Democrats Have Destroyed Journalistic Integrity

When I was a kid, I believed journalists were unbiased agents for the truth.  It didn’t take long to disabuse myself of these naive notions.  Back in the day,  they tried to mask their socialist proclivities; now they’re in our face.

Progressives have taken over the media and now that industry is going to pay a price for defiling the First Amendment.   Camille Paglia, a professor of journalism, is outraged at what Democrats have done to a great American institution.

“It’s obscene,” she said. “It’s outrageous, OK? It shows that the Democrats are nothing now but words and fantasy and hallucination and Hollywood. There’s no journalism left. What’s happened to The New York Times? What’s happened to the major networks? It’s an outrage.”

“I’m a professor of media studies, in addition to a professor of humanities, OK?” she continued. “And I think it’s absolutely grotesque the way my party has destroyed journalism. Right now, it is going to take decades to recover from this atrocity that’s going on where the news media have turned themselves over to the most childish fraternity, kind of buffoonish behavior.”

The Death of Journalism in an Age of Aggressive Liberalism

The lamentations of a bygone era when journalism was an objective and respected profession have reached its zenith in an age of aggressive liberalism.  You can’t help get soaked by crocodile tears bubbling up from the editorial pages in both national and local newspapers.  Leftist pundits are wondering if we, as a people, are capable of a dialogue.  The answer is no.

Leonard Pitts, Jr. opined on the right vs. left schism in the United States.  If his op-ed was an attempt at starting a dialogue, it sure as hell missed the mark.  Here is an excerpt:

That’s one example: There are others. But instead of calling out biases in the mainstream media structure or simply creating a parallel media structure to tell their side of the story as women, African-Americans, LGBTQ people and other marginalized communities have done, conservatives sought instead to raze mainstream media to the ground.

Sykes, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and others advanced a narrative in which no institution or authoritative source — not statistics, not science, not history, not polls, not CBS, CNN, The Miami Herald, or The New York Times — is legitimate if it contradicts conservative orthodoxy or simply questions the latest harebrained conspiracy theory.

The result has been nothing less than the unraveling of the American mind. We have become a nation of junk history, junk science, junk fact, junk logic, junk thought, a nation where not knowing things is no longer a bar to high office and may even be an advantage, a nation where it is necessary to debate whether a birth certificate is really a birth certificate and Donald Trump followers think the election will be “rigged.”

First of all, we have been calling out the biases of the mainstream media for decades.  Second, conservatives have created an alternative media.  I’m surprised Mr. Pitts is unaware of it.  Third, we are razing the mainstream media to ground.  But I assure you, it wasn’t us who lit the match.  And finally, the sources Mr. Pitts cited are no longer an authoritative source, or a respected institution.  Progressives saw to that.

Mr. Pitts is right in one sense: A generation of Americans have come of age in ignorance, intransigence, and incoherence as their daily norm.  I call that the Age of Obama.  Be sure to check your underwear before entering a public bathroom.

How About a Fairness Doctrine for Our Public Universities?

A couple of years ago, I referred to the Charlotte area as a talk radio desert.  There was only one station that had any semblance of a conservative format and that was 1110 WBT.  I could not wait for the 12:00 time slot, which of course, is when Rush Limbaugh comes on.  And believe me, it is the fastest three hours in talk radio because to state it quite frankly, the local talent sucks.

Every once in a while, depending on the topic, I would listen to Diane Rehm on NPR.  Her show is usually filled with a bunch of libtards spewing liberal propaganda.  However, I can say that she is better than silence.

Recently, other stations have popped up in the market, notably 1660 AM and 94.5 FM which hails from South Carolina.  Lately, I’ve resorted to downloading some shows that are not available during work hours or conflicts with Rush such as Mark Levin and Laura Ingraham.

The reason I’m bringing this topic up is because the Charlotte Observer published an op-ed by a professor at the UNC School of Media and Journalism.  Mr. Jim Hefner believes the Fairness Doctrine should be reinstated and that republicans should get behind this effort to silence the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck.  Did I mention this should be done in the name of fairness?

