Where are Today's Nixons?

August 9^th was the 40^th anniversary of Nixon’s resignation.  One must wonder what would’ve happened had he been a democrat.  God knows he acted like one.  The EPA was his administrations doing.  Now look at it.

I’m convinced had Nixon been a democrat things may have been different.  Watergate would've been a small footnote in history.  Woodward and Bernstein lost in the annals of the Washington Post.  Am I wrong?  Has the times changed that much?  Sharyl Attkinson seems to think so.

“I think that we’ve gone backwards since that time when we really felt empowered as journalists,” Attkinson said.

“I’d like to think of what would happen today during a Nixon-type scandal. Nixon would basically refuse to turn over tapes to Congress, his aides would refuse to testify to Congress or would take the fifth or lie to Congress today. Woodward and Bernstein would be controversialized on social media by special political interests.”

“Then at the end Nixon would go on a popular late-night comedy show, during which time he would refer to his attackers as people who were political witch-hunters who believed in Area 51 type conspiracy theories,” Attkinson concluded.

Whatever Nixon’s crimes, at least he put the country first and resigned.  That’s saying a lot considering the actions of today's politicians.  Bill Clinton and Barack Obama could've used him as a role model.

Nancy Pelosi: Democratic Party is Your Prophet and the Press is our Messenger

Nancy Pelosi must have felt like the archangel Gabriel when he strangled his message into that dullard vessel, Muhammad.  I can almost hear her mantra, “This is the Democratic Party’s talking points and the press is our messenger.”

CNSNews.com reported the following:

A reporter asked Pelosi: “So, you make this case about the skepticism that people have of this anti-government premise here. You talk about, you know, they’re riding this impeachment horse, and lawsuit horse, and all these things they are doing in the election. Why, for every political analysis that we see, and including top people in your party, don’t believe that the Democrats have a message that can get the House of Representatives back. What government shutdown--why are these things not resonating with the electorate and won’t resonate this fall?”

Pelosi responded: “Well, first of all, we need you to be messengers about what is actually going on here. But, apart from that, we have come forward with our middle-class jump start. Over the month of August, we go forward with how the jump start talks about bringing jobs home. The Republicans have tax breaks to send jobs overseas. Democrats want tax breaks to keep jobs here at home.”
