The Boston Bombers' Greater Jihad

Judge Jeanine Pirro hit it out of the park the other day.  Her assessment on the Boston bombings is an indictment of our immigration system.  We allowed a terrorist cell to infiltrate our country under the pretense of asylum.  These ingrates then began to impose the jizya, which is a tax on the kaffirs.  This tax came in the form of welfare.  Many Islamic leaders see this as part of the greater Jihad. 
 

Not long ago, this country had a policy that prohibited immigrants from becoming wards of the state.  We once had the ability to deport those who failed to become productive.    It’s called the Public Charge Doctrine.  Unfortunately, liberals have undermined this necessary policy.  They see legions of teat squawkers as a ticket to power, even if it means compromising our national security.  Doubt me?  Look at what is happening in Europe.

R.I.P. George Jones

This morning I heard the news that George Jones passed away.  For the remainder of the day the above song played in my head.  Obviously, he is a country music legend.  He’s also a legend in other regards.  I remember my parents took my brothers and me to an outdoor concert in Indiana.  Mr. Jones lived up to his moniker:  No Show Jones.
 

I mainly associate Possum with Tammy Wynette.  Golden Ring was one of their most famous songs.  And through that association is one of my earliest memories.  When my mother put me down for a nap (which I hated) she would play Tammy Wynette.  Here is the song that I cannot forget:

 

May you rest in peace, George Jones.  God knows, I couldn’t during my childhood naps.

The Federal Governments Failure in the Quest for Flight

Government success is fast becoming an oxymoron.  Alright, I’ll concede that some projects in the past have been successful, such as the Hoover Dam and the space program, but I’m hard pressed for others.  The Obama administration’s adventures of misfortune are rapidly eroding the public’s confidence in government “investments.”  The latest casualty is Fisker Motor Company, which by the way,  is an Al Gore venture.  They are facing bankruptcy.  Here is an excerpt from The Examiner:

Fisker Automotive laid off three quarters of its staff today to avoid bankruptcy while it seeks an angel with big bucks to help it become operational again.

The maker of the luxury hybrid Karma says it has “at least” $30 million in cash, and $15 million more due after settling a claim this week with its bankrupt battery maker A123 Systems, according to Reuters.

But the company owes $192 million on a $193 million Department of Energy “green” loan. It was supposed to receive $529 million, but the DOE declined to pay the full amount in May 2011 after Fisker fell behind on its targets. Executives who kept their jobs are trying to renegotiate a $10 million loan payment due on April 22.

The federal government has a long history of wasting money.  I recently watched a documentary on the race for the first in flight; it came down to the Wright brothers and Sam Langley.  We all know who won, but what we weren’t told is that the Wright brothers invested their own money, whereas Langley was funded by the federal government.  Langley received over $50,000 from the federal government in the form of a grant.  The Wright brothers, however, invested $1000 and that included room, board and transportation of their airplane to Kitty Hawk, NC.

 

Government failures aren’t just an Obama phenomenon.  It’s a Washington D.C. tradition.

The Progressive Gospels

After watching a number of documentaries on Hitler’s Germany, I’m struck by the parallel ideologies of the Nazis and the Progressives. Both believe in the evolutionary principles of Darwin and in doing so they had to destroy the pillars of Western civilization in the name of progress.

One of the first institutions both attacked is traditional values. The Nazis believed that the children belonged to the State. We’re witnessing the same kind of attitude with liberals. Progressives don’t believe parents have a say in their child’s education, or how they’re raised. Recently, a professor and commentator at MSNBC proclaimed that your kids belong to the collective.


 

The Nazis instituted the Hitler Youth and Lebensborn program, which was designed for the sole purpose of raising the birthrate of Aryan children.  The Progressives, however, instituted the welfare state, enslaving single mothers (and their children) to a lifetime of dependency, and now they're attacking the time honored tradition of a marriage between one man and one woman.

