I’m beginning to believe President Trump is a “stable genius” particularly when it comes to the economy. Sure, some things are obvious such as reducing taxes and getting rid of burdensome regulations to propel growth; any reasonable person can deduce these two factors as an impediment to prosperity, but to target specific tariffs to induce foreign competitors to relocate their manufactures to the United States is genius. Here is an excerpt from the Daily Wire:
Just one week after the Trump administration announced a massive 30% tariff on imported solar panels, one of China's largest solar panel manufacturers announced plans to open a manufacturing plant in the United States.
The company, JinkoSolar, said on Monday that they have received the green light from their board of directors to "finalize planning for the construction of an advanced solar manufacturing facility in the U.S." CNN Money reports:
The statement suggested Jinko's decision was tied to the new tariffs, saying that the company "continues to closely monitor treatment of imports of solar cells and modules under the U.S. trade laws."
When Donald Trump proposed raising tariffs during his campaign, I had visions of Smoot-Hawley which was a disaster for this country. However, that law was protectionist and broad in scope, and didn’t distinguish fair trade from unfair trade. We are seeing the benefits of targeted tariffs.
I don’t know about everybody else, but I’m beginning to believe. It would be a shame if the American people got tired of all this winning and voted for Democrats in the midterms.
