Federal Occupation Breeds Resentment

I’m not a fan of comprehensive histories.  They’re usually too broad in scope, prone to the author’s biases and rarely provide insight into regional aspects that pertains to the subject at hand.  The War of Northern Aggression and occupation is a perfect example of how history can be politicized and distorted.  The American Civil War is probably the most bastardized epoch in our relatively short existence.

Judkin Browning’s, Shifting Loyalties is a welcomed example of a microstudy that focuses on two eastern counties – Carteret and Craven –  in North Carolina that fell under Union occupation for most of the war.  Sympathizers to the Southern cause fled, except those who couldn’t afford to, and pro-unionist who welcomed the Yankee invaders.

Shifting Loyalties documents Southerners’ attitude towards a foreign military occupation, an invasion of Yankee do-gooders and thousands of contraband slaves that sought sanctuary behind Union lines.  By the end of the war, even pro-unionist resented their Yankee masters’ superiority complex and their meddlesome social engineering and when the Yankees finally left, collaborators would be ostracized or run out of town.

Today’s Americans can identify with certain aspects of a federal occupation.  Westerners are subjected to capricious bureaucrats who forsake personal property rights and laws for their version of the greater good which usually means what’s best for their agency.  This same kind of attitude happened in New Bern when soldiers stole, damaged property and assaulted citizens against direct orders with impunity.

We’ve witnessed standoffs by ranchers who have been seriously aggrieved by the Bureau of Land Management.  Our wannabe lords and masters should remember Federal occupation breeds resentment.  Representative Greg Walden addresses these abuses in the below video:

Mass Murderer Hunts Christians at Oregon Community College

The Democratic Party’s motto is ‘You never let a serious crisis go to waste.’  Barack Obama must have trampled over fifty people to get to a podium so he can denounce “guns” for the latest mass shooting.  His shameless politicization of the deaths of innocence and our Second Amendment rights is appalling and unbefitting the office of the president of the United States.  This man’s policies and rhetoric is antithetical to the American creed and ideal.

I don’t recall mass shootings in our schools prior to the 1990’s.  Columbine was the first of its kind.  Why is that?  Could it be it takes a village of progressives to nurture Godless, anti-Christian bigots with self-centered, nihilistic tendencies?

The New York Post reported this murderer was on a hunt for Christians, considering the current climate this shouldn’t be a surprise.

A woman who claimed to have a grandmother inside a writing class in Snyder Hall, where a portion the massacre unfolded, described the scene in a tweet.

“The shooter was lining people up and asking if they were Christian,” she wrote. “If they said yes, then they were shot in the head. If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs. My grandma just got to my house, and she was in the room. She wasn’t shot, but she is very upset.

The Twitter user then recalled how her grandmother attempted to save the life of one of her close classmates.

“She tried to perform CPR on her friend, but it was too late,” the woman said. “I hope nothing like this ever happens again.”

Kortney Moore, an 18-year-old student at Umpqua Community College who was also in the room, told Oregon’s News Review that the shooter was indeed on the hunt for Christians.

So the murderer was on the hunt for Christians.  Maybe Barack Obama and the whole damn Democratic Party should apologize to the American people and the victim’s families for nurturing an environment of anti-Christian bigotry and hate.

Oregon Bureaucrat Denies Christian Business Owners First Amendment Rights

The strange case of an overzealous politician and bureaucrat hunting down Christian business owners and denying them freedom of association and religion has morphed into a complete repudiation of the First Amendment.  A Christian couple was ordered by Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian to “cease and desist” from speaking or publishing their thoughts about the commissioner’s thuggery in driving them out of business because they didn’t want to participate in a gay wedding.

The Daily Signal reported the following:

“This effectively strips us of all our First Amendment rights,” the Kleins, owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, which has since closed, wrote on their Facebook page. “According to the state of Oregon we neither have freedom of religion or freedom of speech.”

The cease and desist came about after Aaron and Melissa Klein participated in an interview with Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins. During the interview, Aaron said among other things, “This fight is not over. We will continue to stand strong.”

Lawyers for plaintiffs, Rachel and Laurel Bowman-Cryer, argued that in making this statement, the Kleins violated an Oregon law banning people from acting on behalf of a place of public accommodation (in this case, the place would be the Kleins’ former bakery) to communicate anything to the effect that the place of public accommodation would discriminate.

“The Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor and Industries hereby orders [Aaron and Melissa Klein] to cease and desist from publishing, circulating, issuing or displaying, or causing to be published … any communication to the effect that any of the accommodations … will be refused, withheld from or denied to, or that any discrimination be made against, any person on account of their sexual orientation,” Avakian wrote.

Commissioner Brad Avakian is a typical government thug straight from old school USSR, and that is basically what Hans Von Spakovsky of the Heritage Foundation stated:

It is exactly this kind of oppressive persecution by government officials that led the pilgrims to America. And Commissioner Avakian’s order that the Kleins stop speaking about this case is even more outrageous—and also a fundamental violation of their right to free speech under the First Amendment.

Avakian would have fit right in as a bureaucrat in the Soviet Union or Red China. Oregon should be ashamed that such an unprincipled, scurrilous individual is a government official in the state.

If there is one thing we must learn, it's liberals have no shame.

Oregon Bureaucrats Collude with Gay Rights Group in Hunting Christians

Democrats engage in an astonishing amount of corruption.  The EPA grants money to environmental groups.  These activists then sue and settle with the EPA and behold, this federal agency has just expanded its power.  Unbelievable!