Both the Nazi and Progressive ideologies despise Christianity.   Heinrich Himmler proclaimed he wanted to pull it out by the roots.  Progressives are doing the same by shunning and silencing Christians who dare profess their religion, or say a prayer in a public forum by using the courts as a weapon.  Their contempt for Christianity is as virulent as any of Hitler’s Nazis.

Both had to revise history in order to implement their ideologies.  The above video goes into detail on the Nazis referendum.  Progressives, on the other hand, had to distort and dishonor our founding principles and documents, and especially those who fought for our independence.  They have successfully replaced our founders’ constitution with their own.  Hence, their Darwinian premise of a living and breathing constitution. 

Both have abused science.  The Nazis used all sorts of crackpot theories to advance their sense of superiority, such as Hanns Horbiger’s “World Ice Theory.”  Click on the link below for this wild nonsense.  The Progressives, in turn, advanced their Global Warming scheme in order to subjugate and control the population.  This lie is being refuted daily.

 

Finally, both advocated and implemented eugenics.  Germany and the United States sterilized and warehoused millions of their citizens.  The final solution for the Nazis was the Holocaust.  The Progressives have Planned Parenthood and abortions.  Their style isn’t on the same level of horror as a concentration camp, but their disdain for life and their fellow human beings is just as reprehensible.  If anyone has any doubts about that, I suggest you read about the atrocities at Kermit Gosnell’s clinic.
 

 

The Progressives will hoot and holler about this comparison.  But the facts are the facts and as much as they want, they can’t distort this part of their history.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein's Jihad on Common Sense

Gang of Eight Produces Simpson-Mazzoli II

Just as suspected, the Gang of Eight has come out with Simpson-Mazzoli II.  This is basically the same plan that failed miserably in 1986.  Here is an outline of how these invaders can obtain citizenship:

PATH TO CITIZENSHIP

—The estimated 11 million people living in the U.S. illegally could obtain "registered provisional immigrant status" six months after enactment of the bill as long as:

(1) The Homeland Security Department has developed border security and fencing plans.

(2) They arrived in the U.S. prior to Dec. 31, 2011, and maintained continuous physical presence since then.

(3) They do not have a felony conviction or three or more misdemeanors.

(4) They pay a $500 fine.

—People in provisional legal status could work and travel in the U.S. but would not be eligible for federal benefits.

—The provisional legal status lasts six years and is renewable for another $500.

—People deported for noncriminal reasons can apply to re-enter in provisional status if they have a spouse or child who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, or if they had been brought to the U.S. as a child.

—After 10 years in provisional status, immigrants can seek a green card and lawful permanent resident status if they are up-to-date on taxes and pay a $1,000 fine, have maintained continuous physical presence in the U.S., meet work requirements, and learn English. Also the border triggers must have been met, and all people waiting to immigrate through the legal system as of date of enactment of the legislation must have been dealt with.

—People brought to the country as youths would be able to get green cards in five years, and citizenship immediately thereafter

Now compare that summary to the Simpson-Mazzoli Act of 1986:

The Immigration Reform and Control Act was passed and signed into law on November 6, 1986. The purpose of this legislation was to amend, revise, and reform/re-assess the status of unauthorized immigrants set forth in the Immigration and Nationality Act. The content of this bill is overwhelming and is divided into many sections such as control of unauthorized immigration, legalization and reform of legal immigration. The focus of this précis will be on the legalization aspect of the bill.

This bill gave unauthorized aliens the opportunity to apply and gain legal status if they met mandated requirements. The fate or status of all those who applied fell into the hands of “Designated Entities” and finally the U.S. Attorney General. Applicants had to prove that they lived and maintained a continuous physical presence in the U.S. since January 1st, 1982, possess a clean criminal record, and provide proof of registration within the Selective Service. Moreover, applicants had to meet minimal knowledge requirements in U.S. history, government and the English language or be pursuing a course of study approved by the Attorney General.

