infest their respective administrations.

If history has taught us anything, we are in for a wild ride. I guess we can expect the IRS and other federal agencies to harass political opponents. After all, that is what FDR did.

Obama: Thumb Sucker In Chief

I want to see Barack Obama’s thumb. I wonder how disfigured it is from being sucked all the time.

Last nights State of The Union address was un-presidential; if not out right creepy. He reminded me of Hugo Chavez. Obama blamed everybody, but himself for the financial crisis that we are in. He demonized the banks, big businesses, talk show host, members of congress, the Supreme Court, and even the American people for undermining his policies.

Obama out right lied when he said that 95% of the American people received a tax cut. Really? Somehow I missed out. He stated lobbyist are banned from HIS White House. Eric Erickson of RedState.com listed a bunch of lobbyist who are in the Obama Administration.

Obama stated the following:

We can't afford another so-called economic "expansion" like the one from the last decade –- what some call the "lost decade" -– where jobs grew more slowly than during any prior expansion; where the income of the average American household declined while the cost of health care and tuition reached record highs; where prosperity was built on a housing bubble and financial speculation.

Lost decade? That’s the first time I’ve heard the last decade as a “lost” one. The only truth in that statement was “where prosperity was built on a housing bubble and financial speculation”. Obama didn’t mention the federal government’s role, along with the policies of the Federal Reserve that created the conditions for that fiasco.

It amazes me how tone deaf this guy is. When he proclaimed that there are people who “disagree with the overwhelming scientific evidence on climate change”, I laughed out loud, as did many congressman. Is Obama not aware of the scandal committed by climatologist? Or the record amount of snowfall?

He is in denial of the repudiation of the democrat’s health care plan by the American people. From the tea parties, polls, and the last elections where republicans trounced their competitors; Obama refuses to concede. You would have thought that after the loss of Massachusetts senate seat, he would scrap that socialist monstrosity. No, he knows what’s best, and won’t stop fighting for “us”. What an arrogant ass.

It was particularly appalling when Obama attacked the Supreme Court for actually defending the Constitution. The gall of this guy is simply astounding. Obama received millions in campaign donations from people in other countries; yet, he condemns this ruling. What is worse, he outright lied about what the ruling was about. Justice Alito shook his head and mouthed “that’s not true.”

The last five minutes were really weird. Obama tried to distance himself from Washington:

But what frustrates the American people is a Washington where every day is Election Day. We can't wage a perpetual campaign where the only goal is to see who can get the most embarrassing headlines about the other side -– a belief that if you lose, I win. Neither party should delay or obstruct every single bill just because they can. The confirmation of -- () -- I'm speaking to both parties now. The confirmation of well-qualified public servants shouldn't be held hostage to the pet projects or grudges of a few individual senators.

Washington may think that saying anything about the other side, no matter how false, no matter how malicious, is just part of the game. But it's precisely such politics that has stopped either party from helping the American people. Worse yet, it's sowing further division among our citizens, further distrust in our government.

Well that is rich. Does this guy ever reflect upon his statements? Obama is one of the biggest demagogues in Washington. And he lectures everyone else? Wow!!

I believe it is dawning on the American people what kind of president we have, and they should be worried. And the democrats who were in attendance showed their “awakening” in the last five minutes of that speech.

Jews Under Attack In Sweden

The Jewish population in Malmo, Sweden are under attack by left wing zealots and their accomplices: Muslim immigrants. These groups have physically attacked and harassed a beleaguered minority. It is so bad that Jews have to employ their own security force. Many are leaving for the sanctuary of Israel.

Malmo is a hot bed of discontent. In December of 2008 a group of squatters lived in an office basement of an Islamic cultural center. They were protesting the landlords decision not to renew the lease which they held for 15 years. The results were riots.

The lawless scum attacked the police and first responders with Molotov cocktails and other missiles. The first responders refused to go into the area without a guarantee of safety. Gothenburg and Stockholm sent in relief forces to help their beleaguered colleagues.

How many times have we seen this? France had similar riots. Britain has no-go zones were the indigenous peoples dare not enter. Jews are under assault throughout Europe. And what do they all have in common? Muslim immigrants.

Europeans must stop this self-loathing and stand up to their leaders and the left-wing thugs whose boot are on their collective throats. These Muslim immigrants do not respect your laws, culture or history. Islam means submit and the sooner you figure that out the safer you'll be.

Obama Awards No-Bid Contract to Crony.

It seems Obama broke another campaign promise by awarding a no-bid contract to a consulting firm. Checchi & Co. Consulting Inc is to receive about $25 million for "rule of law stabilization services" in Afghanistan.

USAID posted the contract on its website on Jan 4, 2010. The administrator of USAID admitted that their was a waiver established for Checchi. There are many other companies who provide the exact same services and were excluded from the process.

Checci donated close to the maximum amount to Obama, and has made donations to the Democratic National Committee, activist organizations such as MoveOn.org and ACT Blue. Checci also donated to other democratic candidates as well.

I guess Obama's "hope and change" promises were just a bunch of bunk. I'm not surprised. Are you?

N.C. Commission Investigates Poverty

I found this article on Civitas: http://www.nccivitas.org/media/publication-archive/perspective/policies-should-promote-wealth-creation

Policies Should Promote Wealth Creation

Brian Balfour January 12, 2010

This article originally appeared in the Jan. 10 2010 edition of the Durham Herald-Sun

What causes poverty?

That's what North Carolina's "Poverty Reduction and Economic Recovery Commission" -- which met again last week -- claims to be investigating. Specifically, the law that created the commission declares "an understanding of the causes and effects of poverty are critical in the reduction of poverty and economic recovery."

