Vandal Under Consideration for N.C. University Scholarship

If you have any doubts that we have a problem with teachers in higher education, you don’t have to look any further than North Carolina.  The student who vandalized a statue is under consideration for a scholarship at North Carolina Central University.  Here is an excerpt from the Daily Caller:

The Chronicle of Higher Education reported on Wednesday that proposals are being made at the college to award Takiyah Thompson, who has been charged with two felonies—participation in a riot and inciting others to riot—for her actions.

News that Thompson was involved in the demonstration was reportedly met with widespread support from campus faculty and students in her Introduction to Political Science class.

“I saw the demonstration and the toppling of the monument. I think it’s a healthy thing for students to have a voice and to be leaders in activism,” said Jim C. Harper II, chair of the history department. “We’re going to do everything we can to support Ms. Thompson.”

This punk did more than voice her activism.  She destroyed property that didn’t belong to her.  It’s hard to believe a grown adult, a history professor at that, would condone the destruction of a monument.  An educator has a responsibility to groom young people into becoming responsible citizens.  James C Harper II has failed in this respect.

I believe its time state legislatures review the type of people we have in our university systems.  It’s quite obvious we are lacking decent and honorable educators and this latest outrage is just the tip of the iceberg.

North Carolina Teachers Have it Better Than They Think

If you live in North Carolina, chances are you’ve heard the hue and cry about how impoverished our teachers are.  According to every libtard organization that infest this state, educators are practically spit on and kicked around.  Here is a local rag outlining their abuse.

Pay for the teachers who educate the state's roughly 1.5 million public school students ranks 46th in the country, above only Mississippi and West Virginia among 12 Southeastern states, the report said. Five years ago, North Carolina teacher salaries were in the middle of the state rankings.

One out of nine teachers earn the lowest base salary of $30,800 because there are few meaningful raises until the fifth year on the job, the report said. The North Carolina average teacher salary of $45,933 last year was nearly $10,000 less than the national average, according to the National Education Association.

That sounds pretty bad doesn’t it?  But it’s not, considering the median income for a family of four in North Carolina is $45,150.  So actually, experienced teachers make little more than the average Tar Heel family.  And as far as base salary, hey, everyone has to learn their trade.

As for that 46th ranking in the country, the median household income in the U.S. is $51,371.  Now let’s take a look at the map below.  Here is what $100 is worth in each state.  It seems to me teachers in North Carolina are squawking about nothing.  But what do you expect from a democratic constituency.

Educators Are the New Millionaires?

In his weekly address, Barack Obama lamented the high cost of education. I wonder if he would be shocked to find out that today’s new millionaires are educators:

According to a report released last week by the Spectrem Group's Millionaire Corner, the number of millionaire households in the U.S. rose 2% last year to 8.2 million. And capturing the greatest number of millionaire households were ones that included a manager as a breadwinner.

But while managers are tops on the list, accounting for 17% of households with $1 million to $5 million in net assets excluding their primary residence, educators are close behind with 12% of the millionaire pie, according to the report.

That's right -- educators.

What gives these occupations their relatively large slice is that many are living in dual-income households, says George Walper, president of the Spectrum Group.

Compare that to other high-paying jobs such as attorneys, doctors, or dentists, which only account for 2% of the millionaire pool. People in those ultra-demanding occupations are often the sole breadwinners in their families, with spouses or partners holding down the fort at home. And when it's time to retire, the payout may be less.

Let’s just hope that dual-incomes are the reason for educators being ranked as the new millionaires. Public service is a calling; it shouldn’t be a profit center.

Teacher Equates Enforcement of Immigration Laws to Nazism

Is it any wonder that young people don’t value citizenship when we have teachers like this guy? The love of God, family, and country have been abolished from our public schools. Perversity, dissention, and a general self-loathing are the new norms in the classroom.

The aforementioned teacher likened the enforcement of law to Nazism. He believes that illegal aliens have just as much right to taxpayer largess as citizens, and therefore will not help rid his community of this invading scourge. Being an informant is to besmirch his integrity. Well, I wonder if he has the same standards when it comes to religion and free speech.

Just recently, a child was suspended for vocally opposing homosexuality in a private conversation with a classmate. A teacher overheard him and had that student suspended. When children read Bibles on their lunch break or wear crosses around their necks; teachers don’t have a problem informing and suspending them on the false premise of separation of church and state. It seems to me that teachers are well practiced in that art of snitching.

No, educators like this guy don’t have a problem being an informant. What they have a problem with is being an American.