This bill also outlined previsions for temporary residents’ travel, employment, false statements, numerical limitations, adjustments for status and treatment of applications by “Designated Entities”. Furthermore, after an applicant was assigned a legal status or deemed a temporary lawful resident, they were disqualified from receiving all forms of public welfare assistance for five years. The rules for applications and welfare assistance did not apply to Cuban or Haitian immigrants.

The only difference between Simpson-Mazzoli and this bill is there are over 400 waivers!  Geez…that sounds a lot like Obamacare.  On top of that, the head of the immigration officers union was ejected from the Gang of Eights press conference.  That should be omen.

The general consensus amongst these august senators is we must do something to fix our immigration problems.  I prefer the wisdom of Calvin Coolidge:

NPR's Misguided Insight Into the Boston Marathon Bombings

WV Student Suspended and Arrested for Wearing NRA Shirt

Here is another incident of outrageous stupidity in our public schools.

Jared Marcum, an 8th grade student, was suspended, arrested and is now facing two charges after refusing to change his shirt.

 "People are saying that I did the right thing, that they're proud," Jared said.

 The 14-year-old student at Logan Middle School in Logan, West Virginia says the NRA shirt that sparked the controversy now symbolizes a fight that is just getting started.

"What they're doing is trying to take away my rights, my freedom of speech and my second amendment," Jared said.

 "You can take the firearms out of the equation, what this about is fundamental rights," Jared's father Allen Lardieri said.

 Lardieri says his questions for the school district remain unanswered.

 "I'm still confused, thoroughly confused," he said. "They school didn't even make a statement to the news agencies, much less myself."

It’s time the local communities stepped up and rid themselves of these morons who run their schools, or have an alternative like charter schools.  Or maybe privatize the system, so parents have a choice.  Libtards can submit their children to fascist indoctrination, while conservatives can actually educate theirs.  Something has to be done.

A Different Perspective on Blackbeard the Pirate

Mitch Kokai of Carolina Journal Radio interviewed Author Kevin Duffus about his book on Blackbeard.  This is a unique perspective about the infamous pirate and North Carolina.  I’ll be sure to put this on my reading list.

RALEIGH — If you’ve spent any time learning about pirates, you’ve likely heard of Blackbeard. Author Kevin Duffus says what you think you know about Blackbeard might be very different from the true story. Duffus wrote the book The Last Days of Black Beard the Pirate. In 2012 he addressed the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society on the topic “Blackbeard and his Carolina Pirates: Bloodthirsty Rogues or Hapless Marionettes?” Duffus also discussed Blackbeard with Mitch Kokai for Carolina Journal Radio. (Click here to find a station near you or to learn about the weekly CJ Radio podcast.)

Kokai: Let’s get to the title of the speech: “Bloodthirsty Rogues or Hapless Marionettes?” I understand that has to do with what Blackbeard actually was and the role he actually played. How did that title come about?

Duffus: Well, I set out really to research, as closely as possible, the last six months of Blackbeard’s life. In fact, from the moment that he wrecked his famous flagship, Queen Anne’s Revenge, in Beaufort Inlet, to the day he was killed, just six months later at Ocracoke on November 22, I was curious to see whether historians may have missed something along the way.

There were numerous inconsistencies and other events that purportedly took place during that time that just seemed to be a little impractical or unlikely. So I began to go back to the original sources — the letters and documents that were written and generated and described the appearance of this man who eventually earned the name Blackbeard. And I very soon discovered that there had been numerous errors made by historians over the years.

For example, when Blackbeard was attacked at Ocracoke, the Royal Navy sailors did not approach the island from the ocean. They came from the Pamlico Sound, which startled me, and it also explained why he allowed himself to be captured. So, over the years, I actually wrote the book and published for the first time numerous revisions of the Blackbeard story.

And then in the past four years, I’ve continued to research it even more deeply, looking specifically into the economics and politics of the time. And I’ve come to the conclusion that Blackbeard was merely a pawn in a much more complicated and intriguing game of politics that involved the proprietary system of government and the economy of colonial North Carolina.

