President Jimmy Carter: A Legacy Worth Revisiting

One of the legs on this year’s summer vacation was a trip to Andersonville prisoner of war camp. I happened to notice Plains, GA was a short jaunt away, so I decided to add it to my itinerary which happened to be on the 4th of July.

When driving to Plains, one cannot help but notice that this town is a deeply rural area; it reminded me a lot ot where I grew up, but this place was smaller. My town at least had a 7-Eleven. The only gas station I saw was Billy Carter’s and that’s a museum. I mean this place is small. I stood in the middle of road on the 4th of July and had no worries about someone running me over. Here are some pictures.

I also visited Jimmy Carter’s boyhood home and the graves of his mother, Miss Lillian and his brother Billy, who was a memorable character. They rest in a cemetery down the road.

I was a kid when Jimmy Carter was president of the United States. That was a memorable time in more ways than one. We celebrated the bicentennial around that period. We also had rampant unemployment, inflation and an energy crisis which entailed gas shortages and lines. And who can forget the “malaise” speech and lecture about lowering thermostats and wearing sweaters? But hey, we had great music back in those days and people were patriotic. You can’t deny that.

I didn’t care much for President Carter’s policies. The Panama Canal was particularly irksome. To this day, I still don’t understand why he and the Democratic controlled Senate gave it away. Twice, I’ve watched a documentary about this debacle and I’m still not satisfied.

While I visited the old high school/museum, I bought his book, “A Full Life: Reflections at Ninety.” I checked to make sure the Panama Canal was indexed and have added it to my reading list. I’m not sure when I’ll get to it, but I will.

The reason why I’m writing about President Carter is The Abbeville Institute recently published an article about his legacy. I don’t agree with their policy analysis, but I do on President Carter’s character. Here is an excerpt:

Certainly Carter had his problems as president, but most of this involved perception not policy. Carter can be credited with beginning the deregulation of the Ronald Reagan era and with installing Paul Volcker as Federal Reserve chairman, a move that helped end the destructive inflation of the 1970s. He also pushed for American energy independence long before it was trendy. Carter’s record on taxation and foreign policy are mixed at best, and no one would credit him with doing anything to end the Cold War, but he was as interested in negotiation and diplomacy as Reagan but without a willing partner in Moscow. Carter’s insistence that people put on a sweater when it was cold and turn down the thermostat rubbed the consumerist American culture the wrong way, but that was the Southern man in him. “Environmentalism” was in fact just a Northern distortion of Southern agrarian. Carter could eloquently discuss Civil Rights and race because unlike most men who lived at Pennsylvania Ave., he had been around African-Americans his entire life. He was a reconciliationist in Washington, something most ideologues could not and cannot understand.

I believe the CATO Institute published something similar awhile back particularly about the Federal Reserve and Paul Volcker. This is an argument that should be studied further. I believe this president deserves that much.

What I learned on my visit is that Jimmy Carter was the consummate outsider not only in Washington D.C. but in the capitol of Georgia. Anyone who participates in the political process has to deal with an entrenched machine. The Georgia clique tried to deny the man from Plains the governorship. Carter fought back and won; that takes character.

Here is another excerpt from the Abbeville Institute.:

It’s fitting that Carter never profited from his time as president. His books don’t sell much. He scribbles, paints, and makes furniture, teaches a bi-monthly Sunday school class, works with charity and humanitarian organizations, and walks around town with Rosalynn. They have been married for seventy-two years, and she is as Southern as Jimmy. Their house is unremarkable, and his “museum” is nothing more than the former Plains public school. He flies coach and the American taxpayer spends the less on Carter’s retirement than any other living president. Carter is just another citizen of his home town, just as Jefferson became just another citizen of Charlottesville.

If you visit Plains, Georgia, you can’t help but admire our 39th president and his little town who’s only gas station is his brother’s museum.

Georgians Beat Back San Franciscan Horde

Last night, I looked towards the south and witnessed a smoky hue drifting upon the air.  A distant murmur, barely audible, whispered upon a breeze.  What could this phenomena be?  I rushed inside and turned on the television and behold the mystery was revealed.  Democrats lost the 6th congressional district of Georgia.

Oh, the wailing and moaning by libtards near and far as they witnessed their $30 million campaign donations consumed in a spectacular funeral pyre.  Why? Oh, why?  They asked.  Why don’t the American people love us?  Why are we forsaken?

Democrats thought they had the perfect Trojan horse.  They wheeled out a young man who seemed pleasant and reasonable; someone who reputedly espoused the same values as these conservative Georgians.

But the citizens peered over the gate and they saw in the distance San Fran Nancy Pelosi and her degenerate horde laying in wait.  The alarm bells rang and these patriots ran to the polls in the tens of thousands to stave off an unholy jihad of centralized government and anti-Christian morals and values.

It was hand to hand combat as Marxists, sexual deviants, and various bands of teat squawkers tried to breach the walls.  But these brave Georgians beat these anti-American miscreants back and saved their district from the clutches of a San Franciscan hag.

And there, these patriotic warriors keep a vigilant eye from their watch towers as smoke and sparks waft from a $30 million funeral pyre.

