The Islamic Battle Flag Marches Onto D.C.



The Islamic black flag is marching onto Washington D.C. this March 3rd and Independence Day. The enemies are at the gate and they are demanding that we submit to their way of life. One of the coordinators of this event was interviewed by Fox News:

North Carolina Overpaid Millions in Unemployment Benefits



North Carolina has a $2.4 billion budget shortfall.  That doesn’t include what we owe Uncle Sam for federal loans used to help pay the states unemployed:

RALEIGH, N.C. - North Carolina not only has a $2.4 billion state budget gap to close this year. The state also owes the federal government $2.6 billion for borrowing over the past two years to pay its share of unemployment checks for those who lost jobs.


That means Republican legislative leaders who oppose new or temporary taxes to close the budget gap aren't taking that hardline approach to the unemployment debt. Higher taxes for employers appear likely, though they may not come immediately.


North Carolina is one of 30 states that are a combined $42 billion in the red on unemployment, partially the result of a slow recovery from recession that pushed jobless rates to 11 percent in the state.


The state collected in taxes barely half of the $1.9 billion in benefits that were disbursed in 2010, according to legislation.


What is really bad is the mismanagement of the state agency in charge of distributing unemployment checks:


"When you realize that there hasn't been a positive fund balance since (2008), you should be alerted that there are severe issues," Clary said.


The borrowing is no secret in government circles. The commission took heat in the fall after it overpaid unemployed workers by $28 million and sent letters to thousands asking for the money back. The overpayments didn't have to be repaid by recipients.


What's happened is not the fault of the current or recent agency leaders, argues Harry Payne, the commission's chairman for more than seven years until early 2009.


"It has been a political strategy in other states to somehow blame the bureaucrats," said Payne, a Democrat now with the North Carolina Justice Center.

Hey, dumbass! You overpaid $28 million to people who didn’t deserve it! And we shouldn't  blame government bureaucrats? Are you kidding me?

But Mr. Payne wasn’t through with the excuses:

He said the debt problem began in 1994, when the Legislature cut unemployment tax rates in half when the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund had at least $800 million. Tax cuts were approved four other times from 1995 to 1999. He said lawmakers were averse to raising taxes at the end of the last recession several years ago.


"We would still be owing money, no question about that, but it wouldn't be as much," Payne said.

Of course the $28 million wouldn’t have anything to do with the deficit either. I believe Mr. Payne should spend time with a different kind of North Carolina Justice Center: the state penitentiary.

Secretary Solis Defends Unions and Illegal Aliens

Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis just had to interject herself into the state of Wisconsin’s dispute with the labor unions. At the Democratic National Committee’s winter meeting, she said the following as reported by the Politico:


“The fight is on,” Labor Secretary Hilda Solis told the closing session of the DNC gathering at the Marriott Wardman Park hotel Saturday morning. “We work together. We help those embattled states right now where public employees are under assault.


Solis, a former congresswoman from California, got cheers and multiple standing ovations for her remarks blasting Walker and other Republican governors who seek to weaken government workers’ collective bargaining rights.



“We know many states are facing tough budget decisions,” she said. “We know there’s room for shared sacrifice — shared sacrifice. We’ve seen our brothers and sisters in public employee unions willingly give up their fair share. … The governors of Wisconsin and Ohio aren’t just demanding that they tighten their belts, they’re demanding that they give up their uniquely American rights as workers.”

Where in the hell have they sacrificed? They live better than the rest of us.

Solis loves socialist and illegal aliens. During a visit in Charlotte, North Carolina she attended a meeting that a local builder gave to construction workers. The meeting consisted of two groups: one that spoke English and the other Spanish. That’s right; she attended a meeting in which illegal aliens were given instruction on how to adhere to OSHA safety codes.

You’re wondering how I know this. An associate of mine was at that meeting, and he wasn’t one of the illegals.

Obama: Stimulus Helped States Balance Budgets





Barack Obama, the idiot in chief, declared at the Governor’s Conference that stimulus money helped the states balance their budgets, even though they won’t admit it:


"As the Recovery Act funds that saw through many states over the last two years are phasing out and it is undeniable that the Recovery Act helped every single state represented in this room manage your budgets, whether you admit it or not," President Obama told Governors on Monday morning

The Recovery Act allowed the states to kick the can down the road. Now that the music has stopped, everyone is looking for a chair to sit in and none can be found. What did we get for the trillion in federal aid? We still have double digit unemployment. Gas prices are rising. Inflation is rearing its ugly head. And China, who owns a large portion of our debt, is about to become our feudal lords.

Ronald Reagan once asked, “Are you better off today than you were four years ago?”





The only ones who can answer in the affirmative are government workers.

Future generations are going to ask whatever happened to the American dream. They are going to look back with an accusative eye and point their fingers at us. We will be given the moniker, “The Selfish Generation.” And no one can deny it.

State of Wisconsin Pimps for Union Bosses and Democrats

Wisconsin state senators who fled to Illinois in order to prevent a quorum have less than altruistic motives. They ostensibly say they are fighting for collective bargaining rights of public employees. To them, these union members are the last bastion of the middle class. However, the true motive is the contributions these senators receive from the dues the state of Wisconsin is obligated to collect for the union bosses.  National Review outlines this incestuous relationship:


If the unions are communicating, the senators are likely listening attentively: Those union donations constitute a significant chunk of their campaign funds, according to the data compiled by Wisconsin Democracy Campaign..