Kokai: We’re going to get into some of those details. First, let’s get into some of the basics of Blackbeard. People who think of Blackbeard think of the guy with the crazy hair, the bulging eyes, the fuses coming out of his hat. Is any of this true based on the historic record?

Duffus: Based on the historic record, none of that is true. There is only one single authoritative source that describes Blackbeard’s appearance, and it was just a few short words. He was a tall, spare man with a beard that he wore very long. And that’s it.

So all of these conceptions of Blackbeard with the burning fuses and the ribbons tied in his beard or the fact that he murdered people and raped women and had 14 wives — all of that, frankly, is fictional if you rely entirely on the primary sources. It’s only published sources — secondary sources — that have created this image and persona, which I have found to be rather ridiculous.

Kokai: Now back to the more serious stuff: You say that the record shows that perhaps Blackbeard was actually tied up in some of the politics of the day in North Carolina. How so?

Duffus: Well, a good deal of the basis for this theory, unfortunately, is circumstantial. But the fact is Blackbeard sailed to North Carolina in the summer of 1718 and asked for the pardon of His Majesty King George from the colony’s governor, Charles Eden. Blackbeard actually, for over seven months, had plenty of opportunities to receive that pardon from other colonial governors, but he made a very determined effort to reach North Carolina. He had with him when he arrived in Bath, North Carolina, 60 African slaves aboard his ship. And modern pirate historians have often waxed lyrical at the racial diversity of Blackbeard’s crew.

But what I found in doing diligent research is that six months later, most of those Africans were no longer with Blackbeard. And no one has ever asked the question, well, what happened to them? They didn’t vanish into thin air. The fact is they were sold as slaves. And it’s just very suspicious that Blackbeard delivered these 60 slaves to a community that had no slaves, or very few slaves, and no access to slaves, no slave markets.

And so, Blackbeard and his pirates fulfilled a tremendous economic need for the tidewater area of eastern North Carolina. Then when you add additional sources and you learn that Gov. Eden’s political adversary burglarized the colony’s records in an attempt to find incriminating evidence that might help depose the Lords Proprietor’s governor, and maybe even overturn the colony and return it to royal authority — all of these things are all woven together in this fascinating web of intrigue.

Kokai: What do you think, within the record, would indicate why Blackbeard has taken on such a strange and well-known history that may not actually be true? Why do we think of Blackbeard the way we do?

Duffus: We believe his name was actually Edward Thatch, which in fact may not even have been his real name. I believe Edward was probably his first name. But … his nickname, Blackbeard, is one reason that actually made him famous in 1718. And also the manner in which he died — I mean, he had his head cut off at Ocracoke in the heat of battle. The fact that he blockaded the Port of Charleston made him famous in 1718 and 1719 in Colonial America.

Society just sort of grabbed hold of this one particular pirate. He had a cool name: Blackbeard. The fact is, though, no other people in his time actually used a color associated with their name and a surname. And his name was — he used Black. Actually, there was another gentleman of the time whose name was Red MacGregor, which I think is a great example of how naming conventions worked in 1718. He used his actual surname.

But nobody named themselves after a cosmetic feature of their body. When people read my book, they learn that I think Blackbeard could have been named Blackbeard even if he hadn’t had a beard.

Kokai: But if there’s one key fact in the book that you’d like people to know, just based on this interview, that could help them decide to read more in the book, what would it be? What would be a key fact about Blackbeard that they ought to know?

Duffus: I think maybe, to me, one of the most important facts doesn’t even directly concern Blackbeard, but the men who surrounded him in his final days. That final crew of his, which numbered about 25 men, essentially, were the sons of North Carolina property owners. These were young men whose parents lived along the Pamlico River or in the Bath region.

And, according to traditional history, all of those men were executed in Williamsburg and were essentially strangers to North Carolina. But I think the identity of Blackbeard is important, but the identity of his crew members, I think, is one of the most important linchpins in this revised history of the pirate.

How Do We Address Public School Hysteria and Indoctrination?

It seems a day doesn’t go by without a report about some form of hysteria, or stupidity in public education.  We’ve all heard about the suspension of the Pop Tart kid, along with numerous others who’ve been disciplined for being children.  I thank God, I didn’t grow up in a time when playing cowboys and Indians, or cops and robbers on the playground would’ve drawn a suspicious eye.  If that were the case, my principal would’ve declared me public enemy #1.

What we are witnessing isn’t education; it’s indoctrination.  And it gets worse.  A father in Florida found a waded up paper in a trash can written by his son.  Here’s an excerpt from an article:

The words are written in crayon, in the haphazard bumpiness of a child's scrawl.

"I am willing to give up some of my constitutional rights in order to be safer or more secure

They're the words that Florida father Aaron Harvey was stunned to find his fourth-grade son had written, after a lesson in school about the Constitution.

 Aaron Harvey's son wrote as part of a school lesson, "I am willing to give up some of my constitutional rights in order to be safer or more secure." TheBlaze has redacted the child's name.

Harvey's son attends Cedar Hills Elementary in Jacksonville, Fla. Back in January, a local attorney came in to teach the students about the Bill of Rights. But after the attorney left, fourth-grade teacher Cheryl Sabb dictated the sentence to part of the class and had them copy it down, he said.

 

In Wisconsin, an eighth grade teacher is brainwashing her students in the finer points of our two party system:

Eighth graders in Union Grove, Wisc. — a tiny enclave just over the Illinois border — are learning reading, writing, arithmetic and, of course, that conservatives are a bunch of authoritarian, oppressive thugs.

As EAGnews explains, an unnamed eighth-grade teacher in the Union Grove school district assigned a vocabulary crossword puzzle with clues containing “definitions” of liberalism and conservatism.

Conservatism, according to the public school assignment, is “the political belief of preserving traditional moral values by restricting personal freedoms and encouraging prosperity through economic freedom.”

Let that ridiculous middle part soak in, perhaps while you gulp down a massive sugary soda and take target practice with your favorite firearm.

How are impressionable Union Grove eighth graders instructed about liberalism? They are indoctrinated that it is “the political belief of equality and personal freedom for everyone, often changing the current system to increase government protection of civil liberties.”

While teachers are feminizing boys and lecturing students about the evils of conservatives and our Constitution, we’re finding out the little urchins are unable to read and write.  Over 80% of New York City’s graduates are illiterate.  Let’s give our educators a big round of applause.

There is hope.  North Carolina is taking a different path.  Republican legislators are developing a system where charter schools have a more independent voice from the state apparatchiks.  Carolina Journal reported the following:

The bill would empower the state Department of Public Instruction’s existing Office of Charter Schools as the principal administrative unit, working under the direction of the Charter Board. The Charter Board would operate independent of the State Board of Education.

“The charter staff … is in place, and I don’t believe that there is going to be any extra cost attached to that,” Tillman said.

The Charter Board would replicate many of the functions now performed by the state Charter Schools Advisory Council, but it would be smaller — 11 voting members instead of 15. Nine members would be appointed by the governor or the General Assembly. The lieutenant governor and state treasurer also would be voting members.

The State Board of Education would be granted veto authority over any Charter Board action, provided it had assent from a three-quarters majority of its board and the veto was voted on within 45 days of the Charter Board’s action.

The Charter Board would provide technical assistance to charter schools and applicants, establish rules, oversee the application and approval process, monitor existing charter schools, renew charters, and revoke them.

North Carolina is also trying to implement a merit based system, instead of tenured.  Those teachers who do outstanding work should be compensated.  Again, here is an excerpt from Carolina Journal:

The bill would modify the letter-grade system given to schools that was passed in last year's education reform act. Berger said his proposal would expand on last year's reforms by having a component telling parents whether the school made or failed to make growth goals.

"Together these two measures will foster greater transparency, encourage struggling schools to improve and allow parents to determine the best options for their children."

