The Media and Maltreatment of Israel

Helen Thomas, the face of the dinosaur media, parroted the old line that Jews are occupiers of "Palestine." Palestine the fictional land that was originally called Transjordan but now has gained the mythical stature of Tolkien's Middle Earth, is the cause de jour of the Che Guevera crowd.

In 1914 the city of Jerusalem had a Jewish population of 45,000 out of 65,000; by 1947 that population expanded to 538,000 to the Arab population of 397,000. The British did not count an extra 100,000 Jews at the time, because they wished to make it an international city.

When the state of Israel was formed, Arab leaders called for the exodus of their people. They would not accept a Jewish state amongst them. These same leaders would become the bane of neighboring countries such as Lebanon and Jordan. Civil wars broke out and the citizens of these countries were meted death and destruction of property. Many Arab countries refused to absorb this hostile population, instead they fed upon the so-called injustice or apartheid of the Israeli state.

What many do not know is that Israel has an Arab population of over 1 million, who vote and are elected into parliament known as the Knesset. They are not sequestered into concentration camps, rather they are embraced as citizens.

Helen Thomas and others in the lame stream media are committing journalistic malpractice. But then again are any of us really surprised?