The outlier here is Sen. Tim Cullen (15th district), who has taken less than a dollar from PACs or political committees of any kind. But with him excluded, labor unions are responsible for a large percentage of these senators’ contributions from political-action committees (PACs) and political committees (which together constitute 25 percent of the donations to these senators tracked by the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign). Aside from Cullen, Sen. Jim Holperin (12th district) had the lowest proportion of union-funded contributions from PACs or political committees: 24 percent.


Sen. Spencer Coggs (6th district) topped the list with 73 percent. And of the 13 Democrats in the state senate who accepted labor-union funds, ten received a third or more of their PAC or political-committee donations from unions. Five have collected over half of such donations from unions.


And that’s only looking at money directly given to the candidates. Unions also spent heavily on independent initiatives, for example television ads. The Wisconsin Education Association Council’s PAC spent nearly $1.6 million supporting state-level Democratic candidates during the 2010 election cycle. Other unions also spent in support of Democratic candidates, although in smaller amounts: $45,000 ($65,000 total, with the remainder supporting a Republican candidate) from the Wisconsin Professional Police Association, $13,000 from the International Union of Operating Engineers, and a little over $9,000 from Madison Teachers Inc

And I say shame on you so-called Democratic representatives in Wisconsin. You shout “Shame on You” to those who are trying to save your state from insolvency? Well, I say shame on you and your incestuous relationship with public employee unions! It’s quite obvious who you are beholden to and it sure as hell isn’t the taxpayers. You’re just as bad as the state senate fleebaggers who absconded to Illinois, so as to prevent a quorum. Here are their mug shots:




Recall petitions are now taking place. If there was ever an example of public officials who need to be kicked out of office, this is it:

Reid Magney, spokesman for the Government Accountability Board, said local groups have officially registered recall committees with his agency to try to recall Sen. Bob Wirch of Kenosha and Jim Holperin of Eagle River.


In addition, a Utah group, American Recall Coalition, has registered electronically to set up recall committees against Wirch and five other Senate Democrats - Lena Taylor of Milwaukee, Mark Miller of Monona, Julie Lassa of Stevens Point, Fred Risser of Madison and Dave Hansen of Green Bay.


Magney said his office is still waiting to receive paper registrations from American Recall Coalition but that the out-of-state group may begin collecting signatures for the recall elections in those districts.


"We thought we were going to have a quiet time after the election," Magney said. "Apparently not."


The only Democratic senator who is not currently the subject of a recall bid is Spencer Coggs of Milwaukee.


The groups need about 16,000 signatures to force a recall election for a senator, Magney said. The exact number will vary from 11,000 to 21,000 signatures, he said, depending on how many votes were cast in the 2010 governor's race in the targeted district.

May I suggest these fleebaggers stay in Illinois and become citizens of that state. I hear they have a long history of ripping off their citizens too.

My Magic Hat

I lifted this from the Gates of Vienna blog.  Maybe I should buy one of these hats:



The other day I needed to go to the emergency room. Not wanting to sit there for 4 hours, I put on my Magic Green Hat. When I went into the E.R., I noticed that 3/4 of the people got up and left.




I guess they decided that they weren’t that sick after all. Cut at least 3 hours off my waiting time.



Here’s the hat:













It also works at DMV. It saved me 5 hours.



At the Laundromat, three minutes after entering, I had my choice of any machine, most still running.



If you live in Texas, it might cut your wait time at the grocery store.



But…don’t try it at McDonald’s. The whole crew took off and left out the back door and l never got my order!
 

North Carolina A.G. Roy Cooper Turns His Back on Founding Fathers


State Attorney General Roy Cooper refuses to protect North Carolinians from the usurpations and transgressions of an ever grasping federal government. In a letter to Governor Beverly Perdue, he stated that whatever legislation the federal government passes, even if it is unconstitutional, is the supreme law of the land:


"This office should not attempt to enforce state legislation that clearly violates federal law," Cooper said in an interview with The Associated Press. "Another issue is unintended consequences. While it is unenforceable as to federal law, it could be enforceable as to existing state law."


"State legislatures cannot pick and choose which federal laws the state will obey," Cooper wrote to Perdue, pointing to federal rules requiring body scans of pat downs at airports about which many North Carolina residents complain. "The same principle applies here as with other federal laws, even those laws we don't like or agree with."

You cannot compare pat downs at airports with Obamacare. I don’t have to fly; therefore I can avoid being molested by TSA agents. But under Obamacare, I’m forced to buy a product or be fined and thrown in jail. There is a big difference.

Brion McClanahan PHD from the University of South Carolina defines the Supremacy Clause and its limitations:

The so-called “supremacy clause” of the Constitution, found in Article 6, states, “This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding [emphasis added].”


The key, of course, is the italicized phrase. All laws made in pursuance of the Constitution, or those clearly enumerated in the document, were supreme, State laws notwithstanding. In other words, the federal government was supreme in all items clearly listed in the document.

Hugh Williamson, a North Carolina delegate to the Constitutional convention and signer, emphasized this very point:

To most of the assembled delegates, the national government was not the center of the political universe and the States retained their sovereignty. Hugh Williamson of North Carolina emphatically stated he “was against giving a power that might restrain the states from regulating their internal police.”

