Wisconsin: A Beacon of Light in a Henry VII/Carter-esque Age

Our national malaise continues under a Democratic president and Senate.  We are on the precipice of an authoritarian government.  It seems the Oval Office has devolved into a Star Chamber and our elected representatives are unable to stop a man who professes to have a phone and a pen, and is willing to use it.  Can anyone say, Hugo Chavez?

Despite the totalitarian policies of Barack Obama and the Democratic Party, there is one state, a blue state that has defied the odds of economic stagnation.  That state is Wisconsin.  Here is an excerpt from Governor Scott Walker’s state of the state address:

During my predecessor’s last term, Wisconsin lost more than 133,000 jobs and lost more than 27,000 businesses.  In 2009, the unemployment rate peaked at 9.2%.
During that same year, Wisconsin’s ranking in Chief Executive Magazine’s best and worst states for business was 43rd.  In 2009, a survey of employers by the chamber of commerce showed just 4% thought our state was heading in the right direction.  Now, our ranking is up to 17th—one of the fastest jumps of any state in the country.  As of last month, 95% of the employers surveyed said Wisconsin is headed in the right direction.   That’s right, ninety-five percent.

Another reason for our positive revenue numbers is our prudent fiscal management.  Three years ago, we inherited a state government with a $3.6 billion budget deficit.  The state had past due bills to Minnesota, owed more than $200 million to the patient compensation fund, and raided $1 billion from the segregated transportation fund.  At the same time, they only had $1.7 million in the rainy day fund.

Sure, we had to make some tough decisions, but they paid off.  We ended our fiscal year in 2013 with a $759 million surplus; we paid back Minnesota, filled the fund to help injured patients of medical malpractice, and restored funding for transportation.  And the rainy day fund, well, it’s now 165 times bigger than it was when we took office.

Congratulations to Governor Walker, the republican legislature and the citizens of Wisconsin.  You are a beacon of light in a Henry VII/Carter-esque age.

Wisconsin Recall: Beer, Brats and Schadenfreude

Hey Democrats, you want a little humility with that dog?

Wisconsin Recall: It's All Over But The Crying

What a bunch of sore losers. Gov. Scott Walker overwhelmingly defeated his opponent and the Democrats are still throwing their ass. Never before have I witnessed grown adults throw a childish tantrum like the Democrats. There must be a Depends underwear shortage in the state of Wisconsin.

I rarely watch MSNBC. But I just had to cross over the tracks into the seedy side of town; pull up a barstool and watch the clown show. Their euphoria turned into horror as the results poured in. It took less than an hour, and the recall was proclaimed a failure.

Of course, according to people like Ed Schultz, special interest money was the deciding factor in this election. If it weren’t for the Koch brothers, the recall would have been successful. That’s how people like Ed Schultz look upon the citizenry. They believe we're too damn stupid to figure things out for ourselves; hence, the great nanny state.

Wisconsin Judges Violate Ethics Code; Call for Recall of Gov. Scott Walker

Wisconsin has a strong tradition of progressive politics. So much so, that these irresponsible brats almost bankrupted the state. It took a band of grownups to set the ship aright. Governor Scott Walker and his republican majority in the General Assembly had the courage to confront the teat squawkers whose insatiable appetite almost killed the cow. The public sector unions were bleeding the state dry.

The nation watched the antics of these adolescent cry babies. These socialist converged on the state capitol. They trashed it; defiled it. The damage cost the taxpayers of Wisconsin millions of dollars. And where were the Democrats? Their senators fled to Illinois in order to prevent a quorum. What a manly thing to do.

So, when the republicans were finally able to pass a law curbing the power of the unions, what did the democrats do? They found a judge who was commiserate with the unions and struck it down. But Governor Scott Walker and his stalwart republicans prevailed.

The socialist wouldn’t be denied. They tried to recall senate republicans and failed. But the saga isn’t over. Now, the scum are trying to recall Governor Scott Walker. And as can be expected, they found judges who are sympathetic to their cause:

Among the thousands of people who signed petitions to trigger a recall election of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker are 29 judges from 16 counties in the state.

The total represents 12 percent of the state's approximately 250 county-level judges, according to a Gannett Wisconsin Media
analysis. None of the state's 16 appeals court judges or seven Supreme Court justices signed the petitions.

Wisconsin's Code of Judicial Conduct says that
judges cannot participate in activities of a political party or candidate and should "avoid the appearance of impropriety."

As Jim Alexander, executive director of the Wisconsin Judicial Commission told the Associated Press, however, the code does not specifically address recall petitions.

Monroe County Judge J. David Rice said he called Alexander before signing the petition and he had raised no objections.

"He said in his opinion that didn't violate the judicial ethics, so I relied on that in signing," Rice said.

"I concluded that by signing a recall petition I wasn't advocating for a particular party;
I was advocating for the recall process, which I thought was completely separate and apart," said Brown County Judge Mark Warpinski, who also signed the document.

What a load of crap! Ethics are as meaningless to a progressive as teats are on a boar hog. I wonder if it’s possible to recall a bunch of shameless judges. The citizens of Wisconsin cleaned house in their state capitol; it looks like they need to do the same at the bench.

Wisconsin Leaps 17 Spots for Best State to do Business In

Wisconsin has leaped 17 spots as one of the best states to do business in.  Governor Walker and the Republican controlled legislature stood firm against the vociferous socialist that trashed the capitol building and threatened their lives.  Now, businesses are moving to a state that has proven financial restraint and rid itself of burdensome regulations.  What a turn around.

That formula would work at the federal level as well.  Democrats are constantly bashing companies for relocating overseas.  They claim that they are unpatriotic for leaving the U.S.A...  Well, maybe those companies would come back if they followed the example of Governor Scott Walker and Wisconsin’s stalwart Republican legislators.

Wisconsin State Senator Issues Ransom Note

In what is becoming reminiscent of a hostage taking, a Wisconsin Democratic state senator has issued the equivalent of a ransom note to newly elected Governor Scott Walker. Mark Miller and his confederate refugees are scattered and holed up in motels across state lines. The Daily Caller reports their list of demands:

“We demand that the provisions that completely eliminate the ability of workers… to negotiate on a fair basis with their employers be removed from the budget repair bill and any other future budget,” Miller said.

He also demanded legislative oversight on changes to the state’s medical programs, which are targeted for changes in the bill. The bill would also require union members to contribute to their health care and pensions

God forbid that they have to contribute to their health care and pension plans like regular Americans. No, this privileged class is entitled to the sweat and toil of the serfs who work every day just to keep their public employee masters in luxurious comfort; free of the vicissitudes of a competitive market.

Asked by a CNN reporter why he and the Democrats weren’t doing their jobs, he countered by saying Walker had moved the bill too fast.

“We will return to do our job, but the governor has to do his job,” Miller said. “He has to engage in responsible negotiations with the interested parties and he failed to do so…We need to be able to enter into a responsible dialogue and not one that is such a sham.”

Asked about the deficit the state is facing, Miller said Walker is ignoring the economy’s recovery, which makes reigning in union benefits unnecessary.

“The economy’s recovering and the governor is completely ignoring the fact that we have a… recovery going,” Miller said. “The only thing that hasn’t recovered has been the rate of unemployment.”

Miller maintained that, by leaving Madison to evade a vote on the budget-repair bill, the lawmakers are “trying to allow an opportunity for democracy to work.”

Wisconsin’s democrats have shown who the true masters are in the state; and it sure as hell isn’t the regular hard working people who have to provide for their own retirement and health care.