Seems logical enough: In order to reduce poverty we must first understand its causes. Sadly, however, the commission (comprised mostly of state legislators and agency heads) has got it completely backwards. There is in fact no cause of poverty. Indeed, poverty was the natural state of mankind for most of human history. As authors Nathan Rosenberg and L.E. Birdzell Jr. wrote in their book "How the West Grew Rich," "If we take the long view of human history and judge the economic lives of our ancestors by modern standards, it is a story of almost unrelieved wretchedness. The typical human society has given only a small number of people a humane existence, while the great majority have lived in abysmal squalor."

As human societies evolved over time, several nations grew wealthy while many others failed to develop far beyond the original state of basic sustenance.

Poverty, in reality, is the absence of wealth creation.

The focus of the commission's attention, then, should not be what causes poverty, but what causes wealth and prosperity. After all, there is a reason Adam Smith titled his epic treatise "An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations" rather than "An Inquiry into the Causes of Poverty."

North Carolina's "Poverty Reduction Commission," however, seems completely disinterested in learning how wealth creation can relieve poverty. The commission's focus, rather, is centered on how to subsidize poverty through expanded government programs.

Indeed, the policy recommendations being discussed include a well-worn list of wealth redistribution programs such as increasing subsidies for low-income housing, increasing the refundable Earned Income Tax Credit and expansion of government health insurance programs. Such programs subsidize poverty to the extent they reward unproductive behavior, creating the perverse incentive for recipients to avoid accepting work lest they lose their government benefits.

Completely absent from the commission's discussion are policies to actually create economic growth, jobs and increase income. Curiously, not a single word of concern has yet been raised about the money that first must be removed from the private, productive economy to finance the new or expanded government programs.

In order to truly lift people out of poverty, the commission should be focused not on expanding the welfare state, but on encouraging productive activities that will generate opportunities for our state's poor.

After all, to paraphrase Ronald Reagan, the best social welfare program is a job. But how can the state best promote economic growth and opportunity? As the late, Nobel-prize winning economist Milton Friedman put it, "the record of history is absolutely crystal clear; that there is no alternative way so far discovered of improving the lot of the ordinary people that can hold a candle to the productive activities that are unleashed by a free enterprise system."

If North Carolina's poverty reduction commission were truly interested in improving the lives of our state's poor, they would be seeking ways to unshackle the state's economy from high levels of taxation, regulation, government spending and wealth redistribution schemes. Rather than rewarding unproductive behavior by expanding the welfare state, North Carolina lawmakers should incentivize wealth creation and sustainable job growth

Disappointingly, North Carolina's promotion of a free enterprise system leaves a lot to be desired. The Pacific Research Institute's U.S. Economic Freedom Index (EFI) is the most comprehensive and current assessment of economic freedom of all 50 states. In the 2008 EFI rankings, North Carolina came in a dismal 36th (with 1 being the most free), down 12 slots from 2004. The drop was the second largest slide of any state during that time.

The EFI's rankings suggest that North Carolina's poverty problems have been exacerbated by public policies that don't square with promoting "the productive activities that are unleashed by a free enterprise system" credited for lifting so many across the world out of poverty.

The Poverty Reduction and Economic Recovery Commission will present its final report and recommendations when North Carolina's General Assembly session reconvenes in the spring. Here's hoping the commission will come to recognize that the best way to reduce poverty is not with more business-as-usual wealth redistribution schemes but through policies that strengthen economic freedom and encourage job-creating productive activities.

General Electric: A History of Corporate Fascism

When Barack Obama and the democrats passed their monstrous stimulus bill; General Electric was right there trying to figure out how to fleece the taxpayer, according to an article by the Wall Street Journal:

“As the bill worked its way through Congress, GE lobbyists pressed for grants, tax cuts or rebates aimed at businesses GE is engaged in, including provisions worth more than $80 billion for energy projects, appliances, health-care information systems and wind farms. GE would have to compete with rivals for a share of these grants.

When the stimulus package was rolled out, Mr. Immelt instructed executives leading the company's major business units "to put together swat teams to get stimulus money, and [identify] who to fire if they don't get the money," says a person who heard him issue the instructions.”

In the early part of the twentieth century Mussolini’s Italy was the fashion of the day. Time magazine admirably wrote, “Possibly Italy’s Benito Mussolini will be the Man of the Year when his new Corporative State begins to show results.” Many in FDR’s administration admired the dictator.

General Electric president Gerard Swope had fascistic designs on American businesses when he proposed a plan in which trade associations would determine how much each company would produce and its price. G.E. chairman Owen Young stated that a government run economy would involve “the voluntary surrender of a certain amount of individual freedom by the majority and the ultimate coercion of the minority.”

President Hoover dismissed the plan as “the most gigantic proposal of monopoly ever made in history.”

When FDR defeated Hoover, he wasted no time implementing just such measures; it was called the National Industrial Recovery Act: NRA for short. This plan was a boon for big businesses. The federal government used the force of law to stymie smaller competitors, by forcing them to pay above market wages, and to sell their product and services at higher prices. Those who did not comply were fined and thrown into jail. Such laws benefited companies like General Electric. The NRA lasted two years before the United States Supreme Court found the law unconstitutional and was struck down.

Today General Electric is more powerful than ever. It owns networks such as NBC and MSNBC and uses this medium, in the guise of journalism, to propel its interest by attacking those who disagree with the leviathan.

Fox News exposed this journalistic malpractice:

It is time to stop corporate welfare, and laws that favor one company over another.

States Rights On The Rise

The United States Congress is in deliberation to raise the legal ceiling of borrowing to over 13 TRILLION dollars. The treasury "needs" this amount in order to meet its obligations through the fall of this year.

The fiscal irresponsibility of the federal government along with their unfunded mandates are putting individual states in an untenable position. Many states are finding it difficult to meet their budgets and are beginning to resist the lords from D.C..