His argument is the public airwaves shouldn’t be filled with a bunch of right-wing blowhards who have divided this country and the Republican Party.  Mr. Hefner is under the impression that white males are somehow constrained and force fed propaganda.  He refuses to believe that there is a market for conservatives with a dissenting point of view.

This so-called professor is outraged that conservatives have taken over the public airwaves.  After all he, I mean the public, owns it.  Why should Rush Limbaugh and a coterie of conservatives make millions of dollars off of his airwaves?  How dare they!

Well, Professor Hefner, I have a gripe too.  Why isn’t there a Fairness Doctrine in our university system?  Shouldn’t our public schools have a balanced education for young, impressionable students who are being spoon fed a dose of your lies and stupidity on a daily basis?  Unlike the public airwaves, students are forced to sit in your indoctrination classes at an exorbitant cost.  Listeners can turn off the radio.  Students have to endure your bullshit in order to obtain a degree.  How is that fair?

So I say North Carolinians should demand a Fairness Doctrine in our public school systems.  After all, a mind is a terrible thing to corrupt!

Bob Schieffer Laments Death of Colander Journalism

Bob Schieffer, host of Face of the Nation, is retiring from CBS after decades of massaging the backs of democrats and propagating their political ideology to millions of trusting Americans.

Mr. Schieffer reminisced about the era of colander journalism and lamented the death throes of thought conformity.

“We now don’t know where people get their news, but what we do know is they’re bombarded with information 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Most of the information is wrong and some of it is wrong on purpose,” Schieffer said. “It is our job, I think, in mainstream journalism to try to cut through this mall of information and tell people what we think is relevant in what they need to know. That is the job of the journalist and I have to say it’s harder and harder.”

Since when did journalism become dog whistle for public relations for the Democratic Party?

Mr. Schieffer is absolutely shameless, and without a doubt not the sharpest pencil in the drawer, too.  He is absolutely stunned at the amount of money that is pervasive in politics.

“I mean our campaigns have become, ‘I have more billionaires than you do so I’m a viable candidate.’ I don’t think that’s what the founders had in mind when they started this country,” he told “CBS This Morning.” “I don’t know where this goes, but I think something is going to have to change on that front because what we have now is people have to sign up with so many special interests before they get to Washington, that once they’re here they can’t compromise. And when you have a government and a legislative body that can’t compromise, you have what we have — a legislative body that’s in constant and total gridlock.”

Schieffer echoed similar comments during an interview with The Associated Press earlier this week, saying he’s disturbed by the changes he’s seen in Washington. It’s a meaner place, he said, partially fueled by Internet anonymity but also by a lack of collegiality. Lawmakers of all stripes and their families used to know each other better but now spend more time in their districts and less time in the capital. Some families never move.

I can tell you where this is going.  It’s called totalitarianism.  That’s what happens when a central government consolidates power.  And this yahoo is surprised at the amount of money in politics?  The richest suburbs in the nation are in Washington D.C., and he’s surprised at the amount awash in that town?

Mr. Schieffer and his ilk can’t even comprehend the fact that gridlock is exactly what our founding fathers wanted.  That was their intent.  The Bill of Rights was designed to check the federal government; not the states and their citizens.  But these statists have corrupted our founding principles as well.

Enjoy your retirement, Mr. Schieffer.  Don’t worry, I’m sure Face the Nation will continue to be a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party.

ISIS Beheads Journalist James Foley

American photojournalist, James Foley, was beheaded by ISIS.  Cruelty is a staple in jihad.  No one should be under the delusion that Islam is a peaceful religion.  Bare Naked Islam has the disturbing pictures along with videos.

CNN  In the video posted Tuesday on YouTube, Foley is seen kneeling next to a man dressed in black. He reads a message, presumably scripted by his captors, that his “real killer” is America. “I wish I had more time. I wish I could have the hope for freedom to see my family once again,” Foley can be heard saying in the video. He is then shown being beheaded. The National Security Council is aware of the video.

“The intelligence community is working as quickly as possible to determine its authenticity. If genuine, we are appalled by the brutal murder of an innocent American journalist and we express our deepest condolences to his family and friends. We will provide more information when it is available,” NSC spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden said.

