Gov. Perdue Fears Generational Damage to Out of Work Democratic Politicians

Governor Beverly Perdue vetoed the General Assembly's budget; the first time in the history of North Carolina.  And of course it’s all in the name of the children:

"This budget results in generational damage, to tear at the very fibers that's made this state strong," Perdue said. "Not only our schools and our universities and community colleges are damaged, but also our communities, our environment, our public safety system and our ability to care for those who need us the most."

The dirty little secret is that N.C. Democrats bequeath plum positions in the university system to their family, friends and defeated politicians.  Here are a few examples of well connected Tar Heels that have benefitted from patronage:

Erskine Bowles, who served the Clinton Administration and lost his bid for the U.S. Senate, received gainful employment as president of UNC.

Mary Easley, the wife of Governor Mike Easley, worked in the provost’s office of N.C. State

John Edwards, who served as U.S. Senator, and lost his bid as Vice President of the United States, became founding director of the UNC Center on Poverty.

When Governor Perdue says this budget would cost generational damage; she really meant it would cost generational damage to out of work Democratic politicians.

Thug-in-Chief Threatens Federal Contractors

We should have a new designation for the current office holder who is masquerading as President of the United States, and that is Thug-in-Chief.

The Supreme Court ruled in a land mark case Citizens United vs. Federal Elections Committee, that corporations and unions have a First Amendment right to donate money to political campaigns or action groups.  The Thug and his fascist minions in the White House are seeking a way to circumvent that ruling.  Obama is drafting an executive order that would require any company who contracts with the federal government to disclose any and all political associations:

Government contractors are already required to disclose contributions to political candidates. This executive order would require the disclosure of any donations to independent groups, where conservative groups outspent liberal ones in the 2010 election.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said the executive order would stifle free speech.

“Democracy is compromised when individuals and small businesses fear reprisal, or expect favor from the federal government as a result of their political associations,” McConnell said in a statement last week, after reports of the draft emerged.

“So recent press reports about an unprecedented draft Executive Order raise troubling concerns about an effort to silence or intimidate political adversaries’ speech through the government contracting system,” he said. “If true, the proposed effort would represent an outrageous and anti-democratic abuse of executive branch authority. No administration should use the federal contracting system for campaign purposes.”

Of course the Thug exempted his favorite pets, the unions and anyone else who receives grants from the federal government.  These leeches are Democratic supporters and have no fear of retribution.

Hans A. von Spakovsky, senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, was skeptical of Carney’s assertion that the president was merely committed to transparency.

“If transparency is the true goal, why isn’t the proposed executive order covering any outside entity that gets federal money? It only applies to government contractors, not grant recipients like Planned Parenthood,” he told CNSNews.com. “Public employee unions are also exempt from this order.”

Von Spakovsky, who was the first to report the existence of the draft executive order, on Pajamas Media last week, argued that the move would politicize the federal procurement process.

Obama is a shameless partisan.  The Chicago way is not the American Way.

Rep. Larry Kissell 2nd Biggest Porker in N.C.

Congressman Larry Kissell in his first term as representative of the 8th District of North Carolina managed to raid the U.S. treasury at a tune of about $42.5 million dollars. He ranked 2nd among N.C. house members in sponsoring earmarks for the fiscal year of 2009. That is quite impressive for a freshman legislator. He has proven himself a veteran at pick pocketing the American taxpayer. Here is an excerpt from the Charlotte Disturber:

Kannapolis' earmarks are sponsored in part by U.S. Rep. Larry Kissell, a Biscoe Democrat who just won re-election to his second term. Kissell was No. 2 among North Carolina's House members in sponsoring earmarks last year, with $42.5 million, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks money in politics.

Kissell's spokesman said he would continue to support earmarks as he's able.

Larry Kissell loves patronage. He sees himself as a modern day Godfather passing out favors to those who are willing to kiss his ring. I guess you can say this is organized crime; a crime against future generations of Americans who have to pay for the indulgences of politicians, and others who connive for federal largess.
