Illegal Alien Parents Decry Participation in Public Schools

A republic is doomed when its populace no longer values citizenship.  The United States has just about reached that point.  A 1982 Supreme Court case, Plyler v Doe, dealt a blow not only to Congress’ constitutional prerogative on rules of naturalization; it also legitimized illegal aliens and undermined the sovereignty of the United States.

What the Supreme Court did was reprehensible.  Not only did they violate the law, our Constitution, they have caused a schism within the States and our local communities.  Illegal alien children can attend public schools, at taxpayer expense; yet, their parents can’t participate in their child’s education.  The Charlotte Observer reports:

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools team assigned to find a way undocumented immigrant parents can volunteer in schools is running short on time and even shorter on potential solutions to the hot-button issue.

The team’s final meeting is Tuesday, and it has yet to find a quick, easily affordable fix to the current policy, which requires anyone volunteering in schools to produce a Social Security number and driver’s license for a criminal background check.

Undocumented immigrants – people not in the country legally – do not have such forms of identification, making it impossible for them to volunteer in schools where their children are students.

The team has so far only identified one possible alternative to the current policy: Accepting a valid passport, along with fingerprinting.

However, CMS officials said in June that resorting to fingerprinting parents would be cost-prohibitive, not to mention incompatible with the current program.

Team member Hector Vaca, an advocate for immigrants with Action NC, is critical of the team’s “slow” progress and said he’ll show up at the Tuesday meeting with a proposal that the study group continue meeting until a solution can be found.

Otherwise, he said, “the entire effort yielded nothing.”

CMS officials said last week that they would be open to extending its study, if the group agreed to it.

“We won’t reach any type of consensus or agreement on solutions by the end of the last meeting, which means undocumented parents will continue to be excluded during the school year,” Vaca said.

And yet, there are those who deem a judicial oligarchy infallible.  The consequences of Plyler v. Doe state otherwise.

State of Indiana to Submit Bill to Federal Government for Illegal Alien Expenses

The Supreme Court has made numerous rulings that violate the sovereignty of states. Just recently, they trounced on Arizona’s rights to protect their citizens from a third-world invasion.

Previous decisions by this court, such as Plyer v Doe, have conferred rights and privileges unto illegal aliens and their children at taxpayer expense. Now we’re fed up and are demanding retribution. Indiana wants their citizens reimbursed for the federal government’s betrayal:

INDIANAPOLIS Indiana plans to bill the federal government $130,953,979, the estimated cost of state services used by illegal immigrants since July 1, 2011.

A 2011 law, sponsored by state Sen. Mike Delph, R-Carmel, requires state budget officials to determine how much Indiana spends annually to support illegal immigrants.
The estimate includes $111 million for education, $8 million for health care and $12 million for prisons.

"The federal government is to blame for not controlling our borders," Delph said. "I am requesting Congress to pay back what is owed to us, the hard-working, law-abiding, legal residents of the state of Indiana."

Here is a comment from state Sen. Mike Delph’s Facebook page:

1. Today the State of Indiana as a result of SEA 590, sent a bill to Speaker John Boehner (R, Ohio) and to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D, Nevada) seeking reimbursement of $130,000,000 plus in expenses as a result of the failure of the Federal government to do its job regarding immigration enforcement. If the Feds are going to tell us it's their problem and we as a sovereign state cannot enga...ge in their responsibility, then they should at least reimburse state and local taxpayers for our costs. It's only fair! Today also is the day I decided I just don't care anymore. I am going after any enabler of the Ivory Tower Elite Establishment that chokes American freedom! I will start next week with a well known statewide Republican officeholder and candidate. If this week didn't stir the conscience of American Patriots, nothing will.

You Want a Compromise on Immigration Reform? Here is a Compromise!

The amnesty drumbeat keeps pounding away. Illegal aliens believe they have a right to stay in the United States and will continue to lobby for programs like the Dream Act, until they get their way. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) was asked about immigration reform by Journal Editorial Report host Paul Gigot:

Sen. Rubio said, “The first step I’m trying to make is to deal with children basically that were brought here at a very young age through no fault of their own, find themselves here undocumented … All I’m trying to do is to help these kids do right what their parents did wrong.”