Dr. McClanahan further demonstrates the concerns and wisdom of our founding fathers:

By the time the Constitution was debated in the several State ratifying conventions in 1787 and 1788, the “supremacy clause” galvanized opponents of the document. The Constitution, they said, would destroy the States and render them impotent in their internal affairs. The response from proponents of ratification illuminates the true intent of the clause. William Davie, a delegate to the Constitutional Convention from North Carolina and proponent of the Constitution, responded to attacks levied on the “supremacy clause” by stating that:


This Constitution, as to the powers therein granted, is constantly to be the supreme law of the land. Every power ceded by it must be executed without being counteracted by the laws or constitutions of the individual states. Gentlemen should distinguish that it is not the supreme law in the exercise of power not granted. It can be supreme only in cases consistent with the powers specially granted, and not in usurpations [emphasis added].


Davie wasn’t alone in this opinion. Future Supreme Court justice James Iredell of North Carolina argued that, “This clause [the supremacy clause] is supposed to give too much power, when, in fact, it only provides for the execution of those powers which are already given in the foregoing articles….If Congress, under pretence of executing one power, should, in fact, usurp another, they will violate the Constitution [emphasis added].”

Attorney General Roy Cooper is obviously oblivious to the concerns of North Carolina’s founding fathers. They were fearful of an all powerful federal government that would impose itself upon the states, and deny them the ability of self-governance.

Mr. Cooper’s inaction is an affront to the principles of our founding. He has proven himself a devotee and stooge of the Democratic Party.

DOE Grifters Flee Obama's Green Ship






As the new Republican majority take over House committees, the Marxist rats flee Obama’s green energy ship:


A trio of top officials, including acting Undersecretary of Energy Cathy Zoi, are stepping down from the Department of Energy, Secretary Steven Chu announced in an agency memo set to be released today.


Zoi, who also serves as assistant secretary for energy efficiency and renewable energy (EERE), will be leaving the agency on March 10 to head to a private-sector post in California. In addition, Chu's chief of staff, Rod O'Connor, will leave the agency on March 18 for a job at a sports and entertainment company based in London. General counsel Scott Harris has also announced that he will soon be leaving DOE.


The loss of Zoi comes at a time when DOE is being asked by President Obama to make major new investments in clean energy technology.


Since being confirmed by the Senate in 2009, Zoi has managed the agency's applied science, research, development and deployment portfolio and also oversaw $30 billion in funding DOE received under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

These grifters do not want to sit before a committee and explain how they wasted billions of taxpayer dollars on one of the biggest scams in American history. You can expect more of these rodents to bail on the anointed one. No one can defend the indefensible.

NEA: Screw the Children! Where is My Union Rights!




National Education Association’s retiring top lawyer, Bob Chanin, speaking at the NEA’s annual meeting in July, 2009:

“Despite what some among us would like to believe it is not because of our creative ideas. It is not because of the merit of our positions. I assume he would give the same advice to the citizens of Wisconsin that he did to Juanita Broaddrick: You might want to put some ice on that. What a humanitarian!

Union Protester Calls North Carolinians Undemocratic Racist




In solidarity with Wisconsin’s public employee unions, a group of malcontents descended upon Raleigh. Union activist grabbed the bullhorn and complained about North Carolina law that bans collective bargaining rights of state employees.


The featured speaker in the above video blamed the denial of his “rights” on the undemocratic, Jim Crow fanatics who want to keep him down. According to this 50’s throwback, we who oppose public employee unions are racist who want to destabilize the African American community by denying them a job; a job they can only get through a union.

North Carolina Public Service Union also filed a complaint with some international organization, who then ruled we were violating international law, by denying this blowhard his collective bargaining rights.

Well, what do you know? And all along I thought we were American citizens. Since when did we become serfs to a suzerain? Did we lose our sovereignty? That would explain Barack Obama’s bowing and scraping to foreign dictators.

Union Protesters Can't Handle the Truth





Wisconsin protesters shouted down a Fox News interview. They chanted “Tell the Truth”. Well you self-entitled pricks can’t handle the truth.


Here’s the truth: your state can’t pay its bills. You are overpaid and you contribute almost nothing to your pensions and health insurance plans. You expect the taxpayers (who are your bosses) to continue to pay public servants more than they make.

Here are the salaries and compensation packages of these whiners:

The Daily Caller started reporting the salaries and benefits of teachers who went public with their complaints on Monday, and this story will contain more of them.


Politico reported that Michael Mulvey, a high school algebra teacher in Wauwatosa, Walker’s hometown, held a sign that read: “Scott, I taught your son algebra. My son just turned 5. Does he deserve a good education?”


Mulvey makes $46,687 in base salary and $25,481 in “fringe benefits,” which include health insurance, life insurance and retirement pay.


Politico also reported that a high school math teacher from Green Bay, Karen Hill, traveled to Madison on a bus full of fellow teachers to protests, and held a sign that read, “negotiate not dictate.”


Hill makes $59,695 in base salary with an additional $28,398 in benefits.


Martha Vasquez, an art teacher in Madison, told Politico that she was irked more at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin chiming into the debate than she was at Walker.


“I was really surprised when Sarah Palin weighted in,” Vasquez said. “This bill is ripping apart the of what it means to be a Wisconsinite. We value education.”


Vasquez makes $50,018 in base salary and $11,188 in benefits.


Kevin Yeske, the assistant principal of Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids, allowed students 20 minutes of one of their school days to protest Walker’s budget, and provided two school staffers to supervise the protest.


“I was really impressed with our students,” Yeske told the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune. “They wanted to make a statement, but we want to make sure we don’t do any damage or consequences (to the school day); it was very well done.”