South Carolina is the latest to rebel:

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION TO AFFIRM THE RIGHTS OF ALL STATES INCLUDING SOUTH CAROLINA BASED ON THE PROVISIONS OF THE NINTH AND TENTH AMENDMENTS TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION.

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly declares that the people of this State have the sole and exclusive right of governing themselves as a free, sovereign, and independent State, and shall exercise and enjoy every power, jurisdiction, and right pertaining thereto, which is not expressly delegated by them to the United States of America in the congress assembled; and

Whereas, some states when ratifying the Constitution for the United States of America recommended as a change, "that it be explicitly declared that all powers not expressly and particularly delegated by the aforesaid are reserved to the several states to be by them exercised"; and

Whereas, these recommended changes were incorporated as the Ninth Amendment, where the enumeration of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people, and as the Tenth Amendment, where the powers not delegated to the United States by the constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people; and

Whereas, the several states of the United States of America, through the Constitution and the amendments thereto, constituted a general government for special purposes and delegated to that government certain definite powers, reserving each state to itself, the residuary right to their own self government. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the

Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of South Carolina, based on the above principles and provisions, hereby declares by this resolution, that any act by the Congress of the United States, Executive Order of the President of the United States, or Judicial Order by the federal courts which assumes a power not delegated to the government of the United States of America by the Constitution and which serves to diminish the liberty of any of the several states or their citizens shall abridge the Constitution. The General Assembly further declares that acts which would cause such an abridgment include, but are not limited to:

(1) establishing martial law or a state of emergency within one of the states comprising the United States of America without the consent of the legislature of that state;

(2) requiring involuntary servitude, or governmental service other than a draft during a declared war, or pursuant to, or as an alternative to, incarceration after due process of law;

(3) requiring involuntary servitude or governmental service of persons under the age of eighteen other than pursuant to, or as an alternative to, incarceration after due process of law;

(4) surrendering any power delegated or not delegated to any corporation or foreign government;

(5) any act regarding religion, further limitations on freedom of political speech, or further limitations on freedom of the press; and

(6) further infringements on the right to keep and bear arms including prohibitions of type or quantity of arms or ammunition.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the United States Senate, the United States House of Representatives, and each member of the South Carolina Congressional Delegation.

It seems that the people are beginning to wake up. State sovereignty is on the rise.

Earthquake in Massachusetts

I believe the earth shook when Massachusetts voted Scott Brown as its next senator. Already the Dem's are making excuses for their parties loss.

Martha Coakley made many gaffs during her campaign; especially the one where she stated that the famed Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling was a Yankee fan. It is hard to believe that she could have made such a bone headed mistake as that. I have met my share of people from Mass. and everyone of them were die hard Boston Red Sox fans. I might add they were all democrats as well.

Now we can look toward to the fall out. The so-called news agencies such an MSNBC will sick their dogs on Scott Brown and those who voted him into office:

When the republican revolution happened in 1994, the media called the electorate a bunch of cry babies throwing a temper tantrum as demonstrated by Peter Jennings of ABC News. It was the angry white man throwing his ass.

Now today's media, same as the old media, are now calling those who are protesting the outrageous amount of spending and government takeovers as a bunch of "tea baggers". I guess this is some sexual term that the deviants in the democratic party are aware of; unlike the majority of Americans.

It seems Chris Matthews of MNBC has a clue; as demonstrated with this interview with Howard Dean:

Will the democrats finally understand why they lost a senate seat in the bluest of the blue states? I doubt it.

United States Loses Ranking in Economic Freedom

The Heritage Foundation in conjunction with the Wall Street Journal conducted its annual report, Index of Economic Freedom. The report distinguishes the most free countries in the world based on the following criteria:

  1. Burdensome of government on business and entrepreneurs.
  2. Intrusiveness of government
  3. Fundamental societal characteristics

It would surprise many Americans to find out that the United States is ranked #8 behind Canada and just above Denmark. Or maybe not, considering what has happened in the past couple of years.

Anonymous Defends Congressman Larry Kissell

I received a comment on my post entitled: Congressman Kissell Raids Treasury. The person who left the comment stated the following:

"Anonymous said...

This is HORRIBLE! Do the taxpayers know they are getting their money back in roads, sewers, fire trucks and stuff? Gawd, I HATE him. That was DC money! Why should he bring it back? I mean it's not like he's in Congress or anything."

As you can see, there seems to be a disconnect as to who actually owns the money. The commenter believes it is D.C.'s. I contend that it actually belongs to the taxpayer. This person also doesn't comprehend that the federal government doesn't create wealth; rather it confiscates and redistributes it after if gets its cut to pay for the various bureaucracies.

It is quite interesting to look back and find out what our founding fathers thought about the federal governments role in confiscating the citizenry's wealth and using it to promote and pay for infrastructure programs.

Alexander Hamilton published his Report on Manufacturers in 1791 in which he wrote, "The public purse must supply the deficiency of private resource. In what can it be so useful as in prompting and improving the efforts of industry."

But it was Thomas Jefferson's own secretary of the treasury who actually provided a detailed plan for internal improvements. Albert Gallatin promoted a 10 year plan for a government financed and supervised canal and road building system. It was aptly named The Gallatin Plan.

John Quincy Adams made proposals that would "checker" the country with railroads and canals.

So you have to ask yourself why did these programs not come into fruition? Who put a stop to these programs?

It was men like Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, John C. Calhoun, and Andrew Jackson who stood in their way. They decried that such programs were unconstitutional.

When the Erie Canal was brought forth to the federal government for financing; Jefferson turned it down, as did Madison during his presidency.