He explained that if children graduate from high school, haven’t committed any felonies and came to the U.S. before a certain age, then the government will provide a non-immigrant visa that allows them to stay in the country legally. It would allow young people to complete their education, but unlike amnesty they would have to apply for a green card in order to stay in the country after the visa expires.

Sen. Rubio said his plan is not providing amnesty because “There’s a difference that we’ve long recognized in this country, for example, in the case of refugees, between the people who have chosen to break the law and be here illegally and those who were either brought here by their parents or by circumstances … When you’re eight years old you don’t choose to come to this country illegally. Many of these kids don’t even know they’re undocumented until they graduate and try to go to college.”

The common refrain seems to be that these poor unfortunates where dragged kicking and screaming into the United States by their parents. It’s not their fault they’re here, and we should give them amnesty so they can have their fair share of the taxpayer teat.

Fine, they want compromise. Let’s give them compromise. The following conditions must be met before an amnesty Dream Act can be passed:

1) The illegal alien parents who brought them here must be deported immediately

2) No chain migration is allowed

3) If a Dream Act recipient is caught and convicted of aiding and a betting an illegal they automatically lose citizenship and will be deported.

4) Repeal of Plyler v. Doe.

5) Repeal of birth right citizenship

The repeal of Plyler v. Doe and birth right citizenship is imperative. These two rogue rulings by the Supreme Court are the main causes of our illegal immigration problem. The first devalues citizenship; the latter is an affront to natural law.

And if the Supreme Court continues to meddle into Congress's constitutionally mandated prerogative of setting the rules for naturalization, then the 14th Amendment should be repealed. For it is this amendment the federal judiciary has constantly used to bludgeon states and their citizens with nonsensical rulings such as Plyler v. Doe.

Those are the terms. No consideration should be given to the Dream Act until all demands have been met.

Illegal Aliens Bankrupting States

States and municipalities are under financial strains.  The cost associated with illegal aliens has run its course.  Texas has a budget short fall of $18 billion.  The cost to house and provide medical care to prisoners who are from foreign countries amounts to $250 million.

Jerry McGinty, the Texas Department of Corrections' chief financial officer, said state prisons held 11,766 offenders who are foreign citizens in July. He said it costs the state about $171 million per year to hold them, although the federal government reimburses about 10 percent of that total.

Rick Allgeyer, director of research for the Health and Human Services Commission, said illegal immigrant health care - mostly emergency hospital care - cost the state nearly $100 million last year.

The cost of educating illegals is staggering.  The following stats are from the Pew Hispanic Research study:

The U.S. Census Bureau just released 2008 figures showing the national average total per-pupil funding from all revenue sources was $12,028. Although estimates of the number of school-age children of illegal immigrants don’t separate those attending public vs. private schools, it’s reasonable to assume that nearly all attend public schools since most come from lower-income families. Therefore, if one multiplies $12,028 by the roughly 3.7 million students with illegal-immigrant parents, then one gets a national total funding cost of $44.5 billion.

The Supreme Court is responsible for the outrageous cost of educating illegals.

In 1982, the Supreme Court rules in Plyler v. Doe , 457 U.S. 202 (1982), that public schools were prohibited from denying immigrant students access to a public education. The Court stated that undocumented children have the same right to a free public education as U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Undocumented immigrant students are obligated, as are all other students, to attend school until they reach the age mandated by state law.

With this one ruling, a bunch of unelected judges who don't know the limitations of their power have cost the citizens of this country dearly; and have rendered citizenship almost meaningless.

The Obama Administration will not allow the states to enforce federal immigration laws, yet they sit idly by and watch them go bankrupt.  The federal mandates and interference in local issues has ran its course and now the states can no longer turn a blind eye to the heavy handedness of federal politicians, bureaucrats and judges.