Yeske makes $94,262 in base salary with an additional $35,076 in benefits.


Henri Kinson, a former school board member in Whitewater, Wisc., told TheDC teachers receive five years of full health insurance after they retire, as long they worked for at least 10 years in the state. Kinson said that costs about $100,000 per teacher, funding he said comes from local school boards’ classroom and educational materials budgets – and could be used for more textbooks, technology for students and other learning materials.


Kinson also said that the approximately $100,000 per teacher post-retirement health insurance plans don’t show up in the database of school employees’ salaries and benefits because when the teachers get them, they’re not employees anymore.


11:52 a.m. – Bert Zipperer, a Madison middle school guidance counselor, said Walker is “power drunk” and that he and fellow teachers are going to “sober him up.”


Zipperer makes $62, 062 in base salary with an additional $26,847 in benefits.


12:06 p.m. – Teacher Leah Gustafson held a sign in Madison that read: “Scott, your son is in my class. I teach him, I protect him, I inspire him.”


Gustafson makes $40,921 in base salary with $16,325 in benefits.


1:27 p.m. – Julie Fitzpatrick, a first-grade teacher at Elvehjem Elementary School in Madison, told the Wisconsin State Journal with teary eyes that this bill is about “so much more than teachers,” and she was glad to have her students’ parents’ support while she protested at the capitol all last week. She is back teaching as of Tuesday morning.


Fitzpatrick makes $64,569 in base salary and $27,637 in benefits.


The average Wisconsin worker in 2009 made $37,398, per the Department of Commerce. Also, teachers are out of the classroom for 13 or 14 weeks of the year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.


And here is another truth: You have a right to life, liberty and property. You do not have a right to collective bargaining.

George Soros Deceiving Americans Again




George Soros believes we tea partiers are easily deceived by Fox News and talk radio. Soros states that reducing taxes and getting rid of burdensome federal regulations doesn’t benefit average Americans. No, life would be unbearable without a government bureaucrat breathing down our necks and raiding our pocketbooks.

If you want to see a deceiver in action, watch the above video. Notice how he danced around his youthful exploits as a Nazi collaborator. And completely ignores his participation in overthrowing foreign governments just for the fun of it.

Here is a man who once stated he was God. Is it any wonder he thinks we little people are stupid and insignificant?

Union Thugs Descend Upon Raleigh, North Carolina






Union thugs descended on North Carolina’s state capitol today. They’re demanding collective bargaining rights for public employees. These piglets couldn’t have picked a worse time to demand a free meal at the taxpayer’s trough.


Wisconsin state legislators are doing battle over their budget, and a huge contributing factor is the pensions and health care plans of the unions. We all have to contribute to our retirement and insurance plans; that is except if you are a member of a public employee union. The intransigence of these spoiled brats is on display for the whole country to see. We have teachers shutting down schools and accepting fraudulent doctor’s notes so as to participate in an unlawful strike.

Democratic legislators, who are beholden to these unions, have fled the state bringing a halt to urgent budgetary problems. And we have a bunch of idiots who want to bring that kind of chaos and mayhem to Raleigh? I don’t think so!!

North Carolina has a $2 billion budget shortfall, and that is without a greedy bunch of socialist shutting down our schools. Can you imagine what that would be like if we had a bunch of selfish -- I’m getting mine and screw you—bunch of commies holding us hostage? God forbid.

Wisconsin Doctors Issue Fraudulent Sick Notes to Teachers



The above video shows a protester whose vocabulary encompasses a couple of words. I hope he doesn't teach English. And below is a doctor handing out sick notes to the pillars of the community, so they won't get disciplined for an unauthorized leave of absence.

I wonder what their union contract says about committing fraud.


Rep. Allen West's Stinging Epistle on Democratic Governance




Rep. Allen West sent a letter to his constituents in Florida's 22nd congressional district.  He pulls no punches in his criticism of democrats and the way they've governed these past few years.  Though West is a freshman, he is very outspoken.  Something that is very much needed and appreciated:

“Over this past week I have watched and listened to members of the House of Representatives from across the aisle.



“I am appalled at their ignorance, belligerence, and dishonest rhetoric filled with empty emotional platitudes. Wisconsin State Senator Issues Ransom Note



In what is becoming reminiscent of a hostage taking, a Wisconsin Democratic state senator has issued the equivalent of a ransom note to newly elected Governor Scott Walker. Mark Miller and his confederate refugees are scattered and holed up in motels across state lines. The Daily Caller reports their list of demands:


“We demand that the provisions that completely eliminate the ability of workers… to negotiate on a fair basis with their employers be removed from the budget repair bill and any other future budget,” Miller said.


He also demanded legislative oversight on changes to the state’s medical programs, which are targeted for changes in the bill. The bill would also require union members to contribute to their health care and pensions

God forbid that they have to contribute to their health care and pension plans like regular Americans. No, this privileged class is entitled to the sweat and toil of the serfs who work every day just to keep their public employee masters in luxurious comfort; free of the vicissitudes of a competitive market.

Asked by a CNN reporter why he and the Democrats weren’t doing their jobs, he countered by saying Walker had moved the bill too fast.

“We will return to do our job, but the governor has to do his job,” Miller said. “He has to engage in responsible negotiations with the interested parties and he failed to do so…We need to be able to enter into a responsible dialogue and not one that is such a sham.”


Asked about the deficit the state is facing, Miller said Walker is ignoring the economy’s recovery, which makes reigning in union benefits unnecessary.