Henry Clay tried to sneak a 1.5 million dollar internal improvement subsidy through congress. Madison squashed it:

[D]ecided it was time to teach the nation a lesson in constitutionalism. . . . The
. . . bill, he said, failed to take into account the fact that Congress had enumerated powers under section eight of the first article of the Constitution, ‘and it does not appear that the power proposed to be exercized in the bill is among the enumerated powers, or that it falls by any just interpretation within the power to make the laws necessary and proper’ for carrying other constitutional powers into execution
.

Madison further stated that if they want taxpayer monies to go to such programs, it would require a constitutional amendment.

Henry Clay was also foiled by Andrew Jackson on many such bills.

So, without federal government subsidies, who built the roads and canals?

In Daniel B. Klein's “The Voluntary Provision of Public Goods? The Turnpike Companies of Early America,” he wrote:
As early as 1800, before the internal improvements debate even commenced, there were sixty-nine private road-building companies that were chartered by the states.14 In the next three decades, writes Klein,The [private road-building] movement built new roads at rates previously unheard of in America. Over $11 million was invested in turnpikes in New York, some $6.5 million in New England, and over $4.5 million in Pennsylvania. . . . Between 1794
and 1840, 238 private New England turnpike companies built and operated about 3,750 miles of road. New York led all other states in turnpike mileage with over 4,000 as of 1821. Pennsylvania was second, reaching a peak of about 2,400 miles in 1832. New Jersey companies operated 50 miles by 1821 . . . [B]etween 1810 and 1845 over 400[private turnpikes were chartered and built

Individual states began to finance roads, canals, and railroads; which nearly bankrupted them. Many states amended their constitutions so as to stop subsidization of such projects. New York's Erie Canal is the one project that many point to as a success. But the railroad soon rendered it obsolete after 15 years. It officially shut down in 1913.

It wasn't until Lincoln won the election, and the secession of the southern states that the federal government began to go hog wild on subsidizing infrastructure projects; especially railroads. Lincoln, a former whig, believed in these projects and in order to finance them would have had to raise tariffs. This would have had a deleterious effect on the south; and they rebelled.

The two railroads that received funding from the federal government were the Union Pacific and Central Pacific Railroads. After much waste, and using shoddy material they went bankrupt shorty after its completion in 1869.

Many say that big projects such as railroads would never have come to fruition without the involvement and financing of a government entity. That is not true. The Great Northern Railroad did not receive any financing or assistance from any government entity; and they were profitable.

The Mormons built four railroads in Utah without one dime from the feds. New Hampshire and Vermont did not subsidize private companies and those companies built railroads throughout those mountainous states. New Hampshire didn't even intervene with eminent domain; forcing the companies to pay market prices for property.

During Reconstruction, programs that were designed to rebuild the South's infrastructure were replete with corruption and waste. It was known as the Era of Good Stealings. Grants administration is probably known as one of the most corrupt in history thanks to the incompetency of federal bureaucrats.

With the implementation of the federal reserve in 1913 and repeal of the gold standard in 1971, we have seen outrageous spending by our so-called representatives in congress. It seems that everyday is Christmas in Washington D.C.; but their gifts are just going to bankrupt the country.

So I say yes Virginia (anonymous), there is a Santa Claus. He just doesn't work for the government.

Senator Kay Hagan Cost Millions in NC Medicaid Fraud & Waste

It seems that Senator Kay Hagan was playing politics with North Carolina's medicaid program, while she was in the general assembly. Back in 2003, the republicans proposed the purchase of a software that would cut down on fraud and waste. Senator Kay Hagan killed it in committee.

The following excerpts were published in the Cary News.Com., written by staff writter, Benjamin Niolet:

"U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan argued from the Senate floor last week about the importance of using advanced software to root out and prevent billions of dollars worth of fraud in health care.
When the same idea came across her desk in the state legislature six years ago, Hagan all but ignored it.

In 2003, Hagan was co-chairwoman of the appropriations committee in the state Senate. The committee, which assembles the state budget, is one of the most powerful in the legislature. And it was there that a Republican-backed proposal to use software to prevent health care fraud withered and died.

Hagan, a Greensboro Democrat, said she doesn't remember the 2003 bill. Hagan's office subsequently said the software Hagan is advocating for the federal government is more advanced than the products available in 2003."

Apparently, a program is only good if a democrat proposes such tax savings programs. The ariticle continues:

"North Carolina's legislature voted this year to purchase such anti-fraud software. Republicans who have supported the idea for years say the Democrats who run the state legislature missed a chance in 2003 to save hundreds of millions annually. "

"We're going to send Kay Hagan a bill for $600 million," said state Rep. Paul Stam, an Apex Republican and the House's minority leader."

What is odd about this bill is that Hagan co-sponsored this bill and apparently killed it in committee:

"In the state Senate, Hagan was among the co-sponsors of Pittenger's bill, which died in the chamber's appropriations committee. Pittenger said in an interview that Hagan, as co-chairwoman of the committee, had the power to advance the bill to the Senate floor. Senate records do not show whether the bill got a hearing or if Hagan was personally responsible for the bill's stagnation."

So, I ask what had changed Senator Kay Hagans mind and bring the exact same proposal to the floor of the United States Senate?:

"The proposals were so similar that both Pittenger in 2003 and Hagan this week specifically mentioned Cary-based SAS as a company that has developed suitable software. SAS CEO Jim Goodnight and his wife, Ann Goodnight, contributed $4,000 to Hagan's U.S. Senate campaign."

Senator Hagan gave the following reason as to why North Carolina did not purchase this software:

"Later, her spokesman, Dave Hoffman, would not specifically say why Hagan did not advance the bill through her committee. He did say software in 2003 would not catch fraud schemes such as "doctor shopping," in which a patient gets the same prescription from multiple doctors."

So why are North Carolina's democrats now implementing this cost saving program?:

"What changed," Stam said, "is they were so desperate for money and they realized if they were going to be short on Medicaid money, they had to stop wasting so much of it."

