For those of you, who are not familiar with Senator Spoons’ corruption, I refer you to a book written by Peter Schweizer entitled, “Throw Them All Out.” Almost a whole chapter is dedicated to Senator John F. Kerry’s insider trading and abuse of office.
I don’t understand how the commonwealth of Massachusetts can tolerate this kind of corruption from one of its senators. But it seems they have a history of it. During the time of Reconstruction, one of their congressmen had a reputation for being a grafter. Benjamin Butler was a civil war general who governed the occupation of New Orleans. That’s where he received his moniker “Spoons” for allegedly stealing silverware from the house he used as a headquarters. Later, he served in the House of Representatives. His exploitation of that office was exceptionably notable in the “Age of Good Stealings.” And what did Massachusetts do with this notorious thief? They made him governor!
You have a lot to be proud of Massachusetts.
