Clay Aiken Announces Run for NC 2nd Congressional District

Clay Aiken, an American Idol contestant, announced his candidacy for the 2nd Congressional District of North Carolina.  A video was released on YouTube outlining his narrative.  And as usual, for most democrats, the narrative is the most compelling part of a candidate.  Barack Obama is a case and point on story over substance and policy.

If you’ve ever talked about FDR with a progressive, they usually make asinine statements like, “FDR saved capitalism from itself,” or “FDR was a traitor to his class.”  But if you look at his policies, they were hostile to businesses, and he was true to his class: paternalistic, overbearing, and replete with corruption and cronyism.  FDR was a menace.  He presided over one of the greatest financial disasters in the history of this country.  But don’t pay attention to that.  It doesn’t fit the narrative.  They don’t call it the Great Depression for nothing.  Oh, and they blamed it on Hoover for at least two terms.  Sound familiar?

In the aforementioned video, Mr. Aiken outlined budget cuts to the military that Rep. Renee Ellmers allegedly vote for.  In all probability, those cuts came in “sequestration.”  That law was the first time this country has restrained its spending in decades.  And it was up to the Obama administration to decide where those cuts were to be made.   And as for shutting down the federal government, that is another myth.  Only 17% of that monstrosity was closed down.

We can expect more of the Clay Aiken narrative.  Substance is of little consequence to liberal rags like the Charlotte Observer.   They’ve already cast their first American Idol vote.  The above cartoon is an indication of that.