Well what do you know? Go figure?

CONGRESSMAN LARRY KISSELL RAIDS TREASURY

I received a brochure in the mail the other day from Congressman Larry Kissell; in it he boasted the following:

$1 BILLION TAX DOLLARS COMING HOME TO THE EIGHTH DISTRICT

During his First Year in office Congressman Larry Kissell has been able to secure more than $1billion in federal funding for the citizens of the Eighth District.

“Making sure our District is receiving the federal funding we need to create jobs, rebuild infrastructure, protect our teachers and make our communities safe is one of my top priorities. It is important that we continue to make sure your tax dollars are working for you. I am proud to report that we’ve been able to secure more than $1billion for much-needed projects across our 10 counties in the Eighth District.”-Larry Kissell.

Larry Kissell has been in office one year, and he already has found the knack to fleece the taxpayer. His pamphlet outlined the various programs that are funded. Some of these counties got screwed. It seems that Mecklenburg, Anson and Cumberland counties got a huge portion of the largess. If I were a resident of these other counties, I would feel like I got the shaft. I wonder what the criteria Congressman Kissell uses as to who gets what.

Some of these programs are suspect such as:

.Weatherization: $16,300,309
· Energy Conservation: $10,881,300
· Recovery Zone Bonds: $1.7 billion

There are a number of other programs outlined in this pamphlet that are equally questionable.

The Eighth District is fairly conservative. If he has procured this amount of money for his district, I wonder what the other 434 are getting. Can you imagine what Nancy Pelosi has funded?

I wonder if Congressman Kissell knows where this money is coming from. It seems that money grows on trees in Washington D.C.; or trees converted into paper for the treasury to print out as fast as it can.

Hold onto your wallets people, Larry Kissell is coming to town.

RISING TIDE OF DISCONTENT

I hope Senator Kay Hagan takes note of this rising tide of discontent. However, I believe she is tone deaf. Her next election isn't until 2014, and probably thinks that we will forget all about her statist power grabbing.

I have news for her...WE WILL NOT FORGET!!!

SPANISH LANGUAGE ROAD SIGNS IN AMERICAN TOWNS

Spanish language signs seem to be popping up all around the country. It isn't enough that we have to press one for English; now we are subjected to a foreign language that is becoming ubiquitous.

Businesses and municipalities are catering to a community that for the most part refuses to assimilate. Billboards and street signs litter the streets and highways of America. And if you are not careful it will cost you. A man from Arlington, Texas received a ticket for not being able to read a sign that was written in Spanish.

York, Pennsylvania is now making signs so that Latinos will be aware of snow emergency routes; failure to move your vehicle will result in having it towed.

Laws alone do not make a nation. It is language and culture that binds us. And those who are recalcitrant in assimilating should feel the full discomfort of alienation. We should not accommodate these people.

During the great waves of immigration prior to 1965, Americans devoted themselves to "Americanizing" the new arrivals. It was a social crusade to make them citizens. Everyone from businessmen, educators, social workers, the clergy, and political leaders actively promoted the acculturation of immigrants.

Companies such as Ford Motor Company, U.S. Steel, and International Harvester sponsored Americanization programs along with various chamber of commerces throughout the country. These programs taught immigrants civics, and how to speak English.

The YMCA and other nonprofits also participated; along with individual citizens who founded various organizations to promote the American way of life. Eventually their grass roots efforts grew to the state level where they too established Americanization programs. Finally the federal government got involved with the establishment of the Bureau of Naturalization programs.

Programs to instill integration, national pride, and patriotism faded in the 60's. Now the prevailing zeitgeist is multiculturalism, diversity, and a general self-loathing. The history classes of today teach students that our forefathers were a bunch of criminals; enslaving, murdering, and stealing not just from the indigenous peoples, but from those around the world.

If we don't enforce our borders; acculturate these immigrant diaspora; and instill pride and patriotism into our youth; we as a nation shall perish from the earth.

AARP IN BED WITH OBAMA ADMINISTRATION

Bloomberg News is reporting that the Obama administration wants to start a dialogue on how to convert retirement savings into a reliable stream of revenue for retirees: “The U. S. Treasury and Labor departments will ask for public comment as soon as this week on ways to promote the conversion of 401(k) savings and Individual Retirement Accounts into annuities or other steady payment streams, according to Assistant Labor Secretary Phyllis C. Borzi and Deputy Assistant Treasury Secretary Mark Iwry, who are spearheading the effort.”

After the 2008 stock market contraction, which many saw a 30% plus decline in their portfolios, the federal government has taken it upon themselves to protect investors from the vicissitudes of the market. Rahm Emmanuel’s dictum: never let a crisis go to waste; is about to play out before our very eyes; and AARP is about to benefit once again from policies propelled by the Obama administration.

In the ensuing health care debate (if one wishes to call it a debate) the democrats proposed to cut $400 billion in Medicare and $150 billion in Medicare Advantage. Medicare Advantage gives seniors the option to join private plans that pay upwards to 12% in health care benefits than traditional Medicare. This cut would be a cash cow for AARP through its Medigap program, which is a supplemental insurance program to Medicaid. Medigap produces 70% of AARP’s annual income.

It seems that AARP is about to have another “windfall profit”. In 2007 AARP announced they were getting into the annuity business with New York Life Insurance Co. Now members of the Obama administration are trying to convert retirement savings into annuities. Just how cozy is AARP with the federal government and the current administration?

Barry Rand CEO of AARP gave Barack Obama the maximum donation of $8900 and a total amount of $15,900 to democratic candidates dating back to 1995.

AARP gets millions in grants from the federal government. John Carlisle wrote an article in Human Events outlining the largess:

Five cabinet level agencies dispense grants to AARP. The large majority of the money comes from one Department of Labor grant. For the year ending December 31, 2003 when AARP received $68 million in federal funding, the Labor Department gave AARP $63.3 million for its Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), a job training program for low-income senior citizens. The second largest federal grant maker is the IRS. That year, the IRS gave AARP $3.4 million as part of the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program, which provides volunteers to help seniors complete their federal taxes. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) gave $626,279 for its Housing Counseling Assistance Program.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) gave $444,493 for various special programs, typically legal assistance and Medicare fraud prevention programs. The Department of Justice (DOJ) gave $15,000 for telemarketing fraud prevention. The Labor Department’s SCSEP grant for the year beginning in July 2004 and ending in July 2005 was $75 million, which accounts for nearly 90 percent of the $83 million in federal grant money AARP received as of December 31, 2004. The proposed IRS grant for the TCE program in fiscal year 2006 is $4.1 million.

AARP is a registered non-for-profit organization. However, it makes millions on royalties and service provider management fees from its corporate sponsors, while receiving grants from the federal government. It seems that this organization has a special status, unlike any other organization. And right now they are dictating policy that profits them at the expense of the citizenry.

SENATOR FEINGOLD GETS AN EARFUL WHILE SENATOR KAY HAGAN COWERS

Senator Russ Feingold of Wisconsin held a town hall meeting in Winnabago County this last Thursday. The hall was filled to capacity. People were lined up against the walls and sitting in the aisles, patiently waiting to vent their frustrations to an apathetic, paternalistic politician.

The session lasted only an hour and a half. All topics were on the table, but it was health care that dominated the night. Senator Feingold was besieged by outraged citizens who were not happy with congresses secrecy, and utilization of closed door sessions. Feingold agreed on this point, but little else. One man asked how the bill complied with the constitution. Feingold dismissed the inquiry with an off-handed remark that he didn't know; and that the courts would have to decide.

There was once a time that our politicians -- statesman at the time -- debated the constitutionality of bills that was put forth on the floor of congress; not anymore.

I will give Senator Feingold credit for at least facing his constituents. Senator Kay Hagan of North Carolina is no where to be found.

I and thousands of other North Carolinians called and wrote Senator Hagan as to when and where she was going to hold a town hall meeting. We got no replies or were dismissed out of hand. She did not hold one meeting that I am aware of.

Wilmington, North Carolina held a mock town hall meeting using a cardboard-cutout effigy of Senator Hagan. This did not even persuade the cowardly Hagan to come out from underneath her desk. It seems that she is content to rule from afar, and keep her distance from the unwashed masses.

Senator Russ Feingold may be a statist and condescending socialist; but at least he has the decency to face the "angry mob".

PRINCESS PELOSI GETS ROYAL TREATMEAT AT AUTO SHOW

Nancy Pelosi and her entourage flew into Detroit, at taxpayers expense, to inspect the new line of vehicles at the annual auto show. Since the United States Government owns 61% of General Motors and 10% of Chrysler; the new owners were treated to a preview.

The plebians have to wait for the official opening, which is January 16.

Pelosi and her fellow statist patted themselves on the back while inspecting the new "green technology" vehicles: the Chevrolet Volt and Chevrolet Cruze. "We've seen ideas turned into policy turned into product," she squealed.

A group of protesters stood outside in the freezing weather. They are not pleased about the government bailouts, and its intrusion into the industry. The Congressional Oversight Panel doubts that the 23 billion of TARP money that was loaned to General Motors and Chrysler will ever be paid.

"It wasn't about lending to automakers; it was about the survival of an industry," Pelosi said, "The survival of the auto industry is essential to a strong industrial, technological and manufacturing base in our country. And that industrial base is essential to our national security."

Now that is rich. Nancy Pelosi concerned about our national security? More like concerned about the union voters who are crucial to the democratic party.

Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood said, "This industry would not be seeing the bright future it's seeing today if it weren't for the governments involvement."

It is the governments involvement that helped to bring about this disaster by imposing costly regulations, stringent labor laws, and high taxes; not to mention bureaucrats who dictate what kind of vehicles the automakers should manufacturer. Afterall, who is more omniscient than a politician?

As Nancy Pelosi braves the cold, Michigan weather from the limosine to her government provided plane, I wonder if she will ponder the folly of the biggest scam perpetuated on the world: man-made global warming. I doubt it. If anything she is scheduling an appointment with her plastic surgeon to correct the wind damage done to her face.

SENATOR KAY HAGAN FISCALLY CONSERVATIVE?

Senator Kay Hagan described herself as a fiscally conservative democrat in an article by the Greensboro News and Record, dated 12/27/09, which is posted on her website. After going through her press releases, also posted on her website, it becomes quite apparent that she is anything but fiscally responsible. Its astonishing the amount of money she has appropriated for businesses, municipalities, and various special interest groups in the false premise of stimulating North Carolina’s economy; particularly for specious projects such as “green energy”.

Senator Hagan is obviously a Keynesian. What she doesn’t understand is that in order to fund all of these projects, she is taking money out of the pockets of her constituents, sending it through the federal bureaucracies that take a huge cut, and recycling it back through the local communities. What is really offensive is that SHE gets to pick and choose which supplicants is worthy of our money, instead of citizens through the processes of the free market.

It is quite evident that Senator Hagan is a fervent believer in the global warming/climate change hoax, and is forcing her flawed ideology on the rest of us at great expense. It seems that she is also an advocate for the flawed policies of FDR and the New Deal, which becomes apparent through all of the government projects that she has advocated through grants to local municipalities and select businesses.

