As we begin to celebrate the anniversary of our Declaration of Independence, a congressman from Illinois pines for the day that we return to a monarchy. Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D) has once again demanded that Barack Obama use the office of the presidency to issue a blanket amnesty for the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens who have invaded our country.
Of course, it is Congress that has the authority under the Constitution to set the rules for naturalization, but that document doesn’t seem to matter anymore. As a matter of fact, it seems that our elected officials have the same mentality as Mr. Luis Gutierrez. And if we keep going down this road of an authoritative state, we will soon be making another Declaration of Independence; one from the abuses of an out of control federal government.