Charlotte Observer Cartoonist Wins Progressive Puppy Mill Award

A couple of weeks ago, the Charlotte Observer published an editorial entitled, The importance of a courageous press.  Obviously, I laughed out loud.  The Disturber is courageous?  This leftwing rag is a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party.  How courageous can one be when the majority of its articles are republished screeds from other liberal newspapers?

We mustn’t be too hard on Taylor Batten.  After all, he accompanied his cartoonist to the progressive puppy mill of journalism, Columbia University.  Mr. Kevin Siers received a Pulitzer Prize for his activist work demeaning conservatives.  If you haven’t had the displeasure of reading this fish wrap, Christmas is his favorite holiday.  You can always count on a republican portrayed as Scrooge or the Grinch.  How original!  What a talent!  I’m sure no other libtard with a crayon has drawn one of these time honored clichés.  But hey, progressives honor and celebrate other progressives at award ceremonies like the Pulitzer Prize.

Here is an excerpt of Mr. Taylor Batten’s exuberance:

Joseph Pulitzer well understood how essential a free and vigorous press was to America.

His thoughts on the subject are enshrined on a plaque at the Columbia University journalism school in New York, which was founded with his bequest in 1912.

Journalists and all Americans would do well to examine them closely:

“Our republic and its press will rise or fall together. An able, disinterested, public-spirited press, with trained intelligence to know the right and courage to do it, can preserve that public virtue without which popular government is a sham and a mockery. A cynical, mercenary, demagogic press will produce in time a people as base as itself. The power to mould the future of the republic will be in the hands of the journalists of future generations.”

As I stood before that plaque last week, its words struck me as especially relevant in 2014. Our republic and its press are rising and falling together, and each institution needs to recommit itself to Pulitzer’s vision. Due to technology and mankind’s penchant to always find a way to make a buck, the press has splintered in recent years. Today the American media landscape includes more cynical, mercenary and demagogic elements than it has in a very long time. As Pulitzer predicted, that is creating a people as base as itself, and threatening to make popular government a sham.

First of all, Joseph Pulitzer was a yellow journalist hack.  He had to create a prize as a means to obfuscate his cynical, mercenary and demagogic past.  And as usual, Mr. Batten is the first to cast stones.  Maybe the Disturber’s editor should look in the mirror and reflect on what an able, disinterested, public-spirited press with trained intelligence can be, because the Charlotte Observer has made a mockery of public virtue and popular government.

News and Observer Tries to Link Art Pope to NC Rural Center

If you’re a conservative politician, you’d better make sure your business dealings are squeaky clean, because liberal journalists are on the hunt for anything that could taint your reputation.  The latest scandal to hit North Carolina is the slush fund known as the NC Rural Economic Development Center.  Politicians from both sides of the aisle have benefitted from this agency, but what is despicable, is how the News and Observer targeted Art Pope, whom is a noted conservative and budget director for Gov. Pat McCrory.

Officially, the nonprofit N.C. Rural Economic Development Center awards “job generating” grants, funded by state taxpayers, to nondescript government agencies. The city of Rocky Mount. Montgomery County. The town of Indian Trail.

From the center’s files, other stories emerge: Legislators influencing where the money goes. People and businesses from across the political landscape getting in on the deals. Political money men benefiting from taxpayer cash, spent with little notice or scrutiny.

One of the biggest names: Discount store business Variety Wholesalers, whose CEO, Art Pope, is a well-known supporter of nonprofit groups that criticize taxpayer subsidies for businesses. A former Republican legislator, he’s now Gov. Pat McCrory’s budget director.

Now after reading that, you would have come to the conclusion that Mr. Pope is a hypocrite, swindling the taxpayers for his own business.  You have to go all the way down the article in order to find out what actually happened.

Money helps Pope’s business

The grant is listed as going to the city of Rocky Mount. It was awarded Oct. 15 last year in the amount of $200,000.

It was crucial to Walt Crayton Jr., a developer from New Bern who wanted to rehab a vacant shopping center on the eastern side of the city’s downtown.

Crayton is using the grant money to improve the building so Pope’s company can put in a new Roses discount store and grocery. City officials sponsored the grant – local government involvement is required – and contributed $10,000. Officials there say a grocery is badly needed.