· 11/18/09 $946,034 – Employment Security Commission for propaganda purposes
· 11/18/09 $100,000 – Telamon non-for-profit organization for migrant workers (illegal aliens)

Senator Kay Hagan has been in office for a year and look at the amount of money that has been spent! Who does she think is going to pay for all of this? Every dollar she has earmarked for her pet projects is one less dollar taken from the private sector. Government does not create wealth; government redistributes it.

If our “fiscally conservative” senator is this irresponsible, I would hate to find out what the others have spent.

Everyone wants to live at the expense of the state. They forget that the state lives at the expense of everyone else.—Frederic Bastiat.

ACTIVIST FORCED TO EAT MEAT AND USED AS LATRINES

I found this post on Glossynews.com

Johnstown, PA (GlossyNews) – Local and state police scoured the hills outside rural Johnstown, Pennsylvania, after reports of three animal rights activists going missing after attempting to protest the wearing of leather at a large motorcycle gang rally this weekend. Two others, previously reported missing, were discovered by fast food workers “duct taped inside several fast food restaurant dumpsters,” according to police officials.

“Something just went wrong,” said a still visibly shaken organizer of the protest. “Something just went horribly, horribly, wrong.”

The organizer said a group of concerned animal rights activist groups, “growing tired of throwing fake blood and shouting profanities at older women wearing leather or fur coats,” decided to protest the annual motorcycle club event “in a hope to show them our outrage at their wanton use of leather in their clothing and motor bike seats.” “In fact,” said the organizer, “motorcycle gangs are one of the biggest abusers of wearing leather, and we decided it was high time that we let them know that we disagree with them using it…ergo, they should stop.”

According to witnesses, protesters arrived at the event in a vintage 1960’s era Volkswagen van and began to pelt the gang members with balloons filled with red colored water, simulating blood, and shouting “you’re murderers” to passers by. This, evidently, is when the brouhaha began.

“They peed on me!!!” charged one activist. “They grabbed me, said I looked like I was French, started calling me ‘La Trene’, and duct taped me to a tree so they could pee on me all day!”

“I…I was trying to show my outrage at a man with a heavy leather jacket, and he…he didn’t even care. I called him a murderer, and all he said was, ‘You can’t prove that.’ Next thing I know he forced me to ride on the back of his motorcycle all day, and would not let me off, because his girl friend was out of town and I was almost a woman.”

Still others claimed they were forced to eat hamburgers and hot dogs under duress. Those who resisted were allegedly held down while several bikers “farted on their heads.”

Police officials declined comments on any leads or arrests due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, however, organizers for the motorcycle club rally expressed “surprise” at the allegations.

“That’s preposterous,” said one high-ranking member of the biker organizing committee. “We were having a party, and these people showed up and were very rude to us. They threw things at us, called us names, and tried to ruin the entire event. So, what did we do? We invited them to the party! What could be more friendly than that? You know, just because we are all members of motorcycle clubs does not mean we do not care about inclusiveness. Personally, I think it shows a lack of character for them to be saying such nasty things about us after we bent over backwards to make them feel welcome.”

When confronted with the allegations of force-feeding the activists meat, using them as ad hoc latrines, leaving them incapacitated in fast food restaurant dumpsters, and ‘farting on their heads,’ the organizer declined to comment in detail. “That’s just our secret handshake,” assured the organizer.

SENATOR KAY HAGAN'S WILD HEALTH CARE RIDE

Senator Kay Hagan and her fellow democrats insist that their bill will make health care more affordable to families and businesses, and will reduce the deficit. She states on her website in a press release dated December 24, 2009:

"Today, the Senate passed a health care reform bill that reduces costs, expands coverage, and provides stability for North Carolina families. It prevents insurance companies from taking away your coverage when you get sick or discriminating against people with pre-existing coverage conditions. The bill reduces the waste, fraud and abuse that currently exists in the delivery of care, and it will save our country money by decreasing the mounting federal deficit. As we move forward, I will continue working to ensure that North Carolina's families, seniors, and small businesses have a seat at the table."

Spoken like a true statist. What Senator Hagan and her fellow socialist will not acknowledge or concede is that federal and state government regulations are responsible for the rising cost of health care insurance. A study by the Cato Institute goes into great detail on governments role: http://www.cato.org/pubs/pas/pa527.pdf .

"The high cost of health services regulation is responsible for more than seven million Americans lacking health insurance, or one in six of the average daily uninsured. Moreover, 4,000 more Americans die every year from costs associated with health services regulation (22,000) than from lack of health insurance (18,000). The annual net cost of health services regulation dwarfs other costs imposed by government intervention in the health care sector. This cost exceeds annual consumer expenditures on gasoline and oil in the United States and is twice the size of the annual output of the motion picture and sound recording industries.

Senator Hagan in the same press release stated:

"In 1996, the average family premium was $6000. Today it's $12,000. Without health care reform premiums are expected to be $24,000 by 2016."

The Cato Institute addresses this assertion with a different conclusion:

"Based on consensus estimates about the impact of higher prices on how many would likely drop health insurance, this increased cost implies a 3.8 percent reduction in the demand for coverage. This translates into 6.8 million uninsured whose plight arguably might be attributed to excess regulatory costs, or roughly one in six of the average daily uninsured."

Senator Kay Hagan's assertion that her bill will cut down on fraud and abuse is laughable. The federal government can't answer for the billions that they lose now. The Cato Institute also addresses this issue with a twist:

"Even though the government collects $2.1 billion in enforcement penalties (treated here as a transfer), the gross cost of health care fraud and abuse regulation is estimated to be $3.2 billion, inclusive of government regulatory costs, industry compliance costs, and efficiency losses from tax collection and regulatory costs. All industry compliance costs (including enforcement penalties) are treated as roughly equivalent to an excise tax."

Senator Hagan and her ilk are all too willing to point at the splinter in the eye of health care providers, while refusing to address the tree truck in their own. If anyone believes that the federal government will provide cheaper coverage, then I've got a Fannie Mae mortgage backed security to sell you.

