Muslim Woman Sues Disney Over Religious Rights
A Muslim woman comes to this country, works at Disney for two years, becomes a citizen and then sues to wear her hijab. Once questioned about her motives, she proclaimed that she had a constitutional right to wear it. This woman is under contract by Disney to play a character. So to accommodate this woman, Minnie Mouse has to wear a hijab?
Nowhere in the Constitution does it state that you have a right to violate contracts in the name of religion. However, the Constitution does state under Article One, Section 10 that neither the states or congress can interfere in private contracts.
I am reminded of an article that I read in Gates of Vienna of man who visited Turkey shortly after 9/11. He went to a cafe and ordered coffee. He happened to overhear a group of young Turks discussing the aftermath of this disaster. They were openly happy about the attacks; yet, they worried about the status of their student visas to attend university in the United States. The author explained:
For the four Turks, moving to America was an act of economic survival/self-defense. Once well-established in the heartland of the Great Satan that persecutes and oppresses Muslims all over the world, it would be easier for young Turkish Muslims to destroy the enemy from within — a dream openly conveyed to the US media by Omar M Ahmad of CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations): “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth.
This is what we can expect from this kind of immigrant. To read the article in it's entirety click on this link: http://gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/2010/08/holy-father-and-turkish-incoherence.html#readfurther