Yet to be worked out is a pay-for-performance or merit pay system. Berger said he was waiting from a report from school districts, which is expected next week.

Teacher tenure would end in five years, even for teachers who now have tenure.

Replacing the tenure system would be one-year contracts issued by local school boards for teachers with fewer than three years employment. Teachers employed three or more years would be offered contracts ranging from one to four years. Top teachers would be offered $500 salary supplements.

 
This would be a good first step.  Education should be local and intimate.  Any effort to nationalize our educational system should be thwarted.  The federal government is making a concerted effort to do just that.  They’re trying to implement Common Core State Standards.  Do you really want a bunch of incompetent federal bureaucrats dictating the education of your children?  Or do you want a say in what is being taught?  Unfortunately, North Carolina signed up for this nonsense in 2010.  It’s time to get out of it before the feds fully embed their claws into our educational system, or we might have more teachers like the one in Wisconsin.

Charlotte's Forgotten Health Care Legacy

 I watched an excellent documentary about the development of Charlotte’s health care system.  Most notable was the establishment of hospitals by churches and citizens.  Two major hospitals in our area can be traced back to the activities of individuals and their parishes.

 

After the devastation of the War of Northern Aggression, Jane Wilkes saw a need for nursing skills while tending to wounded soldiers.  She helped raise funds for St. Peters Hospital and also for Good Samaritan Hospital, which was the first privately funded all-negro facility in the state of North Carolina.  She and her fellow citizens typified Alexis de Tocqueville’s ideals of what it means to be an American.  This kind of civic pride and participation lasted until the mid-twentieth century when local governments began to take over the hospitals.

 

You won’t find monuments or public buildings named after Jane Wilkes in Charlotte.  Those kinds of accolades belong to rapacious politicians who raid the public treasury.   No, her legacy endures even though most Charlotteans don’t remember her.

Should Charlotte Observer Editors be Declared Mentally Incompetent?

 

Having read Charlotte Observer editorials for the past 20 years, I can understand Peter St. Onge’s concern about the mentally incompetent being denied the ability to vote. Libtardism is a mental deficiency equivalent to retardation.  Here is an excerpt from his latest tear stained editorial:

Last November, Moriah McKinney went to the Watauga County courthouse with her mother, Cathy, to vote. It was Moriah’s first time, and she wanted to do it right. She had a sample ballot that she’d studied and filled out, and when it was her turn, she laid it next to the real ballot and, one by one, picked her candidates.

Moriah has Down Syndrome. She’s 21 years old. She was nervous heading into the courthouse, says her mother. And heading out? “She was proud.”

So what do Republicans in Raleigh want to do with that sweet moment and thousands like it? Senate Bill 668, introduced earlier this month, would amend the state constitution so that anyone declared mentally incompetent by an N.C. court would be disqualified from voting.

The bill makes no distinction between those who truly don’t have the capacity to vote from those who do but have been declared incompetent for other reasons. Like Moriah. Before she turned 21 last year, her parents brought her before a judge because they wanted authority over Moriah’s medical decisions, and because their daughter doesn’t comprehend the particulars of money and finances.

She doesn’t comprehend the particulars of money and finances?  Why that’s 80% of the Democratic vote!  No wonder Mr. St. Onge is concerned.  The whole Charlotte Observer editorial board would be declared mentally incompetent.

Money and finances are a major part of government.  We have to find a way to pay for all of these programs.  Mr. St. Onge and his fellow libtards believe money grows on trees.  Here is an example of his mental deficiency:

But this is how Republicans in Raleigh have hacked their way through the legislative session. They find a problem – or invent one – then provide an answer that’s disconnected from real-life consequences. They attack a largely imagined voter fraud problem with a photo ID bill that could disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters. They address an unemployment insurance shortfall by disproportionately cutting benefits for the jobless. They turn down a federal expansion of Medicaid that not only would buy them time to fix a broken state system, but would give hundreds of thousands more North Carolinians a medical safety net.