Crayton said he couldn’t make the numbers work without the taxpayer assistance through the Rural Center. The Roses is set to open this summer, and there is a 15-year lease. Last week, dozens of people lined up to apply for jobs.

Crayton said that Pope’s business, Variety Wholesalers, didn’t get a special discount on its lease with him because of the grant funding. He said Variety essentially set its lease terms, and he had to figure out the rest of the deal. The public money allowed it to proceed, bridging a gap in financing on the $1.2 million project, he said.

In several interviews this month, Pope said he did not think the Rural Center grant had any effect on the lease terms – and he suggested his company did not know about the Rural Center’s aid as the deal came together.

“There was no knowledge and no involvement of how the work was done on that (shopping) center owned by the developer and where his source of funding came from,” Pope said.

Records and interviews show otherwise, and Pope later said he was mistaken.

Documents show that on Aug. 15, 2012, the chief operating officer at Variety Wholesalers, C. Wilson Sawyer, wrote a “job commitment” letter to the developer that said the store would hire at least 25 full-time employees. Of those, 22 were cashiers or associates to be paid about $14,000 a year.

Sawyer wrote in the letter that a condition of Variety Wholesalers’ lease was that the developer would be able to obtain a grant for the site.

Crayton said in an interview that he did not deal with Pope on the Rocky Mount project but said the company “absolutely” knew the grant was coming from the Rural Center. Other company documents and emails support that.

Pope emphasized that, while the company has committed to the jobs, the grant did not benefit his company directly and had nothing to do with what his company is paying for the lease. He acknowledged his company at least “indirectly” benefited from the grant.

“To the extent that public funds are involved, and often are involved, does that make it more affordable for the developer/landlord, for the rent for the retailer or the industrial facility?” he said. “In the case of retail, does it make it more able to even locate there? And offer our goods at lower prices to the customers in the community and provide jobs? Yes. That happens. But there was no negotiation along those lines, at least in our case.”

Pope said he supports making cuts to the Rural Center’s funding. He said there is “very high unemployment” in rural counties and new approaches might work better.

In January, the Rural Center produced a report for legislators on the employment impact of its grants. The 25 jobs soon to come at the Roses were included.

Pope said his business, not the Rural Center, is creating the jobs.

“They like to claim credit for everything,” Pope said. “They like to build up IOUs because, ‘We helped you.’ In this particular case, I’d say it was Variety Wholesalers who creates the jobs when we open the stores and sell products at a good price and the customers want to shop there and it, in turn, allows us to pay our employees and pay our rent. That’s what creates the jobs. Not a grant.”

This fund has been around for over 25 years.  Now that republicans what to slash its budget, the knives are coming out to taint their reputations.  I ask where all this scrutiny was 19 years ago; nay, 5 years ago.  Only the libtards that run these papers can answer that.

Obama's Illegal Alien Uncle Busted For DUI

Obama’s justice department won a minor victory today. A federal judge temporarily blocked an Alabama immigration law until September 29th or until the court makes a ruling. This is the second state law that the Obama thugs have tried to shut down. And one must wonder why.

Last week it was discovered that the Anointed One has another illegal alien family member residing in the country. Uncle Onyango was busted for DUI and reckless driving on Wednesday:

A number of media outlets have already reported that an illegal immigrant from Kenya by the name of Onyango Obama, 67, was arrested last week on Wednesday after he nearly rammed his SUV into a police car in Framingham, Massachusetts.

He was later charged with DUI among other violations. I spoke to Framingham Public Information Officer Lieutenant Delaney who told me that when Onyango Obama was asked at booking if he wanted to make a telephone call to arrange for bail, the Kenyan immigrant replied: "I think I will call the White House."

It should be noted that the Times of London, highlighted an Onyango Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign, when the British daily found President Barack Obama's “Aunt Zeituni” living in Boston illegally.

A number of news outlets have reported on this story? Who in the hell are they? The only story reported on in these past few days is the little tropical storm that wanted to be a hurricane. They should have named this storm Eilene. Because it was just about as lame as the song:
