EPA Sows Discord Amongst States and Native American Tribes

The EPA has no shame when it comes to power grabs.  Recently, this rogue agency proclaimed they have a right to regulate ditches, ponds, and mud puddles in your backyard.  This is a far cry from its original mission established in 1970 and subsequent congressional amendments culminating in the 1977 Clean Water Act.

Congress, in order to overturn a federal regulation, must have a veto proof majority.  This is almost impossible to overcome.   In essence, federal bureaucracies have more power than Congress.  The EPA can promulgate any form of stupidity their environmental activists can dream up, and do so without consequence.

These enviro-brigands have become a political arm of the radical, progressive wing of the Democratic Party.  This agency is intentionally sowing discord amongst states and Native Americans by setting different clean water standards near tribal lands.  The state of Maine is the latest to fall prey to the machinations of an aggressive EPA.  The Bangor Daily News reported the following:

According to Manahan, the 1980 Maine Indian Claims Settlement Act explicitly states that water quality standards will be determined by the state and that the same set of standards will apply to all Maine residents. The EPA ruling, he added, contradicts the act by calling for a separate set of standards in tribal waters.

Manahan also said the Penobscots’ estimates for the amount of fish that they consume daily are suspect and may be just a distraction from their true objective. What the tribe really wants, he said, is to establish itself as a separate entity within the state of Maine.

“This may just be a mechanism by them to overturn the Settlement Act,” Manahan said. “That’s what I think their ultimate goal is.”

Francis said Tuesday that the EPA decision supports the tribe’s claim that its territory as approved in the 1980 Maine Indian Claims Settlement Act includes all sections of the Penobscot River from the Milford Dam to Millinocket. The tribe’s lawsuit against the state was filed in 2012 after then-Attorney General William Schneider issued an opinion that the Penobscots’ territory was limited to islands in the river and does not extend to the river itself.

So the EPA is setting different standards in different areas of a state for specific people.  Does anyone else find that suspect?

If You Defund It, They'll Leave

“If you defund it, they’ll leave.”  Wait, wasn't that a famous line in the movie, Field of Dreams?  Oh, that’s what Governor Paul LePage has accomplished in the great state of Maine.  Top Right News reported the following:

Last November, just one week after his re-election, LePage did something unusual — he made good on a major campaign promise, by slashing funds for cities who give welfare to illegal aliens. The policy has already had a huge impact, with illegals fleeing in droves, and Democrat mayors having to defend giving handouts to illegal invaders before angry voters.

Now, just 6 months later, LePage is making good on another promise: to put an end to welfare leeches in his state, once and for all.

The results are something every American should see — an EPIC victory. And Democrats are FURIOUS.

There is common sense in the Age of Obama?  Could this possibly be happening?  Surely, this must be an aberration.

States Should Adopt Maine's 1839 Border Solution

Make no doubt about it; Mexico is a willful participant in this Latin American invasion of our country.  Opportunist and enemies  of the United States, foreign and domestic, have seized upon Obama’s open borders program.  We have a commander-in-chief aiding and abetting third-worlders in an attempt to influence the electorate.  That’s right.  I’m saying it.  We have a traitor in the Oval Office.

Governor Rick Perry, and a handful of patriots, are trying to protect the sovereignty of this nation.  He has deployed the National Guard to protect our border.  This doesn’t sit well with our belligerent, southern neighbor.

Mexico "reiterates, in a firm and categorical way, its rejection of this measure," read a statement from the foreign ministry.
"No circumstance at all or change in border security exists that justifies this measure taken by the state."
The troop deployment "does not contribute in any way to solving the immigration problem," and is inconsistent with US-Mexico talks aimed at "building a modern, prosperous and safe border," the statement read.

There was a time when Mexico’s aggression would be considered an act of war.  There was a time when States would act without permission from Washington D.C.  There was a time when D.C. was put on notice, or else.  That time came in 1839 in Maine.  Here is an excerpt from: America's First Great Depression

This change happened in 1839, when Maine sent a party to clear the disputed land of British trespassers.  New Brunswick’s colonial government arrested the Maine party and threatened that it would use force to hold the territory.  Maine’s legislature responded in February 1839 by sending ten thousand state militiamen northward.  Maine’s governor warned Van Buren about suppressing a conflict with the British.  “Should you go against us upon this occasion – or not espouse our cause with warmth and earnestness and with a true American feeling, God only knows what the result will be politically.”  In Washington, Congress stoked the fires by authorizing the president to call out fifty thousand troops if needed to repel the British.

And what was the end result?

Once again, Van Buren sought the middle ground.  He endorsed Maine’s claim to the territory and at the same time assured Fox of his desire to avoid hostilities.  But Maine’s state militia ignored Van Buren’s call to disband while the two nations worked out a plan for resolving the dispute.  General Scott was sent to Maine and won the grudging agreement of state leaders to a plan of withdrawal of American and British forces from the contested territory.  An uneasy peace was restored.

What a different America we live in today!  Do you believe Obama would embrace our southern states with warmth and earnestness and a true American feeling?  Yea didn’t think so.

North Carolina Prepares for Obamacare

Republicans need four Democrats to help over ride Gov. Perdue’s veto of HR2. In the meantime they are preparing to implement the Obamacare monstrosity, as reported by Carolina Journal:

RALEIGH — Republicans in the House need to find four Democrats to join their caucus in voting to override Gov. Bev Perdue's veto of House Bill 2. At the same time, House Republicans are working on a bill to create health benefit exchanges mandated in the law. GOP members say they need to set up the exchanges in case the law goes fully into effect in 2014. The constitutionality of the law likely will be decided by the U.S. Supreme Court

Maine just received a waiver. That’s right a whole state received a waiver from Obamacare. If you don’t believe something is wrong with this huge power grab by the federal government, then I suggest you ponder that.