Progressives at the state level have taken notice.  Government bureaucrats are colluding with special interest groups in quid pro quo agreements.  Administrators and their employees will advance an agenda for an advocacy group, a liberal one, of course, while the latter provides political and financial support.

An Oregon baker has fallen prey to the machinations of corrupt public officials and their progressive thugs.  A lesbian couple went on a hunt for a Christian bakery hoping a business owner would refuse to participate in their gay wedding.  They found one and ran him out of business.  But that’s not the complete story.  A commissioner in the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries colluded with these lesbians in exchange for campaign donations and political support.

The Daily Signal reported on this whole sordid affair.  Here is an excerpt:

Communications between Bureau of Labor and Industries Commissioner Brad Avakian and Basic Rights Oregon, which has actively spoken out against the Kleins, raise questions about whether the commissioner and other agency employees were using the case to benefit a political agenda, and in the process, stripping the Kleins of their right to a fair trial.
According to emails, Avakian met with Basic Rights Oregon on multiple occasions.
One of those meetings was planned for May 1, 2014, shortly before a federal court struck down Oregon’s Defense of Marriage Act.

Another meeting between the commissioner and Basic Rights Oregon occurred on or around August 5, 2014. This fell between the time a judge denied the Kleins’ first attempt to disqualify the commissioner for bias and shortly before a hearing for the case was scheduled to begin
On or around Oct. 7, 2014, Avakian accepted a phone call from Jeana Frazzini, co-director of Basic Rights Oregon, according to another email.
On Dec. 2, 2014, a Basic Rights Oregon employee wrote of Avakian, “His voice is really important as a coalition partner, and a leader in Oregon politics.”
Emails also show Avakian purchasing tickets costing hundreds of dollars to attend Basic Rights Oregon’s annual fundraising galas and gay pride parades, while his agency’s case against the Kleins was underway.
In 2012, Basic Rights Oregon donated almost $8,000 to Avakian’s bid for commissioner

It gets even better!  The judge adjudicating this case was appointed by that agency’s commissioner:  Brad Avakian.  Surprise – surprise, that bureau’s judge refused the defendants request for an investigation into questionable ethics violations.

Oh, we can’t leave out the media!  This same government agency, along with its gay advocacy group, was communicating with the local newspaper editor.  They are all in cahoots!

Aren’t you happy that you don’t live in Oregon?

No "Public Accommodation" for Christian Business Owners

It’s become quite clear that if you’re a Christian and own a business, there is no public accommodation for you.  Freedom of religion, conscience and association no longer pertain to those who wish to practice their faith in the public square.  An Oregon business owner found out what it is like to be a Christian in  modern day America:

(CNSNews.com) – An administrative law judge in Oregon has ruled against Melissa Klein’s effort to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a lesbian couple after Klein declined to make their wedding cake because of her biblical belief that marriage is the sacred union of one man and one woman. A hearing in March will now determine what fines will be levied against Klein for “damages” suffered by the lesbians.

Attorneys for Klein, owner with her husband Aaron Klein of Sweet Cakes by Melissa in Gresham, Ore., had sought to have the case dismissed and to be awarded $200,000 in legal costs and damages.

But Judge Alan McCullough refused and instead issued an interim order ahead of the March hearing that says the Kleins had “unlawfully discriminated against the same-sex couple by denying them full and equal access to a place of public accommodation,” under the Oregon Equality Act, according to The Oregonian.

This judge is a progressive.  How do I know that?  Because he bastardized the law:

But Anna Harmon, one of three attorneys representing the Kleins, said in an email to The Oregonian that the judge’s ruling wrongly interpreted the state law, which she said protects “the right not to design and create a work of art celebrating an event which violates the tenets of [the Klein’s] religion.”

“This is a wrong and dangerous result for religious liberty and rights of conscience in Oregon,” Harmon said.

Progressives don’t care about that.  They want to force Christians out of business.  Soon the LGBT community will harass Christian bookstores into peddling gay porn and strap-on dildos in the name of “public accommodation.”

Beaverton, Oregon Celebrates Mexican Independence; Not American

Beaverton, Oregon is planning to celebrate the independence day of Mexico on September 16.  The cost to the taxpayers is $5000.00.

The city of Beaverton ask you to celebrate the bicentennial of Mexico’s independence with an evening of music, dancing and food in City Park (5th Street & Hall Blvd) on Thursday, September 16th from 6pm to 8:30pm. Come listen to Mariachi Viva Mexico, hear from guest speakers, including Mayor Denny Doyle, and enjoy a performance of a variety of native dances from regions across Mexico by Ballet Folklorico Sol Azteca.

“The city of Beaverton is fortunate enough to have one of the most diverse populations in the area and we’re excited to be a part of this cultural celebration,” said Mayor Doyle. “It’s an honor to recognize events like these that are so special to many members of this community.

The Mexican Consulate requested the city to sponsor and pay for their holiday; yet council members refuse to celebrate the 4th of July.  Radio show host, Lars Larson interviewed councilwoman Betty Bode:.

“We recognize American Independence Day,” she said.

“In what way?” Larson asked.

“Because we have our flags up.”

“You have your flag up? Did you even so much as pass a resolution on the Fourth of July?” Larson said.

“No, we didn’t,” Bode responded.

I seriously doubt that this bitch even owns an American flag.

What in the hell is going on this country?