Apparently, Mr. St. Onge doesn’t read his own paper.  If he did, he would know about the waste and fraud in Medicaid.  He would also know that the Republicans are addressing the fiscal incompetence of DHHS.  He would also know about the billions of dollars owed to the federal government who financed the state’s unemployed and demand their money back.  But according to this wizard at the Disturber, if you throw enough money at a problem, it will eventually go away.

As you can see, Mr. St. Onge is as mentally incompetent as Moriah McKinney.  The only difference between the two is she has Down Syndrome and is willing to do her homework.

Senator Kay Hagan's Condescending Attitude toward North Carolinians

Senator Kay Hagan once again voted against the interest of North Carolina constituents.  She voted to expand universal background checks on gun purchases even though both sides of the aisle concede that this wouldn’t have stopped the Newtown massacre.

What is especially significant about this vote is the condescending way she and her staff treated concerned citizens who opposed this bill.  Grass Roots North Carolina reported the following incident:  

 US Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC, GRNC-1) plans to vote for the Toomey-Manchin “compromise” amendment to S. 649 which will come up for a vote possibly as early as tomorrow. After months of sitting on the fence and testing the political waters, Sen. Hagan and her office staffers are no longer hiding behind vague comments as to her position on the bill. Several GRNC members have called Senator Hagan’s office today and the response from her staff was united: Senator Hagan will vote for the Toomey-Manchin amendment to S. 649. When several GRNC members pointed out over the phone that it may cost Hagan their votes in her re-election campaign next year, the answer from her office was simple: “you probably wouldn’t vote for her anyway”…

We need a recall mechanism.  There is only one way to get rid of rogue senators like Kay Hagan, and that is repealing the 17^th Amendment

Obamacare's Federal/Big Insurance Utopian Dreams

A couple of months ago, I hypothesized about a possible collusion between the federal government and prominent health insurance companies.  I stated they would find a way to incorporate a Federal Reserve like system that would sanction and protect companies like Blue Cross and Blue Shield, while they in turn ceded power to the federal government.  It looks like my hypothesis is coming true.

The Progressives have an additional bonus.  They are realizing their Marxist dreams:  from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.  Carolina Journal reported the following:

Devon Herrick, senior fellow and health economist at the Dallas, Texas-based National Center for Policy Analysis, said his organization expects major restructuring of the health insurance market over the next decade, and lots of employers to start dropping coverage nationally due to Medicaid expansion and subsidized health exchanges.

“We predict a lot of firms will find a way to get out of providing coverage,” Herrick said.

“I suspect that we will see employers taking a wait-and-see approach,” Allen countered, with none wanting to be the first to drop its insurance coverage benefit even though it would be cheaper to pay the Obamacare tax penalty for not providing insurance than to pay the employer share of insurance premiums.

“I think a lot of people are carefully watching what employers do, and especially what the larger employers do,” Allen said.

“All the products on the exchanges have to be qualified health plans,” and insurance carriers are required to provide the same “scope of coverage,” he said.

“We’ll be offering a full choice,” he said, “to make sure consumers get the products they want. They’ll look a lot like our products look today.”

Blue Cross would slot buyers into different medal levels descending from platinum and gold to silver and bronze. The higher levels would have richer coverage and higher costs, Allen said. “Bronze covers less of the total cost than, say, a platinum does.”

As a general rule of thumb, Blue Cross would offer “the same set of products to folks regardless of their income level,” Allen said. “So a bronze plan will be the same for someone at 20 percent of the federal poverty level as someone at 400 percent of the federal poverty level.”

The difference would be in awarding higher subsidies to lower-income individuals to offset premium costs.

“Obviously lower-income gets a bigger subsidy. Folks making less than 250 percent of the federal poverty level get a richer option if they choose a silver plan,” Allen said. “The plan has less out-of-pocket costs for the customer.”

So basically, the rich will pay more for health insurance while at the same time subsidizing the care of others who can’t afford the Obamacare premiums.  Who knew utopia was a federal government program away?