Norcross, Georgia Transformed into a Third World Hellhole

Illegal immigration has had a huge impact on American small towns.  Citizens feel like strangers in neighborhoods they’ve lived in for decades.  Waves of foreigners have changed the landscape, culture, language and way of life for lifelong residents who’ve watched their towns turned into third world hellholes.

Norcross, Georgia is witnessing a transformation that is bewildering.  Invaders imbued with impertinence and outright disrespect for American values has forced citizens to flee.  Others, mainly the elderly, have no choice but to stay and watch their neighborhoods turn into a National Geographic special.

“Most of the white people who are here have been here for 20 years,” explained James Bell, 64, speaking to a reporter outside a Kroger grocery store. “They have seen the neighborhood change and a lot of them are angry about it.”

Bell, like many others interviewed, said he distinguishes between immigrants who are making an effort to fit into the existing culture and those who he thinks aren’t trying to assimilate. The Vietnamese and the Koreans, he said, are at least keeping to themselves.

“The Latinos just throw it in your face. They’re here for the money. They don’t want to be American,” Bell said. “They don’t care about America.”

He listed big changes that he’s noticed: More renters in the neighborhood who seem to him to care little about the upkeep of their property, single-family houses that he says are filled with multiple families, garbage bins overflowing and litter in the streets.

There are also the subtler things that get under his skin.

“You can see them at the Kroger customer service center desk,” he said, saying that many of his neighbors line up there to send money home to Mexico. It’s a flow of cash leaving this little community, not building it.

And there’s another annoyance, the kind of thing that isn’t a big deal but grates at him. “That’s why there’s always a huge line at the service desk,” Bell said. “If you want to buy a lottery ticket, good luck.”

This is what the Democratic Party’s transformation of America looks like.

Georgia Judge Rules Children of Foreigners Can Become President

Last week, a Georgia judge ruled in favor of Barack Obama’s “natural born” status based on an Indiana court case Arkney v. Governor. Judge Michael M. Malihi stated this in his decision:

Indiana court rejected the argument that Mr. Obama was ineligible stating that children born within the United States are natural born citizens regardless of the citizens of their parents.

So basically, any foreigner who happens to squat on American soil even though they have no allegiance to this country -- maybe even foster hatred of our institutions and peoples -- their child can become president of the United States. In other words, a terrorist like Anwar al-Awlaki has every right to become commander-in-chief of our armed forces. Isn’t that comforting?

Anwar al-Awlaki’s parents were Yemeni citizens who came to the United States on student visas. Anwar just happened to be born in New Mexico. Does anyone doubt the animosity this man had for his “country?” Does anyone doubt that this man wanted to kill his “fellow countrymen?”

A rogue ruling on the 14th Amendment has set a dangerous precedent and now we have judges forsaking our founding fathers vision of natural law and rights. And because of precedent (stare decisis) we have invited a nest of vipers to conspire and obtain one of the highest offices in the country.

Let’s give a golf clap to the Indiana and Georgia courts for opening the door wider for a future president Anwar al-Awlaki. Their rulings give a whole new meaning to “We are the world. We are the children.”

Obama Thumbs Nose at a Georgia Court

Barack Obama has once again thumbed his nose at the American people, this time at a Georgia court. A state judge ordered Obama to appear in the hopes of settling questions about his eligibility to the office of president of the United States. His lawyer filed a motion to quash, which was denied. Hearings began on January 26, but there was only one problem: Obama and his lawyer didn’t show. Instead, they sent a complaint letter to Georgia’s Secretary of State.

The Democratic Party has learned a valuable lesson. If you want to control the electorate, you have to control their Secretary of State. Minnesota was the testing ground for a George Soros plot that paid huge dividends with the election of Al Franken to the U.S. Senate. Now, they’re trying to circumvent the legal process by appealing to Georgia’s Secretary of State.

The American Spectator wrote about this mischievous plan to corrupt our elections:

The vehicle for this planned hijacking of democracy is a below-the-radar non-federal "527" group called the Secretary of State Project. The entity can accept unlimited financial contributions and doesn't have to disclose them publicly until well after the election.

It was revealed during a panel discussion at the Democratic Party's convention last year that the
Democracy Alliance, a financial clearinghouse created by Soros and Progressive insurance magnate Peter B. Lewis, approved the Secretary of State Project as a grantee. The Democracy Alliance aspires to create a permanent political infrastructure of nonprofits, think tanks, media outlets, leadership schools, and activist groups -- a kind of "vast left-wing conspiracy" to compete with the conservative movement. It has brokered more than $100 million in grants to liberal nonprofits, including ACORN.

Let’s just hope that Georgia’s Secretary of State isn’t a George Soros lackey.

Georgia Court to Hold Hearings on Obama's Presidential Eligibility

On January 26, 2012 a Georgia state judge will hold hearings on Barack Obama’s eligibility for president of the United States. WND reported the following:

Hearings have been scheduled for that date for three separate issues to be handled. They all are raised by Georgia residents who are challenging Obama’s name on the 2012 ballot for various reasons, which they are allowed to do under state law.

