Nonprofits Flourished During Great Recession

Nonprofit organizations flourished during the Great Recession according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and published by the Washington Post.  We must ask: how could any business survive an onslaught of a government induced financial disaster that destroyed the lives of millions of Americans, indeed, countless millions of people around the world?  The answer is simple: the federal government subsidized them:

But private giving isn't the only way non-profits take in money. Federal government funding was extremely important in helping them expand services, especially as state and local governments cut back. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act pumped millions of dollars into education and training groups, for example, to help workers who lost their jobs.
At the same time, organizations dipped into rainy day funds to stay afloat, resulting in a decline in asset levels. Some workers may have accepted lower wages for non-profit work because of the poor job market, boosting employment as well.
Oh yeah, the power of other peoples’ money, courtesy of the Federal Reserve, confiscatory policies of Democrats and the strong arm of the IRS.

Obamanomics Scary October Unemployment Stats

The economy is as robust as ever.  Prepare yourselves for the “good news” on the unemployment front.

(CNSNews.com) – The “real” unemployment rate rose from 13.6% in September to 13.8% in October, according to figures released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
Though the national unemployment rate is 7.3%, the “real” unemployment rate is a broader measure of the number of people in the United States, 16 and older, currently looking for jobs.
Known as the U-6 unemployment rate, this “real” unemployment figure, seasonally adjusted, includes the unemployed “plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force, plus total employed part time for economic reasons ….”

And as for the participation rate, well we haven’t seen levels like this since 1978.

On Friday, the Labor Department reported that 720,000 Americans left the labor force. This exodus pushed the labor force participation rate down to 62.8%, the lowest level since 1978. One out of three adults is neither working nor actively looking for work.
Some observers attribute the sharp drop to the shutdown and the furloughed federal workers. Even if that were the case, and it is unclear why these workers would be counted as not in the labor force, the number of Americans exiting is still significant. The total number of adults not in the labor force in October rose 932,000 to almost 92 million. (see note below)
Overall, the jobs report showed employers adding 204,000 jobs in October. Almost half of these job gains were in the retail and hospitality sectors. The adult population, however, grew by 213,000, meaning that the better than expected jobs number fell short of keeping pace with population growth. The economy needs to add many more jobs to bring discouraged workers back into the labor force.
In spite of the gain in jobs, the overall number of Americans with a job fell by 735,000, to less than 144 million. Just 58.3% of adults were employed in October.

And we have three more years of what passes for the Democratic Party’s prosperity.  Food Stamps for everyone!

Rep. Henry Waxman Knows a Thing or Two About Depressions

Mind you, Rep. Henry Waxman hasn't worked an honest day in his life. He has been a politician his whole career. His legacy is the bureaucratic machine.

What in the hell does this guy know about a depression? I would say a whole hell of alot since he helped create this one during the Clinton administration. But of course, we're the ones who'll suffer, and not the likes of him.

Americans Lose 40% of Their Wealth in Recession

What do you get, when you cross loose monetary policy from the Federal Reserve with government sanctioned success? A big ass bubble! And that’s exactly what happened to us in 2008. The cards came crashing down, and all the players responsible blamed everyone but themselves for this disaster. Here is a report from one of the instigators of our economic crisis, as reported by the Washington Post:

The recent recession wiped out nearly two decades of Americans’ wealth, according to government data released Monday, with middle-class families bearing the brunt of the decline.

The
Federal Reserve said the median net worth of families plunged by 39 percent in just three years, from $126,400 in 2007 to $77,300 in 2010. That puts Americans roughly on par with where they were in 1992.

The data represent one of the most detailed looks at how
the economic downturn altered the landscape of family finance. Over a span of three years, Americans watched progress that took almost a generation to accumulate evaporate. The promise of retirement built on the inevitable rise of the stock market proved illusory for most. Homeownership, once heralded as a pathway to wealth, became an albatross.

Americans are back to 1992 status? That’s weird. Wasn’t it in 1993, when Bill Clinton and the Democrats started their housing initiatives? Isn’t that around the time James Johnson of Fannie Mae fame began his schemes with that G.S.E.? Could this just be a coincidence?

Which Captain Is Obama: Bligh or Ahab?

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Barack Obama likens our economic crisis to a storm. And he is the captain steering the ship through the tempest:

Brian Williams: You see what’s out there. You see what’s being said about you. What do you say to those Americans who voted for that man on the poster that said “hope”?

Barack Obama: Well, what I would say is that for the last two and a half to three years, we have been working tirelessly and nonstop to deal with the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes, and ultimately I’m going to be judged by whether we have stayed focused on making sure that this economy is moving in the right direction. And like the captain of a ship in a storm, you know, when the ship is rocking and people are getting hurt, they’re not going to be happy, no matter how good the captain’s doing. Now, my hope is that when we are on the other side of it, folks will look back and say, “You know, he wasn’t a bad captain of the ship.” What I tell everybody I meet whether they voted for me or they didn’t is, “This country always gets through these storms. We always right the ship. And we will this time as well.”

Unfortunately, this asshole didn’t bring a map and he left his sextant behind. His regulators have cut back on the grog, while beating the crew for insubordination. And on the horizon is the white whale that he’s being chasing through the storm. But unfortunately, his obsession is an illusion. And this idiot is steering the ship into a reef or promontory.

Obama is Zero the Hero

The monthly jobs report has just come in and we are at a flat ZERO. This hasn’t happened since 1945. Obama really does want another New Deal for America. FDR would’ve been proud of this lackluster admirer from afar. Fox News reports:

A dismal labor report Friday showed the economy added zero net workers in August, intensifying pressure on President Obama to unveil a major jobs initiative during his speech to Congress next week.

The Labor Department report, which showed the
unemployment rate stuck at 9.1 percent, feeds into concerns that the economy could be at risk of another recession. It was the weakest jobs report since September 2010

Obama isn't done yet. Zero the Hero is going to make a joint session speech to Congress. He’s going to propose another FDResque plan that is all infrastructures, food stamps, and a good ole bashing of greedy corporations. Yee Haw can’t wait for that progressive shit sandwich.

Here’s a tribute to our fearless leader: Obama our Hero the Zero.
