While the rest of the country is glad to have a job in this uncertain economy, there is one group of workers who’re raking in the cash:
DETROIT (AP) -- The United Auto Workers union won $5,000 signing bonuses and the possibility of sweeter profit-sharing checks as part of a new four-year contract with General Motors Co., two people briefed on the talks said Saturday.
The deal, which was reached late Friday, also includes a $2- to $3-per-hour pay raise for entry-level workers over the life of the contract and guarantees more union jobs, the people said.
Now mind you, entry level jobs start at $14 - $16 per hour. And to add insult to injury General Motors still owes the American taxpayer for the $49.5 billion bailout from two years ago. These bastards remind me of the “friend” who borrows money and instead of paying you back; they buy a brand new flat screen television, and then proudly shows it off right in front of your face.
But what can you expect, when the CEO of General Motors is a handpicked toady by Obama’s “Car Czar”. Negotiations can be a little lopsided when the fox is in the hen house.