“The economy’s recovering and the governor is completely ignoring the fact that we have a… recovery going,” Miller said. “The only thing that hasn’t recovered has been the rate of unemployment.”


Miller maintained that, by leaving Madison to evade a vote on the budget-repair bill, the lawmakers are “trying to allow an opportunity for democracy to work.”

Wisconsin’s democrats have shown who the true masters are in the state; and it sure as hell isn’t the regular hard working people who have to provide for their own retirement and health care.

Wisconsin Protesters More Greek Than Egyptian




Union protesters crowded Wisconsin’s state capitol for a second straight day. Teachers called in sick, shutting down schools. The press and their vociferous, socialist compatriots would have us believe that the plight of Badger state public employees is the equivalent of the Egyptians. I say they’re more like the Greeks.


The example of Ronald Reagan comes to mind right about now. When the air traffic controllers went on strike, he fired them. If the teachers continue to neglect their duty, they should receive the same fate. There are a lot of prospects who would love to have a job, especially in this economy.

When the going gets tough, the Democrats spirit across state lines. This is reminiscent of Texas Democrats who played the same game a couple of years ago. They, like their Wisconsin counterparts, denied the senate a quorum; effectively cutting off debate and state business. Justice delayed will not be justice denied. Sooner or later they have to come home.

Wisconsin has a long progressive history and the election of a conservative governor is an affront to their socialist principles. WTMJ and the Associated Press reports the following:

Wisconsin has long been a bastion for workers' rights. It was the first state to grant collective bargaining rights to public employees more than a half-century ago. And the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees was founded in 1936 in Madison.


But when voters elected Walker, an outspoken conservative, along with GOP majorities in both legislative chambers, it set the stage for a dramatic reversal of the state's labor history.


Under Walker's plan, state employees' share of pension and health care costs would go up by an average of 8 percent.


Unions still could represent workers, but could not seek pay increases above those pegged to the Consumer Price Index unless approved by a public referendum. Unions also could not force employees to pay dues and would have to hold annual votes to stay organized.


In exchange for bearing more costs and losing bargaining leverage, public employees were promised no furloughs or layoffs. Walker has threatened to order layoffs of up to 6,000 state workers if the measure does not pass

We can expect this type of Grecian protest throughout the country. Obama and his union goon’s chickens have come home to roost.

I take my hat off to Senator Inhofe. His measured and calm response was something to marvel at. A lesser man would have smacked those smug pricks.


Multiculturalism May Lead to Civil War





Multiculturalism has been declared a failure. The leaders of France, Germany, and Great Britain have all admitted the failed policy of welcoming immigrants whose faith, traditions, and cultural is diametrically opposed, if not hostile to the host countries ideals and beliefs.

Wisconsin Teachers Union Exploit Students



Teachers in Madison, Wisconsin marched on the state's capitol in protest of the new governor's austerity program. A program that is designed to reign in public employee unions.

The problem is they used their students as props. Many of these kids had no idea what they were protesting, and I suspect their parents had no idea they went on this "field trip".

The country passed labor laws ostensibly to protect children from the exploitation of corporations. Do we need a law to protect them from their teachers too?

North Carolina Public Employees Want Others to Sacrifice



Republicans in North Carolina’s General Assembly is sharpening the axe and eyeing one of the Democratic Party’s loyal constituents: Public employee unions. The state has a $3 billion budget shortfall, and a long term problem is about to be cleaved:


"Let's all come to the table but don't make public employees bear the entire burden on the state budget," SEANC Executive Director Dana Cope said during a news conference with state employees at his side holding placards promoting the "Take Pride in Carolina" report. "Let's share sacrifice and make sure companies pay their fair share."


The group, a local of the Service Employees International Union, says cutting the work force is a short-term solution that results in reducing critical services for North Carolina's citizens.


The bulk of the savings outlined in the report relate to hospitals and health care. The report says $4.5 billion could be saved by requiring nonprofit hospitals and health care systems to give up a portion of their capital reserves to alleviate the projected gap. That's because the union says the hospitals accumulate large reserves through an indirect tax subsidy.


Yet North Carolina Hospital Association spokesman Don Dalton calls the argument a mistake, saying hospitals lost $1.2 billion treating Medicaid patients and the uninsured last year.

They want us to share the sacrifice? We have been sacrificing for the past three year! The only ones who haven’t felt the pain are public employees. They want the hospitals to give up a portion of their capital reserves, so as to spare some of their members? I don’t think so!

Here are some of the other recommendations the union has made:

Creating a four-day, 10-hour work week, at a savings of $600 million.


Abolishing the Golden LEAF Foundation, which receives half of North Carolina's share of the national tobacco settlement, at a savings of $570 million.


Increasing the cigarette tax by $1 per pack, generating $454 million.


Requiring multistate corporations to file tax returns that give a more complete picture of their North Carolina activities so they are taxed according to their business in the state, generating $375 million.


Eliminating corporate tax "loopholes" for certain industries, such as motorsports or the film industry, at a savings of more than $31 million.


Require Department of Transportation mowing contractors to pay for road signs they damage, saving $10 million

So they want multistate corporations to file a tax return in North Carolina. Yeah, let’s badger the hell out of businesses who are already burdened with federal and state taxes and regulations. And while we’re at it, let’s price a legal product so high that no one can afford to buy it. That should go over well with North Carolina farmers and tobacco industry. Oh, and lets continue onerous taxes that are about to expire, so not one public employee will receive a pink slip.

The unions don’t want shared responsibility. They want the same indemnification as D.O.T. mowing contractors. A claim I find suspect.

Union Thugs Not Happy With DNC Pick of Charlotte, NC



The 2012 Democratic Convention is coming to the Queen City and the union thugs are not happy with the selection. North Carolina is a right to work state, and for Charlotte to be picked is an affront to the socialist movement. However, the bid proposal promised to hire as many Marxist as possible:


Charlotte's bid proposal says the city will "endeavor to use union labor to the greatest extent feasible" but provides no detail on how that will happen.


Because the city has so few unionized workers - perhaps 3 percent - it's unclear how much of the pie labor unions can expect to grab. Roughly 3.5 percent of North Carolina workers are unionized.

The Democratic Party has the ultimate say as to who will work at the convention and since they are beholden to the unions, some are worried that outside labor will be brought into the state:

Angaza Laughinghouse, president of the N.C. Public Service Workers Union, said he doesn't support bringing in outside workers. He said, he plans to use the convention to "share with the world how workers here are being denied the fundamental human right to collectively bargain and have a voice." In North Carolina, it's illegal for public employees to bargain for wages or benefits collectively.

That’s because many who have moved from states dominated by unions; don’t want to see North Carolina turned into a hell hole like the one they escaped from. Can anyone say Michigan or California?

Colbert of The Employers Association said he is advising nonunionized companies to start preparing now. He said employers would be wise to analyze their pay rates, benefits packages and training programs to ensure they match industry standards.


"This would be a prime time for unions to make their promises. It's natural that while they're here they would try to drum up some business,"

As though Charlotte and Mecklenburg County wasn’t dysfunctional enough already.

Princess Pelosi Proclaims Republicans Hate Women, Children and Little Puppies Too!




Princess Pelosi donned her crown and took to the House floor to admonish Speaker Boehner and those dastardly Republicans for their draconian budget cuts. Her Majesty pointed a crooked finger and stated that Republicans want to ‘deprive women of primary care when it comes to health and education. Republicans put women and children last.’


I find that laughable. Her party is the one who puts women and children last. Does anyone remember the ACORN scandals and the latest from those baby lovers at Planned Parenthood? These two organizations are huge Democratic supporters and provide pro bono legal advice to teenage sex slavers. I wouldn’t doubt that they participate in black market bestiality and snuff films too.



Pelosi then went on a rant about Republicans not presenting a responsible plan for addressing the deficit. Are you kidding me? She didn’t even provide a budget last year, and she is going to lecturer Boehner! I believe the princess is actually a prince. Somebody should check her jockstrap.

Pelosi, the patron saint of government employees, went berserk after hearing Boehner state that her sacred cow was about to get slaughtered:

"Over the last two years since President Obama has taken office, the federal government has added 200,000 new federal jobs and if some of those jobs are lost in this, so be it," Boehner said during a news conference with reporters at the Republican National Committee. "We're broke! It's time for us to get serious about how we're spending the nation's money."


"Democrats do not subscribe to Speaker Boehner's verdict that if jobs are lost in this continuing resolution, so be it," Pelosi said. "Maybe so be it for him. But not so be it for the people who are losing their jobs."

My suggestion to Pelosi’s army of government bureaucrats is to get another job. The taxpayer’s teat is dried up. You parasites have killed the host.

FCC Chairman Wants to Strangle Fox News and Free Speech

Federal Communications Commissioner Michael Copps made a case for a government hand in media policy in a speech to the FCBA on Tuesday.


"The commission can act now. It should have acted on the media before now. I am disappointed that it has not," he said.


The decline of "real journalism" justifies federal involvement, according to Copps. "The news is suffering from a bad case of substance abuse," he said.


The Democratic commissioner pointed to Fox News' Bernie Goldberg and Bill O'Reilly as examples of the problem with today's media landscape, saying the pair has taken his own words out of context.


"What you and I are getting these days is too much opinion based on opinion and too little news based on fact," Copps said.


The key going forward, according to Copps, is "making sure there is media about, and originating from, the local communities a station serves."


Congress has given the FCC power to get involved in the Communications Acts, according to Copps. It may want to give the agency more power to promote media diversity and competition, he said.


The commissioner also reiterated his call for a "Public Value Test" as part of the broadcasting license renewal, a process controlled by the FCC.

Hugo Chavez, the Iranian Mullahs, Putin and all the other tyrants in the world are smiling right about now.

States Confront Public Employee Unions




States have record budget deficits and one of the contributing factors is the bloated pensions, health care, and salaries of public employees. Ohio, Wisconsin, and Kentucky have introduced legislation to limit the bargaining power of unions and to realign their wages and benefits with that of the private sector.

Ohio’s Senate Republicans are proposing the following:

Proposals in the bill:


State workers


• Eliminates collective bargaining for state workers, including higher education employees.


• Requires the Department of Administrative Services to develop a merit-based system of pay.


Local workers


• Removes the requirement that deadlocked safety forces go to binding arbitration, instead extending the prior union contract for one year.


• Requires mediators to consider wages of employees who are not members of the union and does not allow them to consider future tax increases as part of an entity's ability to pay.


• Allows employers to hire permanent replacement workers during a strike.


• Removes health insurance from collective bargaining. Management will pick insurance policies, and employees must cover at least 20 percent of the cost.


• No longer requires that once a subject is included in a contract that it becomes a mandatory subject of future bargaining.


