What do Libertarians Stand For?

I’m trying to figure out the Libertarian Party’s platform.  The common thread that seems to hold these people together is legalization of drugs, economic freedom and a general contempt for Christianity.  I might add that I’m not sure what kind of economic freedom they advocate when their presidential nominee is sympathetic to Bernie Sanders.  I’m getting mixed signals.

The one thing that really bothers me about Libertarians is their disregard for federalism.  They seem to have contempt for our Constitution when it conflicts with their world view.  Libertarians say they’re for limited government, but they sure as hell are not adverse to judicial activism when it suits their purpose.

Another view that sticks in my craw is their contempt for religious liberty.  Libertarians want to force Christians into violating their conscience.  The most obvious is this whole gay marriage nonsense.  Somehow, Libertarians believe the First Amendment right of freedom of religion doesn’t apply to Christian business owners.

Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party’s nominee, doesn’t seem to comprehend the purpose of the 14^th Amendment or the Civil Rights Act of 1964 & 65.  These laws were enacted to protect blacks from institutionalized discrimination.   States implemented black codes, segregation and stringent preconditions for voter registration which rendered second class status upon these citizens.  These measures were necessary to ensure equal protection under the law.  No where do these laws force people to violate their First Amendment rights.

If Libertarians were true advocates of economic freedom, they wouldn’t force business owners to violate their religious beliefs.  Instead, they should allow these entrepreneurs to succeed or fail based on their business model even if it’s offensive to the most “tolerant” amongst us.

Mob Boss Provides Islamist a Blueprint for Muzzling FBI

The sixties and early seventies was a high water mark for the civil rights movement in the United States.  Leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Medger Evers paid the ultimate price for equal rights and protection under the law.  This was, and continues to be, a noble cause.  However, there are always shysters who will try to exploit decency for dubious and nefarious purposes.

I watched a fascinating documentary a couple of days ago.  In 1970, mob boss, Joe Colombo of the Colombo crime family, had a brilliant idea.  The best defense is a good offense.  Why not form a civil rights organization himself?  What better way to get the FBI off of his back?  He and his crime family were under constant surveillance.  His son was arrested for melting down coins for silver content.  Aren’t his civil rights being violated?  Isn’t he an American like everyone else?  What is a mob boss to do?  Why picket the FBI of course!

Within months Joe Colombo had 45,000 dues-paying members.  Luminaries like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Governor Nelson Rockefeller attended fundraisers, and became members, for what became the Italian- American Civil Rights League.  This organization had enough clout to cower the FBI into what can be considered the first government sanctioned political correctness program. 

Joe Colombo had accomplished a milestone.  He was able to have the FBI expunge all derogatory language and references to the mob in their memos and press conferences.  He even shutdown the filming of the Godfather in New York City until the producers met his demands.  Now that takes some balls! 

The “religion of peace” has paid homage to Joe Colombo.  They have followed the mob boss’s blueprint for cowering the FBI and other law enforcement agencies.  Just recently, 75 Islamic organizations sent a letter to the FBI taking umbrage at governmental instructions and “inappropriate teachings” about Islam and their followers.  Many of these organizations are unindicted co-conspirators to terrorist organizations such as Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

So hats off to Joe Colombo for providing a politically correct guide for muzzling the federal government.  Too bad it doesn’t work for the Tea Party.

Gay Couple Sues Church of England

We don’t have to look very far to see what will happen in the United States if the federal government recognizes gay marriage as a civil right.  I, like many others, warned that churches will be sued.  The Blaze.com posted the following:

Barrie wants to convince the church that recognizing gay marriages is the right thing to do. Since he says he’s a Christian and that his kids, as a result, are also practicing believers, churches, in his view, should acknowledge his union.

“I want to go into my church and marry my husband,” he added. “The only way forward for us now is to make a challenge in the courts against the church.”

Barrie said that it would be a shame to take Christians to court and that he doesn’t want to force anyone to allow him to marry. Still, he seemed open to using the courts to accomplish this goal.

The Gay Star News reported the couple has hired lawyers to potentially battle the Church of England in court. The government, however, claims that churches are protected from being forced to marry same-sex couples. Still, Barrie and Tony plan to forge on, as they told GSN:

“[It] is a matter of opinion. There are legal pathways to go down and before we make a conclusive step forward we have to explore every avenue. We have been speaking to very senior legal advisors with Cannon Law experience who feel that there actually may be a case to answer.

What the outcome maybe, is another question. We shall have to wait and see, but at the end of the day, the pressure will be highly visible and the church will be in the spot light again for discrimination against the same-sex community.

If gay marriage is declared a civil right, churches will be sued; priest will be arrested; and property will be confiscated.  Don’t believe me?  Take a look at what is happening to city and county governments.
