North Carolina Awarded "Run to the Top" Federal Government Bribe

North Carolina was awarded a $70 million federal government grant from the Department of Education’s “Run to the Top” program. The following reasons were given:

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said North Carolina had the top-ranked application among the 35 states, District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, which competed for $500 million in federal grant money. The competition is designed to reward states that are willing to push education reform.

"It was literally the best application we received from any state in the country," Duncan said.

Duncan said he called N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue Friday morning to congratulate her on "the remarkable achievement."

In awarding the money, the education department cited the state's Early Childhood Advisory Council, local Smart Start infrastructure, as well as plans to target rural, distressed counties with high needs.

This pre-kindergarten program is big farce and waste of taxpayer monies. Let’s face it: this program is nothing more than a glorified daycare center. Is it any wonder that we’re $15 trillion in debt with waste like this? What’s worse, the states have turned into a band of beggars, while the bureaucrats pick and choose the winners. Shouldn’t the taxpayers have a say as to how that money should be spent?

With the general election around the corner, one must consider the possibility of politics coloring the landscape. Here are the following states that also received taxpayer funded grant money: Massachusetts, Ohio, California, Washington, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Delaware, and Maryland.

Notice that not one red state received a grant. And out of the nine, four can be considered battleground states. We already know that Obama considers Ohio and North Carolina important for his re-election. Massachusetts will be in play if Mitt Romney wins the GOP nomination, and Minnesota republicans believe their state is fair game.

California received a grant for the following reasons:

California: This was the biggest loser among the winners. It wanted nearly $100 million (the cap the U.S. Department of Education set), but with only $500 million available and a 9th place finish, only $52 million was left for them. That's not a lot of money for a state with more than 6 million students. It's interesting that the Education Department chose not to shave a little off the other states' winnings to give California a bit more. But it's also interesting that the department gave them anything, and didn't use their $52 million to give everyone else a little more. Perhaps Education Secretary Arne Duncan wanted to send a little love California's way, especially after snatching back a data systems grant and ruling their effort to apply for a Race to the Top consolation prize inadequate. What's more, by giving California a Race to the Top grant, Duncan was able to make the claim—as he did during the White House announcement Friday—that Race to the Top money now reaches 60 percent of the nation's students and two-thirds of low-income students. Those figures would have been far less impressive had California not won.

As for the legitimacy of the other states, Delaware is Joe Biden territory, and the others who knows? But what is known, is Obama’s Chicago-style of politics, and that stench makes any government program suspect.

Rep. Paul Ryan Explains D.C. Math

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) explains that D.C. math so all can understand it. If this is the kind of crap that comes out of that swamp, we need to shut down the Department of Education right now before they contaminate the rest of the country.

John Holdren Wants to "Educate Us" on Global Warming

Obama’s science czar wants to “educate” us on our wrongheadedness on global warming, now called climate change:

“It is an education problem. I think we have to educate them,” said John Holdren, who heads the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, in an interview broadcast Sunday.

The Obama administration needs its propaganda arm, because the 112th Congress isn’t buying their pseudo science.

“We need better energy technology both to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, to improve the environment, including reducing our contribution to climate change, and to create the jobs in clean energy, the new products, the new businesses that will stay in America, while meeting our growing energy needs,” Holdren said.

He later added: “The president realizes that we need all the new energy sources we can get. We need energy sources that reduce our contribution to production of greenhouse gases that are altering the climate, we need those new energy sources to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and we need them to stay competitive in a global market.”

I wonder what techniques they will use to re-educate us. They've targeted the children and put them in camps known as public schools. Cass Sustein may have to do the same with us recalcitrants. You know, give us a little push:

Our betters want us to be like the ox and have no thought. The government will provide everything. We must honor the children whose minds are not corrected by the past. Now is year zero and everything is to start anew.

U. S. Dept. of Education Turning Today's Youth into Tomorrow's World Citizens

Ever since the Department of Education was created the various bureaucrats and politicians, both republican and democrat, have conferred more power to this cabinet level agency. The consequence is less say at the local level and more indoctrination by powerful interest groups. That indoctrination is becoming subversive to the national interest, and more deferential to a globalist construct.

Barack Obama and his Marxist allies are trying to steer America’s children away from nationalism. They want today’s youth to become tomorrow’s world citizens. The environmental movement is the vehicle that will fundamentally change America, and the classroom is the pod that will mold impressionable minds.

U.S. Secretary Arne Duncan promised that he will turn your children into responsible environmentalist. He plans on starting his green agenda in the kindergarten funded by your confiscated tax dollars:

“Right now, in the second decade of the 21st century, preparing our children to be good environmental citizens is some of the most important work any of us can do. It’s work that will serve future generations--and quite literally sustain our world,” Duncan said at the Education Department’s "Sustainability Education Summit: Citizenship and Pathways for a Green Economy."

“This week’s sustainability summit represents the first time that the Department is taking a leadership role in the work of educating the next generation of green citizens and preparing them to contribute to the workforce through green jobs,” said Duncan. “President Obama has made clean, renewable energy a priority because, as he says, it’s the best way to 'truly transform our economy, to protect our security, and save our planet.'

“Educators have a central role in this. A well educated citizen knows that we must not act in this generation in ways that endanger the next,” said Duncan. “They teach students about how the climate is changing. They explain the science behind climate change and how we can change our daily practices to help save the planet. They have a role in preparing students for jobs in the green economy.”

“Historically," Duncan said, "the Department of Education hasn’t been doing enough to drive the sustainability movement, and today, I promise that we will be a committed partner in the national effort to build a more environmentally literate and responsible society."

"I want my department to help advance the sustainability movement through education," he said

I think we all have to ask ourselves if today’s students are being well served by a far- away, top down agency who is more interested in spreading a debunked theory through the indoctrination of your children; or are we better off with parents and the local community deciding what is the best education for their students. Considering the ambitions of these power hungry bureaucrats, I would say the latter.

Arizona Under Siege by Fascist Feds

Ever since Arizona passed SB 1070, they’ve been under attack by the fascist in the federal government. The latest assault is from the U.S. Department of Education. The agency has concluded that the children of illegal aliens are being discriminated against, in violation of Title VI. The ending result is the loss of federal funds:

One of the complaints alleges that the Arizona Department of Education has reclassified "many thousands" of children as proficient in English even though tests indicate they aren't. The U.S. Departments of Education and Justice concluded this deprives students of services they need to succeed.

So, Arizona is depriving ILLEGALS who can’t speak English, the proper tools to further break our laws and leech off of the state, This is an affront not only to the citizens of Arizona, but the country in general.

The Obama administration and the oprichniki in the various government agencies are running roughshod over American citizens, and they’re using our tax dollars to do it. It’s bad enough that this punk- in-chief files a human rights violation against a sister state; he is now blackmailing them with their own money.

Abraham Lincoln’s maxim: A government of the people, by the people, and for the people; is now a government of the political class, by the political class, and for the political class. We no longer have a constitutional republic. We are now governed by judicial decrees, government bureaucrats, and gerrymandered politicians.