• Defines an "impasse" as a lack of agreement after 90 days. After that point, it requires each side to make public its last, best offer.


• Prohibits public employers from picking up extra employee pension contributions.


• Eliminates from state law automatic pay increases for experience and education.


• Eliminates from state law leave policies and automatic 15 sick days for teachers.


• Prohibits school districts from bargaining away certain management powers, such as the ability to deploy teachers to certain buildings.


• No longer makes longevity a deciding factor when management is deciding to make layoffs.


• Requires a public employer to publish on its website any changes in the union contract that impacts compensation of workers, including wages, length of service payments, and insurance coverage.


• Requires the employer and the State Employment Relations Board to publish the parties' offers on their websites before and after fact-finding is complete.


• Allows schools or local governments in fiscal emergency to terminate or modify a collective bargaining agreement

SEIU and other union thugs crowded the statehouse of Ohio demanding a no vote. Wisconsin’s Governor is forecasting something else more ominous. He has ordered the National Guard to be on standby.

Collective bargaining is becoming collective thuggery.

Arizona Governor Sues Federal Government Over Illegal Invasion



Governor Jan Brewer filed a lawsuit against the federal government for not enforcing immigration laws and protecting our borders. I believe that all states should join this suit just like the 26 did with Obamacare. NumbersUSA reports:


Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has announced that the state will launch a counter-lawsuit against the federal government for its failure to enforce immigration laws. Gov. Brewer said the federal government has failed to secure the Arizona border with Mexico and has passed the costs of illegal immigration onto the state.


"Because the federal government has failed to protect the citizens of Arizona, I am left with no other choice," Gov. Brewer said.


"It's outrageous the United States Department of Justice sued the people of Arizona to stop Senate Bill 1070. ... Our message for the federal government is very simple -- use federal resources to combat the cartels who are breaking the federal law."


The federal government sued the state of Arizona after it passed SB1070, which allows local police officers to inquire about the immigration status of an individual stopped, detained, or arrested if there is reasonable suspicion that the individual is in the country illegally. Portions of the law were struck down by a federal district court, and the decision is currently being appealed by the state to the Ninth Circuit Court.

This woman has shown real leadership. Arizona should be proud to have Jan Brewer as their governor.

Rep. Patrick McHenry: Era of Bailouts is Over




Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) is chairman of the House Oversight Committee’s subcommittee on TARP and bailouts. The first order of business is to investigate the effectiveness of this program and whether to help out states with their budget shortfalls. Liberal states are the most egregious as reported by the News and Observer:


California, New York and Illinois are among states struggling most with debt. So far, 44 states and the District of Columbia have a projected shortfall of $125 billion, according to the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities

That shouldn’t surprise anyone. McHenry stated that these irresponsible beggars will not receive a taxpayer bailout:

McHenry criticized states for not preparing better for the end of the 2009 stimulus funding that the federal government poured into state budgets in the past two years. He and the panel's top Democrat, U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley of Illinois agreed that the states shouldn't come to Washington for a bailout.


"The era of the bailout is over," McHenry said.

I remember when Bill Clinton said that the era of big government was over. I hope McHenry’s words don’t ring as hollow.

McHenry, who earned a reputation in the past few years as one of the House's partisan bulldogs in the press, was gracious and accommodating in Wednesday's hearing. He offered the first GOP questioning opportunity - a perk traditionally reserved for the chairman - to a fellow Republican. And he offered the first Democratic opportunity to U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, who is the ranking member of the full Oversight Committee.


Quigley thanked McHenry publicly for being "accommodating and cordial to me and my staff," and the two conferred often during testimony.

I hope McHenry doesn’t bring a knife to a gunfight.

North Carolina State Rep. Tightens Screws on Illegal Aliens



North Carolina has an unemployment rate of 9.7% and a major contributing factor is illegal aliens. Anyone who has been on a construction site could testify to this. We have all heard the argument that illegals will do the work that Americans won’t. They would have us believe that no American wants to be a carpenter, plumber, electrician, mason or any trade associated with construction. It is a patently false and ridiculous argument.


State Rep. George Cleveland (R-Onslow) doesn’t buy that foolishness either:

Rep. George Cleveland, R-Onslow, is one of those legislators. He’s introduced a handful of bills aimed tightening the legal screws on people who are in the country and in the state illegally.


His legislation includes:


-- A bill prohibiting the state’s public universities and community colleges from admitting illegal immigrants to their programs or allowing them to take classes.


-- A bill limiting acceptable identification to those approved by government officials, thereby making Matricula Consular cards issued by Mexican consulates void by N.C. government officials.


-- A bill requiring companies that have contracts with state and local governments in North Carolina to use the federal government’s E-verify system when hiring employees, an attempt to make sure all their workers are in the country and state legally

It is saddening that one of our state's representatives would go out of their way to deny a segment of our state's population the right to educate and better themselves. I believe your decision to sponsor this bill is short-sighted at best and vindictive at its worst. Do you not realize that this limited amount of students are already paying out of state tuition and are forced to register after the official matriculation period has ended? Again, I am deeply disappointed with your introduction of this bill and I hope that in the future you will look towards a brighter and more compassionate future for North Carolina, a future where education is valued for all, a future in which an educated citizenry can see right through sickening, xenophobic trends amongst narrow minded politicians.