It is states, usually through the office of secretary of state, that run elections, not the federal government. The national election is simply a compilation of the results of the individual elections within states.

The schedule for the hearings was set by Judge Michael M. Malihi of the Georgia state Office of State Administrative Hearings. In Georgia, a state law requires “every candidate for federal” office who is certified by the state executive committees of a political party or who files a notice of candidacy “shall meet the constitutional and statutory qualifications for holding the office being sought.”

State law also grants the secretary of state and any “elector who is eligible to vote for a candidate” in the state the authority to raise a challenge to a candidate’s qualifications, the judge determined.

Three different plaintiffs’ groups are lined up for separate hearings, including one represented by California attorney Orly Taitz. She had the judge sign a subpoena for Obama’s testimony, and Michael Jablonski, Obama’s attorney for these cases, argued that he should be exempted.

Barack Obama’s father was a foreign national. According to Article II Section I of the United States Constitution this man does not qualify as a “natural born citizen”. His presidency is an affront to natural law, which is the basis of our founding principles. Only one Supreme Court case addresses a “natural born citizen”:

The U.S. Supreme Court opinion cited is Minor v. Happersett from 1875. It includes one of very few references in the nation’s archives that addresses the definition of “natural-born citizen,” a requirement imposed by the U.S. Constitution on only the U.S. president.

That case states:

“The Constitution does not in words say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners.”

That being said, the Wong Kim Ark case does not confer natural born status to aliens born on American soil. And a Supreme Court ruling is not the same as a constitutional amendment.

State of Georgia Sued by Third World Over Illegal Immigration Law

The state of Georgia is being sued by the whole third world just south of our border.  Mexico and a host of Latin American countries, along with their stateside co-conspirators filed papers this past Wednesday:

The Anti-Defamation League, Mexico and the governments of several Central and South American countries filed court papers Wednesday in support of efforts to halt Georgia’s tough new immigration enforcement law.

The other countries joining on the side of those seeking a preliminary injunction in the case include Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Peru

Mexico is concerned about the relationship between our two countries:

“HB 87 substantially and inappropriately burdens the consistent country to country relations between Mexico and the United States of America,” Mexico says in its brief in support of halting the law, “interfering with the strategic diplomatic interests of the two countries and encouraging an imminent threat of state-sanctioned bias or discrimination.”

Well, who would want to interfere with the strategic interest of parasite and host?  Mexico is a failed state.  They need their colonist to send U.S. dollars back to their families.  It is one of the best revenue streams they have.  And these colonists get a free education, health care, and all available public services courtesy of the citizens of Georgia.  The only problem is, Georgians have had enough of these bloodsuckers, and want to put an end to it.

If the federal government had the same state-sanctioned bias or discrimination against illegal aliens like Georgia and Arizona, we wouldn’t have this invasion from the third world to begin with.

Celebrating a Monster: The Federal Reserve and Jekyll Island

This past weekend the Master’s of the United States of America journeyed to the birth place of a monster that was created on Jekyll Island, Georgia a hundred years ago. That monster is the Federal Reserve. Today’s bureaucrats celebrated the anniversary of this creation in the open, unlike their forbearers.

Bertie Charles Forbes, founder of Forbes Magazine, described secretive nature of this cabal:

Picture a party of the nation's greatest bankers stealing out of New York on a private railroad car under cover of darkness, stealthily riding hundred of miles South, embarking on a mysterious launch, sneaking onto an island deserted by all but a few servants, living there a full week under such rigid secrecy that the names of not one of them was once mentioned, lest the servants learn the identity and disclose to the world this strangest, most secret expedition in the history of American finance. I am not romancing; I am giving to the world, for the first time, the real story of how the famous Aldrich currency report, the foundation of our new currency system, was written... The utmost secrecy was enjoined upon all. The public must not glean a hint of what was to be done. Senator Aldrich notified each one to go quietly into a private car of which the railroad had received orders to draw up on an unfrequented platform. Off the party set. New York's ubiquitous reporters had been foiled... Nelson (Aldrich) had confided to Henry, Frank, Paul and Piatt that he was to keep them locked up at Jekyll Island, out of the rest of the world, until they had evolved and compiled a scientific currency system for the United States, the real birth of the present Federal Reserve System, the plan done on Jekyll Island in the conference with Paul, Frank and Henry... Warburg is the link that binds the Aldrich system and the present system together. He more than any one man has made the system possible as a working reality

After the panic of 1907, New York’s biggest bankers were wary of another financial crisis. They wanted an apparatus that would put a strangle hold on smaller banks and at the same time insulate them from the huge losses in a bust cycle; but more importantly, an entity that would give them – the big financial institutions – the run of the banking industry. The only way they could accomplish this was through the federal government. The people were wary of a national bank. We already had two others that failed miserably. No, the big bankers needed something more deceptive. They needed the appearance of a decentralized banking system; hence, The Federal Reserve.

So, the bureaucrats meet again at the place where the nation’s future was discussed in secret. And this conference is no different than the one a hundred years ago: invitation only.