MUSLIMS: CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF A PARASITIC KIND

Nicolas Sennels--a psychologist from Copenhagen, Denmark--outlined in an interview the incompatibility of Muslims in western civilizations. I found this interview on a blog called Gates of Vienna: http://gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/2010/01/eternal-victim.html#readfurther.

Ten years ago Mr. Sennels heard an account of four, young Muslim men dragging a woman by the hair through the streets of Copenhagen in order to rape her. No one stopped to help this poor young girl. The crowd just ignored what was happening. This is not an isolated incident. I have read of similar accounts just like this one in other parts of Europe.

WesBlockquotetern Civilization has a serious problem. A native population in decline with a burgeoning immigration of third world miscreants who have no respect for the culture of its host country. These parasites have capitalized on the tolerance and political correctness that is pervasive throughout Europe; and is now spreading through Canada and the United States. These young men see this as weakness, and feel they can commit all sorts of crimes with impunity.

Muslims seem to have a pathological inclination to blame others for the shortcomings of themselves and their culture. Mr Sennels succinctly addresses this:

With this way of thinking you always see ourselves as the victim
and somebody or something outside yourself as the cause of your problems. Bernard Lewis, the famous professor in Islamic history, has observed the same cultural difference. In his words Westerners asks themselves, “What did I do wrong?” and Muslims asks, “Who did this to me?”Therefore many Muslims do not think that they create the problems. And talking about a person’s problems with somebody who thinks that everything is everybody else’s fault is not easy…

How many times have we seen Muslims blame the United States, Israel, and Great Britain for their shortcomings? And how many times have we seen self-loathing Americans blame the attacks of militant Muslims on our foreign policy?

If we are going to be honest with ourselves, we must awaken to the fact that there are inherent differences between peoples and culture that cannot be overcome unless one acculturates to the others ideals and beliefs.

Lets not forget an important precept of the "religion of peace": Islam means submission. And that means you and me.

SENATOR KAY HAGAN FUNDS ILLEGAL ALIENS

I believe we can all agree that the vaunted American Recovery and Investment Act is a complete bust; and has not provided the jobs that our sage, democratic politicians promised us plebeians. Now, they want to pass another such bill? It seems that the beltway echo-chamber is oblivious to their failures. Senator Kay Hagan of North Carolina is one of them.

Senator Hagan bragged about taxpayer monies she obtained for businesses, and industries that she favors: the so-called green jobs. You can read this missive on her website: http://hagan.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=382 .
Duke Energy and Raleigh’s Progress Energy each received $200 million in grants to update their current grid; and to invest in a “smart energy” grid. Celgard received $49 million in stimulus grants to produce components for batteries. And the North Carolina Employment Security Commission is to receive $946,000 in grants to collect information, and publicize its findings about green jobs; in effect to propagandize the “good works” of Senator Hagan.

The one company that is most interesting on her select list of recipients to bilk the taxpayers of their hard earned money is Telamon Corporation. Telamon is a non-profit organization whose mission statement is to provide human services to populations not easily or readily served by government institutions. Those services are the following:

1) Employment and training--classroom training, work experience, on the job training, supportive services and counseling to MIGRANT & SEASONAL FARMWORKERS, and other rural poor. Funded by the states of : IN, NC, WV, MD, MI, SC & GA
2) Child care--consist of head start day care services to MIGRANT CHILDREN and other rural poor. Funded by the United States Dept. of Human and Health Services and States: GA, NC, DE, TN, MI & The East Coast Migrant Head Start Program.
3) Housing--provide housing rehab, self-help housing, and counseling, housing training & technical assistance. Funded by HUD, FEMA, USDA, and DOE & STATES: IN, WV, NC, SC, VA, GA, MI, DE, TN & MD.
4) Community Services--provide education & training in nutrition, language, family planning, immunization, health, pesticide safety and supportive services. Funded by: USDOJ & STATES OF IN, MI, GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, WV, Sisters of Charity & others.

I would say that Telamon’s mission statement is misleading since most of its funding comes from government institutions; and the populations that are not easily or readily served are undocumented workers; in other words illegal aliens.

Telamon in 2007 received a grant from the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission in the amount of $150,000. The reasons for this grant are stated as the following: “Project will provide workforce development training to dislocated farm workers in Johnson and Sampson Counties to increase the target populations basic educational qualifications and employment skills, prepare them for post- secondary education, broker their access to employment in high growth occupations, improve language abilities, and open communications between them and targeted communities.”

The Tobacco Trust Fund Commission was established by the North Carolina General Assembly in response to the shakedown of four of the nation’s largest cigarette manufacturers by state governments. The manufacturers agreed to pay 46 states $206 billion dollars over the first 25 years. Of that North Carolina’s share is about $4.6 billion dollars after 25 years. Ostensibly, “the Commission” was created to assist tobacco farmers, related businesses, and individuals who were adversely affected by this settlement, through disbursement of funds administered by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The Commission met for the first time in February of 2001.

Senator Kay Hagan was first elected to the North Carolina State Assembly in 1998, and became co-chair of the budget committee, and served in the state senate for 10 years. It is safe to say that she is well aware of Telemon and in particular its state director Thom Meyers.

Thom Myers has worked with Telamon since 1970. He is also a board member and former president of The National Trade Association for Farm Workers Employment and Training Organization. Along with many of his affiliations, Mr. Myers was also appointed to the Employment Security Commission of North Carolina: The very same commission that received $946,000 in federal grants. Thom Myers term started in 2005 and ended on 6/30/09.

It seems a cozy relationship exist between Senator Kay Hagan and the ubiquitous Thom Myers. I only wish that they would keep their hands out of the taxpayer’s wallet