CBO Director: Obamacare to Reduce Employment by 800,000

Testifying today before the House Budget Committee, Congressional Budget Office (CBO) Director Doug Elmendorf confirmed that Obamacare is expected to reduce the number of jobs in the labor market by an estimated 800,000. Here are excerpts from the exchange:



Chairman [Paul] Ryan: “[I]t’s been argued...that the new health care law will create jobs and increase labor force participation. But if I recall from your analysis, it was quite the opposite. Is that not the case?”


Director [Douglas] Elmendorf : “Yes.”...

That means that, in your estimation, the health care law would reduce employment by 800,000 in '20-'21. Is that correct?




Director Elmendorf: Yes. The way I would put it is that we do estimate, as you said, that...employment will be about 160 million by the end of the decade. Half a percent of that is 800,000.

Obama's Stash has Dried Up




Barack Obama, the world’s messiah, wants to cut heating aid to the poor. Remember the woman who said she didn’t have to worry about paying for her gas , or mortgage because the anointed one was going to take care of her? I would like to ask her how that hope and change is working out. It looks like the free ride is over:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama wants to cut $2.5 billion from a $5 billion home heating aid program for the poor, two people familiar with his 2012 budget proposal said Wednesday, halving the popular fund as he looks for places to rein in federal spending.

The proposal would cut the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program to its 2008 level of about $2.5 billion
.
Senator John Kerry, a man who has made a living leeching off of others (taxpayers, and rich widows), is apoplectic about the cuts to this fund:

Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., urged Obama not to cut the funding. He said more than 3 million families would lose assistance.

"I've always supported serious efforts to restore fiscal sanity, but in the middle of a brutal, even historic, New England winter, home heating assistance is more critical than ever to the health and welfare of millions of Americans, especially senior citizens," Kerry said.

Senator Kerry, why don’t you and your rich, liberal buddies organize a fund to help these poor people pay their bills? I guess that would be too much to ask a multi-billionaire. Maybe you can contact your comrade in Venezuela to help. He was always more than willing to throw his expropriated petro dollars to Northeasterners. Or contact Al Gore and he will tell them this historical winter is just a figment of their imagination. The world is really warming up.

You have to love the socialist and their fairy dust dreams; dreams that are as real as Obama’s stash.

South Carolina State Senator Advocates Modern Day Slavery


South Carolina is currently trying to implement an Arizona style immigration law, and that is not sitting well with State Senator Robert Ford:


"We need these workers here. A lot of people aren't going to do certain type of work in this country," said Ford, D-Charleston. "The brothers are going to find ways to take a break. Ever since this country was built, we've had somebody do the work for us."

Mr. Ford is worried who is going to mow his lawn for $10.00. After all Americans are too lazy and expensive; why not exploit these people:

He recalled to senators that four workers in the country illegally showed up on his lawn and finished mowing, edging and other work in 30 minutes that would take others much longer, and only wanted $10 for the job. He went on to say he recommended the workers to his neighbors, and one local lawn care businessman lost work - a story one senator remarked was hurting, not helping, his case.

Senator Robert Ford is all for modern day slavery. After all we have history of it:

"Black guys and white guys are going to get out there and do the hard work? No. I'm for America, and America's a country of immigrants," Ford said later when reached on his cell phone. "Everybody in America finds ways to take a break."


To his critics, he said, "They're taking life too serious. My advice is for them to get a life and to learn American history."

I believe he is referring to the history of the antebellum South.

Raleigh Imposes Segregation in City Parks




Raleigh’s City Council just imposed a law to segregate smokers in parks. The social misfits are allowed to smoke in the parking lot, and nowhere else. If caught they will receive a $50.00 fine. The ordinance begins July 1, just in time to celebrate Independence Day.


Is that freedom I smell, or someone’s cigarette?

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.



We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security. --Such has been the patient sufferance of these colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world.

He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has forbidden his governors to pass laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of representation in the legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved representative houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the legislative powers, incapable of annihilation, have returned to the people at large for their exercise; the state remaining in the meantime exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

He has endeavored to prevent the population of these states; for that purpose obstructing the laws for naturalization of foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migration hither, and raising the conditions of new appropriations of lands.

He has obstructed the administration of justice, by refusing his assent to laws for establishing judiciary powers.

He has made judges dependent on his will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, standing armies without the consent of our legislature.

He has affected to render the military independent of and superior to civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his assent to their acts of pretended legislation:

For quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:

For protecting them, by mock trial, from punishment for any murders which they should commit on the inhabitants of these states:

For cutting off our trade with all parts of the world:

For imposing taxes on us without our consent:

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of trial by jury:

For transporting us beyond seas to be tried for pretended offenses:

For abolishing the free system of English laws in a neighboring province, establishing therein an arbitrary government, and enlarging its boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule in these colonies:

For taking away our charters, abolishing our most valuable laws, and altering fundamentally the forms of our governments:

For suspending our own legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

He has abdicated government here, by declaring us out of his protection and waging war against us.

He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burned our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

He is at this time transporting large armies of foreign mercenaries to complete the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of cruelty and perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the head of a civilized nation.

He has constrained our fellow citizens taken captive on the high seas to bear arms against their country, to become the executioners of their friends and brethren, or to fall themselves by their hands.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavored to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian savages, whose known rule of warfare, is undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Nor have we been wanting in attention to our British brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, enemies in war, in peace friends.

We, therefore, the representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the name, and by the authority of the good people of these colonies, solemnly publish and declare, that these united colonies are, and of right ought to be free and independent states; that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the state of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as free and independent states, they have full power to levy war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things which independent states may of right do. And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.
